All this talk about”AT&T, puhleez hurry and release a release date”. If you are willing to wait until march, sign a 3 year contract, still pay $199 go ahead. But would you rather just buy the unlocked version without contract for $400+/- And then you verizon customers don’t have to wait until 2010 to get the 8900. Lol. 1 year from now the same schmucks begging for the curve 8900 series are going to say they “need” not “want” the next new BB phone. RIM is so smart they have 8 hour meetings on how to market properly so they can sell ppl like you who say you “need” a new phone a new BB Curve 8900 when it’s exactly like the 8300 series minus a 16 second video recorder! Wow these things just trip me out. And, am I the only one reading all these and smh?

my Bold doesn’t seem any faster on 3G than on Edge, I think wifi and gps are more important features. But with at&t supposedly cutting down Edge services in some areas it is scary. That and most phones are terrible at switching between edge 3g and wifi. The Bold is 100 times better than the iPhone for that.

Doesn’t make a bit of sense… Why would Ralph de la Vega (President and CEO of AT&T Mobility) make a statement about scaling back EDGE network to make every device 3G, go for the Javelin. It sounds like a bunch of marketing garbage to offset the TMo – 8900 buzz….

Like someone took another BB 8900, uploaded an AT&T background, and used one of those applications to change the name of the “service”.

I agree with the “why do you need 3G on a bb?” comments. i live in an edge town. Love the looks, os of the Bold. But when I go to my local 3g city (vega$) my battery goes to hell, and I don’t use 3g much for anything. If i can get 3g without the murdered battery life, then sign me up. if not, then… eh.

Just FYI, we usually don’t release updated phones till at least one year past the last generation mark. The Magnum is a completely different phone per say since it utilizes the touch screen technology as well. Its not like moving from the 8300 to 8350 wifi. The magnum is a whole new device. Niagra is awaiting final authorization for production, I have not seen an ETA yet but I would say around summer

The 9220 3G Magnum will be coming out on AT&T. Its been delayed due to problems that I cannot discusss, expect to see it end of Q3/Q4 maybe even 2010.

Guys, I would disagree about verizon. though they do have software glitches(bluetooth problem on 8130), I still love their network and 8330 fits most of my needs.
My company is switching to ATT and will give me free pearl or curve. I am not looking forward to either one. Bold’s speed is also horrible as I loaded 5 pages on my vzw curve while my friend was trying to load first page on his bold.

I wish my company choose vzw as their provider.

Man it amazes me, that these conversations come up on tech blogs. Everyone on here is talking about 3G on a Blackberry. 3G’s cons far outweigh their pros. Horrible battery life, and good luck getting a signal on that. Not to mention that recently it was leaked that AT&T is going to force everyone to upgrade to a 3G phone which means this specific model will not be hitting AT&T unless it has 3G radio bands inside. Just my two cents.

I’ve “upgraded” from the Curve to the Bold – and unless you enjoy no service, call failed and dropped calls, I’d wait for the 8900. AT&T’s 3g network, at least as the Bold interacts with it, is terrible.
