Creative to unveil new Zii processor at CES
Everything you know is about to change… That is the tag line found on a Creative teaser page tied to a brand new processor the company will be unveiling at CES next month. Dubbed Zii, the new processor comes along side a newly-trademarked phrase, “Stemcell computing,” which bears absolutely no meaning at this point in time. As such, the only thing we can say with any certainty about the upcoming announcement is that Creative does not intend to market the new chip to pro-lifers. Marcom initiatives like this often make sensational claims in an effort to build hype but we still have some big expectations as Creative fan sites claiming to know what the company is up to seem pretty excited as we get closer to the announcement, now just over a week away. The new chip is reportedly intended for use in “a variety” of upcoming products though we have no idea what those products might be or how the Zii might benefit them. So sound off in the comments – what do you guys think Creative has planned for CES and more importantly, will it even matter as far as Creative’s US market share is concerned?

hype
I’d be pretty amazed if Creative came up with some game-changer which will have Intel shaking in it’s boots. But we’ll see.
The Cell, the IBM-partnerhip chip in the PS3, is very capable but runs too hot for a lappy.
Wow, this is some of the most egregious use of over the top hyperbole I have seen in a while. Makes Asus look like Playskool.
I didn’t think Creative made ICs. I guess this is something new for them. I wonder who will be doing the fab.
Also, stem cells can be harvested from other sources now, so you don’t need to use fetuses any more.

I lol’ed at the pro-life comment
The pro-life comment was pretty funny, but fyi, pro-lifers are actually for adult stem cells, just not embryonic.
In any case, it’ll be interesting to see what this is about. I had no idea that Creative made processors.
Fuck Creative. Why don’t you give us some good Vista drivers for our sound cards before you run off and try to do something else.
So the letter “i” has been getting a lot of love lately! First Apple went “i” crazy with the iMac, iPod and iPhone. Then Nintendo jumped on the “i” bandwagon with the Wii. And now the Zii? Really? Creative is not very creative with the name of this product. Oh, and pun was intended!
Hey, did you see the new X-Fi drivers for Vista? I heard it solves majority of the problems it used to have, you can download it off its tech site:

What this Zii thing is, is very simple. It brings Wii capabilities to the pc, acting simular to the ps3’s cell processor for global R&D but aimed at stem cell research instead, a device that further enhances audio capabilities, and a device that surpasses Asus’s accelerator in all their sound products. It might even be, all of the above built into an Ipod format which would obviously add Ipod capabilities.
-You don’t name your product Zii yield similar font for no reason unless you intend to compete.
-To this end, I have dream t of such gaming devices allowing full control of characters not just part like the Wii.
-The stem cell computing is just there to throw some fools off, but clearly this is similar to the PS3 R&D capabilities.
-You can expect a “broader” creative that will bring devices with more capabilities then ever before, opening up to many more markets.
-Now you can understand the following: You can expect, “a ReVoLuTiOn”, hint hint.
-Thought creative is unwise in hyping up a product b4 giving any details. It is better to downplay then to upplay. It may very well be a very good product, but what if you put in the mind’s of the consumer a product that itches perfection; then you might disappoint them. Let the media, and the will of the people decide what is revolutionary for they dictate.
