T-Mobile Shadow 2009 colors and specs
The original T-Mobile Shadow wasn’t exactly the most coveted Windows Mobile handset on the planet, though its slim form factor, SureType keyboard, and relatively generous feature set managed to endear itself to some. Hoping to capitalize on the original’s moderate success, T-Mobile and HTC are set to release a successor to the middling phone. The Shadow 2009 has actually been on our radar for a very long time now, with various sightings, spec leaks, and more surfacing over the last year. It looks like T-Mobile is finally preparing to make this thing official, however, with the above image “clearly” showing the phone in both red and white. We’re expecting to see the Shadow 2009 hit the streets on the 28th of January at an undisclosed price. Sadly, without any trace of 3G support, you’ll have to excuse us if we pull out the big PASS stamp. Hit the jump for the full spec rundown.

T-mobile hates windows mobile and it’s users with a passion obviously.
Who doesn’t hate WM?? :p
Btw, where is this “clear” picture??
Wait, wait, wait….. No 3G support ? Are you f—ing kidding me ?
I don’t understand why BG and other Tech sites get all bent out of shape over a T-mobile phone without 3G. There is a very very very limited 3G area for T-mobile so I just dont see why it is a burden RIGHT now.
@Joe-the-Unlicensed-Plumber- Where did you obtain a license to speak or think? Costa Rica State A&T?
Ive noticed Tmo seems to either have phones with 3g, or phones with UMA. do they not have the tech yet to handle 3g-to-UMA call transitions?
@Henry
Samsung P270 & Sony Ericsson G705u are 3G UMA phones, but they are not offered in the USA. I bet you are not surprised that good ol USA’s cellular offerings suck, huh? Blame Verizon & AT&T executives. It’s a duopoly encouraged by FCC. You sheep keep taking it in the backside.
Tmo can offer a 3G UMA handset, but the cellular service sucks in the USA. Verizon & ATT are in cahoots w/ the FCC trying to keep its combat boot on Tmo’s neck.
UMA is the only way to keep your cellphone bill affordable.
att should just buy t-mobile so that al of you can stop whining about 3g.
@backbeat
I got a certficate from NYU Lite.
BGR needs more AT&T ninjas.
No 3G? Gar-bage.
TMO should buy Sprint which is as good as dead and use their spectrum to create a network to compete with verizon and AT&T. I love TMO and would love to see some real UMA/3G handsets.
StevenGlansburg, believe it or not, millions of people do live in areas covered by t-mobile’s 3g network. In any event, 3g areas are and will continue to be upgraded so you obviously want to be ready – especially if this phone is to last you a year or two. This is a waste of a design – no 3g, an outdated OS, same inferior browser. Pointless.
tmo have 3g in 20 something markets right? So isnt that more than 100 cities.
this is crap, t-mobile refuses to release a windows mobile phone with 3g, they shoud get their lips off googles ass and support the needs of their customers.
does this version drain all battery power in 6ft radius like the last version?
You’ve been plagiarized.

ROFLMA…*battery dies*
pos phone
I owned the original Shadow and now i am using a G1, the difference is unbeleiveable, but i think the ultimate goal of the shadow is not to appease smartphone/business fanatics but rather do exactly what it did for me, which was introduce me to a smartphone. The shadow is a great phone for people who are just getting into smartphones and makes the transistion from a feature phone really nice. Some smartphones (mostly winmo) are just all business and no fun, and the shadow gives the user a fun, easy to use device yet also has the power to do some multi tasking and business oriented stuff.
As far as the browser goes, well its deffently horrible compared to my g1, but as long as you dont use internet explorer, and download “skyfire” or opera mobile, it should make the browsing expereince bearable.
I really liked my Shadow. The battery life and T-Mo sucky customer support however totally soured me on it (and them) … when they annouced the extended battery replacement I tried via store and phone and email to get one…. got palmed off onto HTC who charged me to replace the battery…. with exactly the same crappy one.
… one example of poor customer service put me off three brands in one hit (T-Mo, HTC and WinMo)… excellent work!
Wait a tick… what’s the camera resolution>?
So I really like the shadow, and maybe if the new york customers would quit calling in to t-monbile i could actually get my issue fixed, after all it is the people from the north east that complain the most to every company out there…. eh, 3 am is a good time to call tech support anyway oh, and i am speaking with an awesome rep too so to all those whiners out there get over it and quit screwing up your phones…. i got mine fixed — something i did — imagine that.
EVERYONE KEEPS CRITICIZING THIS PHONE. JUST BECAUSE IT ISNT 3G DOESN’T MEAN THE END OF THE WORLD. IF YOU DONT WANT IT DONT BUY IT. THE REASON IT HAS THESE FEATURES IS BECAUSE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MADE BY IMPROVEMENTS OF FEATURES FROM THE PREVIOUS SHADOW. WOW WHO WOULD PAY 50 BUCKS FOR A SLIGHTLY FASTER PHONE AND 20 BUCKS FOR A REAL KEYBORED. BESIDES, SURETYPE IS WAY BETTER AND FASTER. BTW IT IS FASTER THAN THE iPHONE. IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME THEN BUY IT LIKE I DID, AND THEN CRITICIZE IT.
