Early New Year’s gift from BGR: T-Mobile release schedule revealed, BlackBerry Curve 8900 included

Maybe one of our ninjas was feeling inspired by that crazy new Dick Tracy watch LG has in the pipes because he decided to go super-sleuth and dig up the goods on T-Mobile’s upcoming release schedule for January and February, 2009. This screenshot of T-Mobile’s internal release schedule reveals pink’s upcoming lineup for the first two months of 2009 and T-Mobile well, February is most definitely your month T-Mobile people! You’ve got two major handsets dropping on the 18th: the 8 megapixel Samsung Memoir and yes, that’s right, the highly anticipated BlackBerry Curve 8900. Can you hold out another month and a half? Here’s what you’re looking at over the next two months:
- January 21: Sony Ericsson TM506 in scarlett
- January 21: Nokia 7510
- January 28: T-Mobile Shadow
- February 4: Motorola Renew

- February 18: RIM BlackBerry Curve 8900
- February 18: Samsung Memoir
Happy New Year, from your pals at BGR!

it was never a prediction i simply said that was the estimated ETA I last saw on paper. I don’t work fot AT&T I work for rim and am responsible for distribution/inventory control. Cannot give you more information than that since Id like to keep my job. The phones were sent and AT&T already has their first stock shipment, its up to them to release.
Most RIM units are manufactured in Mexico, but they are sent back here to Waterloo for final assessment and holding before they are sent out for quality control purposes. Tmobile phones are being manufactured as we speak.
I don’t try to predict dates thats very clear on my previous posts, I just tell you what I see as an insider employee.
As for why ive been absent from the forums its because (1) i only comment on RIM postings and there hasnt been one for awhile, and (2) been very busy trying to get all of you your phones so you could be happy for the new year
Verizon customers will be getting the 8930 curve, codenamed Jupiter, and will offer the same features as its counterpart, id say Q2 of 09. As for those with gripes about the Curve lacking 3g, wait for the magnum (3g curve). however ATT has already bought exclusivity rights so good news if you’re an ATT customer.
@ Bradley
I don’t know about you, but mine was “Made in Hungary.” I have a feeling its just where the parts come from. I think they may be assembled in Canada. There’s definitely a BB factory in Waterloo.
holy smokes i missed all those BB214 posts — and that saddens me, BB214, that ATT has exclusivity on 3G Curve. Any other BB’s to expect in 2009 for T-Mo besides 8900? Is there really a Storm coming to us?
Storm 9520 will be up for release to US GSM carriers soon, its up to Tmobile whether or not they want to pick it up. Tmobile may get the magnum later, but ATT bought exclusivity rights for atleast 90 days.
I hate how any carrier can get exclusive rights to any particular phone. I mean I understand why and how it happens (free market capitalistic society) but I wish they didn’t have so much control.
Example: iPhone with AT&T. Nuff said.
But now that the iPhone is becoming so commodisized and stale I’m now open to other high end futuristic mobile devices.
anyone know if any of these are windows mobile 3g phones.
@bb214
I have an off topic question for you. Does RIM use the general public for testing of their units or is that done all in house?
WHERE’S THE BBSTORM TO T-MOBILE?!
lol
@ spencer
Windows mobile and 3G???? Prob not for awhile, if ever. The new shadow is windows mobile but not 3G. Personally I think the shadow sucks either way. I’m gettin the 8900 and then the GSM Storm
primary evaluations are done inhouse. Once the phone is considered acceptable according to “our” standards evaluation units are sent to testers for each major carrier. Before the phones are sent spec sheets/informational packets are sent to the same people, if we receive an offer for exclusivity, this is usually the time. After those are sent, we usually send units to particular major review editors, sites, etc.
Magnum is not a 3G Curve.
Now, what is the “Orion” hmm
Hmmmm, a 3G Curve eh? AT&T?
Looks like I’ll be jumping ship in July when my contract is up.
@redleader
Lol…do you have any idea what you’re talking about? The Magnum is the codename for the 3g curve 9220 that will release later this year. It will be the first blackberry along with the pluto (9900) (or updated Bold) to incorporate the touch screen AND qwerty keyboard technology. The Magnum will most likely be released under the curve name once its all said and done.
BB214,
Are you guys planning a 8910 and 8920 model as well?
@ Hugh Jogg,
Are the AT&T Tilt/HTC Kaiser or HTC Touch Pro (and variants) not 3G WinMo phones?
Or the Samsung Omnia (either variant)?
I could name 40+ 3G enabled WinMo phones.
Does your ninja know kungfu?
