Asus Eee Keyboard wows us all
Asus most definitely came to CES today packing heat and without a doubt, one of its most impressive announcements was the Eee Keyboard. We want it and we want it now. The Eee Keyboard stuffs a PC with respectable netbook-like specs into, you guessed it, a keyboard. Flat Mac-like keys and a 5-inch touchscreen display sit atop a very thin keyboard frame with a host of connections on the back – connections you potentially don’t even need, we might add. Asus’ new take on the all-in-one features Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n along with wireless HDMI and Bluetooth 2.0 meaning that short of a power cord, users can connect wirelessly to any and all required peripherals including a high definition display or HDTV. We’ll take things in a different direction – imagine carrying this puppy around with a pocket projector and having access to a full PC with a sizable projected display anywhere and everywhere you go. Specs on this innovative little piece of kit are as follows:
- Self-contained PC / keyboard combo with integrated 5-inch touchscreen display
- OS: Windows XP Home Edition
- 1.6GHz Intel Atom microprocessor
- 1GB of DDR2 DRAM
- 16GB or 32GB SSD
- Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n
- Bluetooth 2.0
- Ultra Wideband HDMI
- USB 2.0 x2, VGA, HDMI, headphone and mic ports
- Weight: 2 lbs
Pricing and projected availability are still a bit of a mystery, though Asus CEO Johnny Shih claims it will be available in the next three to six months, so we’ll be waiting with bated breath. Hit the jump for two more shots.

WTF? Wireless HDMI but it still requires a power cord? Are you *sure* there’s no battery? Call me back when it comes with a 3-hour battery and vertical docking/charging station. Jeez.
Not to mention, this thing begs for some Nvidia Ion lovin’–Intel integrated graphics don’t cut it at 1080p.

its a portable computer dummy if you visit many offices you can plug a tv, monitor or a projector into it.. the screen is for small simple or unforseen tasks when you arent by a bigger one like on the side of the road or the airport.. this is not a netbook or a laptop but it can be used as a netbook.. its meant for the business person or student who travels alot and may use 3 or more different pcs in one day.. you could set it up with 2 wires one more than a laptop making it still portable… at your residence various offices classes labs libraries and colleagues or classmates residences you might use a number of pcs for moderate tasks.. gamers, muscicians, and graphic/ video people wouldnt use many comps as much because they normally use very expensive peripherals and have there work or home studio/ station set jus right.. i was thinkin a this idea just a lil different nice execution.. remember in sales every product has a target demographic most likely in this case its not u.. if every product was tailored to you every company would bankrupt

This a complete overkill, ASUS, and I’m lovin’ it! I’m fine without a battery, if you need to type on the go then buy a netbook- This all in one will be my new second desktop

My first computer… Tandy 1000EX… keyboard built in to the main CPU housing… No hard drive… 5.25″ floppy… and a whole lot of Sierra games. Ah, memories.

I would never buy a piece of crap like this. I currently am using a 5$ keyboard I got from a computer junk shop three years ago. This Asus Keyboard probably has shoddy drivers and would likely explode if I dropped a toast crumb on it.
it’s got a windows logo on it. that means i’ll never touch it.
that really ticks me off. microsoft needs to die. to heck with all manufacturers that suck up to microsoft. you’ll never see my money.
