2009 Rogers / Fido roadmap leaked, leads to smartphone heaven
Just because it’s Christmas doesn’t mean that the mobile phone industry is safe from leaks. HoFo user clearskies08 has posted pictures which are purported to be from an internal Rogers and Fido flagship presentation. They reveal all of the flagship smartphones that the two carriers plan to release in 2009. Virtually every single phone in the line-up has been written about before in one way or another so we’ll spare you their specs, but rest assured, if even one quarter of the phones in the presentation end up hitting store shelves, 2009 is looking to be a hell of a year for Rogers and its dog. The lineup is too late. X1 in 2nd Q??!? N79 and N85 in 1st half of 09? These phones have been available on the market for a while.

i just noticed that it doesnt say if the only BB in the add is coming to fido. I assume it is since rogers has the pearl flip already but its unclear in the pics. (unless i missed it)

not related but spoke with a tmo 611 rep and they told me the storm could be a possibility for Tmo in Q3.
I instantly called shinagans but this Blackberry 9520 Storm (North American 3G GSM bands and 802.11 b/g WiFi) got me to thinking…
any thoughts?

Yup, I agree with you… Just ordered my X1a direct from SE. But even in Q3 people will see these phones and think they are brand new, because most people only follow what the carriers release.

There is most definitely a GSM 3g coming to the states and Canada. i have seen the proto’s of it. as far as i understand it will have both wi-fi, gps and have the 624mhz proc in it as well.

fido will be getting the old version of the pearl not the flip. The flip in this release will be for rogers and is an upgrade of the current flip. the current slip does not support 3g, video calling and both gps and wifi ability’s.
Currently the only Blackberry device to support both it the Bold.

ok, its been 5 months since this announcement. reports are showing telus & bell picking up the htc touch pro 2 soon. still no word from rogers on the touch pro (although they did announce the android phones for june). whats going on rogers?

I talked to a Rogers Field Rep at The Source about a month ago, and he completely denied any knowledge of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. I’m holding out for this one, but I keep hitting roadblocks. It IS on the Nokia.ca website … any word?
