Rumor: BlackBerry Curve 8900 headed to T-Mobile on February 18
We’re still in the process of trying to confirm this with our sources, but rumor has it that T-Mobile USA will be launching the BlackBerry 8900 Curve on the third Wednesday of February, the 18th. Leaps and bounds ahead of its predecessor, the new Curve features a beefy 512 MHz processor and 256MB of RAM, but is seriously hurt by its lack of 3G. Yes, this device is aimed towards the business crowd where it’s highly unlikely that anyone would approve the extra money for a 3G BlackBerry — especially if it has WiFi and UMA — but so help us we just can’t stare at the phone without thinking “No 3G! No 3G!” Major gripe aside, this device is a huge addition for the T-Mobile smartphone line-up which is currently very sketchy at best (no, the Wing just doesn’t cut it any more, especially at a ludicrous $299.99).
WOOHOO!!! I played with a Rogers Blackberry Curve II a couple weeks ago and absolutely loved it! It felt way better than the Bold I was rockin at the time and also the speed over the edge network was just as fast as the 3g speed on the Bold…can’t wait!

No 3G, No problem. If you haven’t realized yet T-mobile customers aren’t demanding a 3G blackberry. They are however are demanding more smart phones with UMA/WiFi support and the 8900 will be a nice addiction to T-Mobile current offerings.
Not the best review of an upcoming blackberry by far that I have seen on BGR. It was kind of negative as it said that no one would spend money on a Blackberry that doesn’t have 3G.
I find it funny that its perfectly fine for ATT, who has publicly announced that all their upcoming smart phone will support 3G, to release non 3G blackberries such as 8320 and soon to be released 8900. They come up BS excuses saying it is not a new phone its just an extension of the current 8200 offerings. Now let’s see how BGR will put a positive spin on the exact same phone once ATT confirms their release date.
Att is useless anyway! The enhanced EDGE on the Curve 8900 will likely run faster than their 3G!
Now if T-mo US will just release the 8900 soon and for similar pricing (dirt cheap and free) as it’s European cousins I’ll be very happy!
T-mo will probably price this at $199.
I agree with the 3G comments, the negative (battery drain) outweigh the positive (spotty coverage).

why would you need 3G on a blackberry? The browser sucks balls… last time I checked phone calls worked fine on EDGE…
It will be a useful exercise to conduct side-by-side speed/download tests between this 8900/Curve2 and a 3G device such as the 9000/Bold and 9500/Storm. Perhaps the difference isn’t as great as is often implied? Keep in mind that the EDGE networks are also improving, perhaps narrowing the otherwise large gaps with the HSPA networks.
My curve doesnt cut it anymore im ready for the upgrade. Hopefully it will come before 2/18!
no 3g is a bigger issue than no WIFI
and you damn near fell apart crying like a little two year old girls when the storm had no wifi. having no 3g on a device is like stepping 4 years into the PAST…..nice job RIM and Tmobile. It’s not like the 3g would help with Tmobile, thier 3g footprint makes ATT look HUGE.
Sure wish my VZW BB Curve had WiFi. Sure 3G is great, but works like hell in my home and office where WiFi sits!
give up on verizon if you’re waiting for wifi. Heck give up on vzw if you’re waiting for any phone that hasn’t been crippled beyond recognition.
I love it. T-mo needs more UMA business devices. This is right up my alley. As all the Execs here are jumping on the G1 with no Exchange support or any true business use, I (The I.T. guy) will be jumping on this as soon as I possibly can.

is it me, or is Verizon always the last one to get these great looking and working phones. I dont want the storm, i want the javelin or the bold. but for were i live at&t, or tmobile wont even get a signal in my house. verizon is the best for this area. And i live in A very populated area of NY. Someone please explain this to me. No phone will ever compete with the iphone as far as touch screens go, maybe a fun android device will come along that people will enjoy using, but it will never be an iphone. As for BB, I dont understand why they would even bother, shouldnt they just focus on putting out the best qwertys as possible. be the best at that, not a touch.BB should put these bolds, and javalins on all the networks. forget this exclusive non sense. because Verizon doesn’t have the iphone means BB thinks there doing them a favor for making a touch screen. its a sick corporate cat and mouse game.
This article says 196 MB of RAM, I believe it has 256.
