Asus Eee Keyboard wows us all
Asus most definitely came to CES today packing heat and without a doubt, one of its most impressive announcements was the Eee Keyboard. We want it and we want it now. The Eee Keyboard stuffs a PC with respectable netbook-like specs into, you guessed it, a keyboard. Flat Mac-like keys and a 5-inch touchscreen display sit atop a very thin keyboard frame with a host of connections on the back – connections you potentially don’t even need, we might add. Asus’ new take on the all-in-one features Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n along with wireless HDMI and Bluetooth 2.0 meaning that short of a power cord, users can connect wirelessly to any and all required peripherals including a high definition display or HDTV. We’ll take things in a different direction – imagine carrying this puppy around with a pocket projector and having access to a full PC with a sizable projected display anywhere and everywhere you go. Specs on this innovative little piece of kit are as follows:
- Self-contained PC / keyboard combo with integrated 5-inch touchscreen display
- OS: Windows XP Home Edition
- 1.6GHz Intel Atom microprocessor
- 1GB of DDR2 DRAM
- 16GB or 32GB SSD
- Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n
- Bluetooth 2.0
- Ultra Wideband HDMI
- USB 2.0 x2, VGA, HDMI, headphone and mic ports
- Weight: 2 lbs
Pricing and projected availability are still a bit of a mystery, though Asus CEO Johnny Shih claims it will be available in the next three to six months, so we’ll be waiting with bated breath. Hit the jump for two more shots.

Cute, but useless.
Asus was a great company till they decided to join there self at the hip to a 9 year old operating system. I mean I agree after 9 years xp has finally become a decent os but seriously it is 9 years old. I think the purpose of the company is to serve as a warning to all other companies what not to do. Its sad that a company what comes out with innovative stuff like this has there pants down and is the jail bait of windows. It really doesn’t make sense ASUS get it together.
So put Linux on it or make a Hackintosh out of the little bugger. Hasn’t stopped other Netbook fans, don’t see why this would.
Can’t wait to see this in person… I love all-in-one concepts, this wouldn’t satisfy a road-warrior type, but for a student who’d like a (hopefully affordable) starter PC, or for a hobbyist wanting a small form factor computer for something, this is great!
wait… that thing IS A COMPUTER!?!?!?
hi there your right were going all the way back too the comadore 64 useing fast flash memory instead of a slow hard drive and the thing looks alwsoume with 1.6 ghz cpu 1 gb of ram and a 16 or 32 gb ssd and 5 inch touch screen is alsoume its like iphone 3 gs with a built in keyboard wich also has 32 gb of flash memmory i notice that there are 2 usb ports for 2 usb 64 gb ssd back up flash drives or 128 gb usb flash drives
there is a battery according to popscience it lasts around 1.5 hours.
awesome keboard! ilove Asus
Didn’t Commodore have this idea?
Awesome. It’s like the Apple IIc / IIe never went away.
But seriously: Asus has some great ideas and designs. Hell, they basically invented the netbook…
this just looks exactly like the new macbook pro keyboard with an iphone put in the side of it …
