In CompEng, after theorizing a FST, doing all the K-maps and getting pseudo-code we would program a basic processor and it would do everything (instead of soldering gates together or messing with a breadboard).

This is almost like that, just on steroids, muscle milk, pot, PCP, an Affliction T-shirt and a new haircut.

I’m thinking of a small box, one side has a DisplayPort, DVI-D, HDMI & Fiber/Coax SPDIF. On the other it has DisplayPort, DVI-D, HDMI, Fiber/Coax SPDIF & Component. The point? Convert from any type of connector to another losslessly. And – remove the HDCP protection. Not that you need anything special to do an XOR operation every two seconds, but the D2D & D2A conversions are a bitch wrt fsto.

Like I said yesterday:

From what I know about Zii, it is nothing more than a mobile CPU/DSP hybrid blessed with programmable stream processors–in other words an evolution of X-Fi’s “Active Modal Architecture” designed for gadgets instead of sound cards. Move along.

This is HARDLY revolutionary, but I’d be interested in seeing how their chip performs compared to other upcoming solutions from AMD, Nvidia and Toshiba (mobile Cell).

I’ll bet Intel makes a similar chip 6 months after this one; and then beats Creative into submission like they did AMD.
