And so it ends: AT&T users report network outages amidst Wal-Mart’s iPhone 3G launch
Oops. Murphy’s Law may be in full swing today for the country’s largest GSM carrier at the worst-possible time – iPhone 3G / Wal-Mart launch day. We’ve yet to have any issues in the New York area but emails are hitting us en masse from AT&T customers reporting network outages across the east coast and beyond. Most reports recount difficulties with connecting via AT&T’s 3G network but some go further to detail voicemail difficulties, BlackBerry service outages and even complete network outages spanning hours at a time. This is obviously a pretty big deal for Wal-Mart locations in affected areas – imagine switching from your current carrier to snag a shiny new iPhone 3G and stepping out of the store only to find that your new toy won’t make a voice or data connection. Yikes. We spoke to AT&T after hours customer service and after about 30 minutes on hold, they did confirm “reports of network troubles” but couldn’t (or wouldn’t) specify which regions might be affected or whether or not these issues had been resolved. Time to sound off, BGR readers – any problems in your area?

No Edge network in Minneapolis, MN for the last 4+ hours. I’ve never noticed an outage like this before after owning the phone for a year, so no worries. Get it fixed.
Nobody is hyping.. My mobile is dead from morning (MI area). ATT customer care was flooded and finally they said they are trying to fix issue but no estimate. check this http://www.dexternights.com/?p=144

Our AT&T home line has been inconsistent all day yesterday and today. Our DSL is totally out. All of my AT&T cell phones are out and have been since Noon central standard time (it’s just about 2pm now).
We’ve no service here in central Michigan, just Emergency Only (or, so my read out says). Of course, there’s no Customer Support, on Sunday.
Everyone who uses this phone for “business” isn’t getting much business today. Thanks AT&T. I can’t even call to listen to my voicemail, and customers can’t leave me any voicemails. Call them and ask for a credit on your next bill. I got $10 off. They say it might take up to 48 hours for their tech suppor people to fix all the issues.
This is AT&T’s way of dropping the ball for the new year. Just look at their logo. 3 2 1…. Fail
no service in se michigan (detroit area). we have high winds so i attributed the outage to that until i read this article.
No service on iPhone Edge in NYC. Other AT&T friends without the iPhone seem to be fine…
My 3g iPhone is not working in Dayton or Cincinnati. F this. I hated AT&T before I woke up today but this isn’t helping
No data, or phone for the Northwest Chicago area for my Bold and Curve. F Walmart.
Oh yah, it’s down (southeast michigan). Now 4 hour, no service.
I’m sticking with T-mobile.
I my iPhone is totally out in Wixom Michigan.. No calls in or out (incoming gets busy signal) and no Internet access… They better credit us for this BS!
All ATT service is down in NW Indiana. When people call it rings busy and service cuts in and out……

I can make calls, send/receive sms, and bb data is fine. I’m unable to receive calls though, callers get an invalid # error.

no incoming calls or texts, but texts going out seem to be ok…i’m in indianapolis, been on GPS for about 3 hours
My wife’s Blackjack II is fine, though. She can make calls and receive texts. Only Edge but that’s mostly what we get out this far. She called my # and got a busy signal – no voice mail or anything.
Service up and down in Dallas, already switched to T-Mobile, AT&T sucks, no customer service and I can’t take it anymore….
I have a Samsung, my mom and dad have Blackberries and they are all not working… This is terrible ATT…..

Oh and forgot to mention, I told T-Mobile I am switching because of AT&T outage and the credited my account for the cancellation fee I have to pay T-Mobile…good riddance AT&T, hurry up guys switch to T-Mobile now if u plan on doing it. They may not offer this for long
