Jobs’ health called into question yet again, Apple source denies rumors
Steve Jobs has been the focus of many health-related rumors lately – in fact, Bloomberg even killed him back in August. Each and every time the rumor mongers get going however, Apple either remains silent or refutes the rumors completely, claiming that Jobs is perfectly healthy. The rumors still persist however, and this time around it’s not a random teen behind the reports but a “repeatedly” reliable Gizmodo source. The quote from Giz’s mole:
Steves health is rapidly declining. Apple is choosing to remove the hype factor strategically vs letting the hype destroy apple when the inevitable news comes later this spring.
This strategic loss will be less of a bang with investors. This is why MacWorld is a no-go anymore. No more Steve means no more hype. Saying they are no longer needing [MacWorld] is the cover designed by the worldwide “loyalty” department.
By way of Silicon Alley Insider, CNBC’s Jim Goldman reports that these new rumors are 100% false and that Jobs is still doing just fine. Goldman’s source at Apple who fed him information behind his initial report on Jobs’ health in mid-December, has stated yet again that Apple’s CEO is tip-top and the world need not worry. Apple shares took a temporary dive when the initial Gizmodo post was published but regained ground quickly in light of Goldman’s claims.

Has anyone seen him lately? He doesn’t have to prove to anyone that he’s fine, but if I was in the middle of all these rumors and I was not sick I would come out and do a press conference or something. So it either doesn’t bother Apple or Jobs at all, or he is really not doing well. If that’s the case, hope he gets better. Bad health is never wished upon anyone.
This whole thing reminds me of Fidel Castro.
I have a hard time looking at Jobs and believing that he’s not sick. The poor guy looks like a dead man walking.
Really, he was lucky to beat it the first time. Pancreatic Cancer’s usually a death sentence.
if he dies it looks like apple might die as well cause everytime there a health scare the stocks decline
Apple is done if Jobs dies.
Windows 7 is gonna kill the market too…
Two in one year is not good for Apple.
I wish him the best. I come from a primarily PC work and home environment, but have iMacs as well and I am appreciative of the drive and vision he’s shown in terms of pushing the style and performance envelope. From hardware to software, primarily complacent companies have had to innovate, change their pricing structure and provide some of the UI/hardware refinement/integration that Jobs has spearheaded time and again at Apple.
Gaming the stock market, as this Giz-idiot is doing will kill the Tech Blogosphere once it is determined that s/he profited from it. Illegal acts, such as this, should require 100-year sentences per count.
@backbeat: You’ll never stop gossip and rumor like this. True or not, you could say that about any tech rumor. People know the risks when they trade based on rumor and hearsay.
Do a bit of research …
“The most common type of pancreatic cancer – adenocarcinoma – carries a life expectancy of about a year. Jobs was lucky; he had an extremely rare form called an islet cell neuroendocrine tumor that can be treated surgically, without radiation or chemotherapy.”
Steve Jobs underwent a Whipple procedure and this often causes weight loss. Steve is lean due to the Whipple but he is otherwise healthy and fully capable of fulfilling his CEO duties. More > http://apple20.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2008/06/13/steve-jobs-life-after-the-whipple/
From AppleInsider today – “Steve is Fine!!!
Listen I am just as concerned as everyone on this matter… but I have a friend that works at Apple Headquarters in UI design. Me and him have talked about this a couple of times now… he never tells me anything that he does for work, because he isn’t allowed to. But what he has told me is that on most days Steve eats lunch about the same time he does. Steve usually sits with Jonathan Ive and a handful of other Executives. He says that visually there is nothing wrong with him. He looks fine. I asked is he still really thin? His response was No, he definitely is not. but he isn’t pudgy in the waist any more, his opinion is that steve is aging. He is 53 about to be 54 years old, he just isn’t young looking anymore. He is just thinning out a little with age is all. He assures me based on what he has seen, that there is nothing wrong with Steve, and the media is blowing everything out of proportion.
As far as macworld goes, I will definitely miss Macworld keynotes! but now we can all buy freely around christmas time, and never have to worry about what apple is coming out with in early January!”
Regardless of what you feel about apple, macs and OSX, we all want him to be healthy period.
Why is it so important for the “Haters” to kill of Steve Jobs?
It seems like a strange type of honor for people to jump the gun and put out rumors of his exit! whats the rush? Does Mircosoft NEED S. Jobs out of the way to survive?
Leave the man alone!
P.S.; Thanks Dan B!
Looks like Goldman’s report at CNBC has shut down all of these recent health rumors. I simply wish we could hear from the man himself. A simple statement or appearance would clear a whole lot up!
…And to all the ‘haters’ out there that want to see ‘His Job-ness’ wiped out… C’mon… Grow up.
Amazing how a site like gizmodo can have an impact on the stock market like that.
@neodorian – That is no excuse for gaming the stockmarket and IS an illegal act. Discovery is gonna be a royal bitch for the Giz-idiot involved.
can’t trus CNBC even thogh apple i s a dow indicator i would not buy stock in it right now and whaos to say goldman dosn’t have any stock in apple himself if he dose all the more reason to spin that steve is healthy otherwis his share value falls throgh the floor
Leave Steve Jobs ALONE…! lol
I had to do that…
@Galvatron: Thanks for highlighting the difference between those who are stock analysts and those who post on blogs. Unfortunately for your premise, those analysts are required by law to disclose their holdings.
Idiot.
How does this thread rate moderation and none of the others do? I really did sort of like this blog, I guess the apple fanboy rumors about it are true…. sad very sad. Oh well, IMHO I hope he dies so i can laugh at apple fanboys crying.
wel only other explantion is he has buddies who shortsell apple lol
@fader: You insignificant little piece of human excrement. Grow up before you get run over by reality, half-pint.
@Galvatron: Now you’re claiming insider trading is occurring? Get a fucking grip on something besides your tool, fool. Jebuz!
