Black T-Mobile Dash now available for $99

Indeed, the color-refreshed T-Mobile Dash we scooped last month is now available for sale on the T-Mobile site. Just as we expected unfortunately, it’s just a Dash. That’s not to say this handset isn’t a decent choice for someone looking for a Windows Mobile with a full QWERTY keyboard of course, but we wanted more. We don’t need to go over the specs on this familiar HTC-built T-Mobile handset – the only change, after all, is the color. The only thing really worth highlighting is the price; at $99 after mail-in rebate, the Dash is definitely a good buy in its new black duds. So, T-Mobile people, are you all over it or will you just be holding out until next month when you can get your 8900 on?

Thanks, aussiedog!

Personally, I didn’t really like the 8900 very much but this new one looks promising. The Bold is still the best to suit my needs IMO.

Dang, would have been nice to see some extras rise up for the Dash. (Sarcastically, I think that’s kinda racist. Paint it black and drop the price.

    I have a Sidekick 3 and can’t upgrade for 7 months :(

However if I were able to upgrade tomorrow I still wouldn’t choose this thing.

Hey BGR do you think the G2 will be out sometime around July/August? :)

I have the legacy Dash and have mostly enjoyed it. Tried the Bold but compared to my Dash, it was a bit big.

    Waiting for the 8900.

I have the Dash & i loved it when they upgraded the OS the 1st time to windows 6.0 in 2007. i would not buy this phone over again because the battery needs replacing after only a year of having it & i had to replace the charger after only 9 months of having the device. No more dashes for me. G1, nokia e71 or Curve (2) 8900 for me if i stay with T-Mobile.

Like most I am surprised HTC did nothing but change the case color. I would have liked to see a camera and CPU upgrade :(

On the plus side, I’ve had a dash for over two years now (original phone was lost on a plane and replaced last September)

I’ve been running WM 6.1 for a since the new phone arrived and I must say people are impressed by my Dash still. Given it is a non-standard ROM but the phone (overclocked to 240mhz) never fails to make people question why they bought their phone – unless they bought an iPhone.

For the size and price, plus the support of the community, it is hard to beat. Kinoma and SkyFire fill in the WM6.1 gaps. Oh, did I mention no hassle tethering with Linux and Vista at no additional charge from TMobile?

“Yes, it is a two year old phone. Yes, I’ve upgraded the OS twice. Yes, it can take a 2GB SD card. Yes, it plays YouTube videos and can surf the web like a PC. Excuse me I have to go plug it in” :P

I like mine just fine. Yeah there are better phones sure,no arguement there. But for the price and ease to get one of these by griping enough, why not?

well…have had the Dash for a coupld of years. Tried the Curve 8900…sent it back. Probably have to order another Dash as mine is glitching OS. T-Mobile may have great CS, but behind times in US for hardware…HTC Touch Pro?
Don’t get the clunky BB OS, lack of intuitivity, and need to add apps. Just wish the G1 or iPhone would sync with outlook…what a nuisance…

I saw the black dash last night when i got off work at the local Walmart,(yes walmart for 38$ with a 2 year contract i might add) im still curious as to why HTC did not do any other upgrades than the color…I love my dash even though i no longer use it as i have upgraded to a more open G1(Rooted), i have owned 2 of them the first one i had 2 1/2 years and thought was dead, so i got a new one. less than 2 months after getting a new one (without the pointless insurance) i pulled the phone out of my pocket to find a huge crack across the screen. i looked online and replaced the screen myself for about 100$. i still have my dash, ive been looking for custom ROMs or Firmware for the phone… if anyone has any suggestions they would be appreciated because i really like my dash and would loved to have a custom one.
