Palm tired from building knockout handset and OS, forgets to update site
You most certainly already knew that Palm’s newly announced OS, WebOS, was codenamed Nova prior to launch. If you didn’t then we invite you to stop by slightly more often and up your gadget cred a bit. What you probably didn’t know however, was that Palm’s knight in shining armor was codenamed Castle. How apropos. The fellas at Palm must have been so exhausted from making sure everything Pre-related happened on time that they forgot to update the copy in an automatically generated confirmation email. You know, kind of like how the BlackBerry Storm is still referred to as the BlackBerry Thunder in some OS files to this day. It’s okay Palm, you did a hell of a job keeping the wraps on your recent announcements and it’s safe to say both the Pre and WebOS are pretty widely acclaimed at this point. Get some rest and then see if you can’t get around to cleaning that up.
Thanks, Rob!

It happens to the best of us. lol.
Wow, that’s nitpicky
Castlenova!
It must be a slow news day.
Too much attitude, too little tight, thoughtful analysis. Typical Boy Genius Report. Nothing new.
Gosh I just feel as though I must comment on every Pre / webOS story to say how excited I am about this. Heck I was never really excited about the iPhone, I only bought one when my Treo 650 finally completely stopped being able to take a charge (charger port not battery or charger), and I was kicking and screaming the whole time.
I can’t believe I’m so excited about a product for SPRINT??!?
They updated it now lol
Palm’s webmasters are tired, you mean. I doubt any higher up dev guys at Palm know anything about HTML.
‘Castle’? How appropriate. Palm is seeking protection from the rest of the cruel, vicious world.
man does bgr want palm and sprint to die? there kinda pioneered the american smart phone business… who had 3g, mp3 and cams on phones, ota music, mobile tv, touch screens, and pda phones before probably all of the major players that are left.. give em some credit.. the only reason sprint is doing bad is because fast media phones came in right when min rates dropped huge… that made nextel lose all of its commercial appeal.. now palm they just got caught off guard because it seems there os is harder to change than windows or bb.. wm an bb just easily refreshed their os to make it look newer.. palm either couldnt or choose to rewrite the whole os.. i think they shoulda refreshed and rewrote.. and yes some type of emulator or somthin will run old palm apps i forgot who but someone interviewed a palm guy he said a definite yes but didnt care to elaborate or talk about the old palm.. he just said yea there will be a way
^It’s not about who is there when the starter’s pistol fires, but who leads and who crosses the finishing line. If that was the measure, Apple would be the unquestioned king among more than their legion of fanbois. Just as they’ve done in the past, Palm is ripping from another developer, this time it being WM7.
Palm/Sprint appear to be running in the Special Olympics, their resident apologist, propagandists’ claims notwithstanding.
It is what it is.
What is it with you? Where is there a screenshot of WM7? Certainly not on BGR!
@avremele: I didn’t realize the world began and ended with BGR. Thanks for the revolutionary insight!
Where are you hiding the screenshots of WM7 that only you are privy to.
^Not even close to being “just me”, tool. But don’t blame me because your lard-ass is too lazy to educate yourself on the matter.
I find it funny how and article about any upcoming device gets turned into a “That carrier will die” thread. This phone has generated lots of chatter in the last 3 days and as long as it isn’t a crappy UI and bugs at launch it will be a more than decent smartphone. Thier App Catalog will be anticipated too. The GSM version will be out in Europe around the same time so it’s a matter of time before that comes to the states, as long as other CDMA carriers getting follows the previous Palm devices. Big Red probably won’t get for a while like the Centro
^ It was stated in the same press release that told of a EU introduction that there are no plans for American UMTS/HSPA. Sorry, shill.
This cat insist on busting anybody’s balls with hyperbole, I said eventually not tomorrow. IMHO, backbeat comes off as a self-righteous, arrogant, immature know-it-all that doesn’t like Sprint and because they get the 1st crack at Palm, them too. She/he is going to recycle any story shedding a bad light while ignoring any and positives so regard all post by him/her with a salt lick because a grain isn’t enough for that spin. Here comes a apologist, fanboy attack sometime in retort but we all should be use to that by now
Tsk, Tak, Bunkie. Missed your last anger-management group session, eh?
You don’t like the truth? Take it up with Ed Colligan who laid out the plans for _no_ US UMTS/HSPA.
Truth’s a royal bitch, boy.
I’m in Chicago, on the the westside (K-Town specifically) and not once did I call backbeat a name but did characterize the tone of your post. I don’t take kindly to being called a bitch or boy, didn’t mind the fumbles with my name, if backbeat is a dude call me any of that my face and you’ll see why anger management is necessary. Back to topic, I guess this is an appropriate article because they did similar with the OS of the Storm
Your above, pugnacious diatribe in the face of life’s cruel realities is quite the hoot.
Feeling froggy, Shill? Go for it.
I still want to know what the price of this and the Pro will be, Sprint needs to match cheap plans with cheap phones. The Touch Pro, Mogul, 800 and Diamond and cost too much, a little more subsidy could go a long way
Since the 800w and all but the loss-leader Centro has been yanked, it should be quite entertaining to watch when Sprint releases both the Treo Pro and Pre within only a few months of each other. Bi-directional cannibalism [aka cluster-fuck], anyone?
I don’t know about the 800 but the Centro is still alive and popping on Sprint and blue, red just got it last year, now exactly where did you get this from. Sprint is the only one selling the 800 and it’s still on thier site, facts about Palm. Big red is always the last to get Palm and t mo never, I’ll get the Berry Centro because my BM wants it and for me it’s a toss up between the Pre, and Bold Android Instinct.
You “don’t know about the 800w”? And you consider yourself informed? Have you even graduated high school yet? What _is_ your problem with matters of truthfulness, idiot?
You may want to try a re-read in order to understand that I said “all but the loss-leader Centro” [as in all other Palm OS phones are toast]. Do you even know what a loss-leader is? Jesus-Fucking-Christ!
Somehow, I’m pretty fucking certain you’re intimately familiar with all-things-’Pre-’, Squirt.
