Actual T-Mobile G2 information… maybe

We just got a tip about the next Google Android-powered handset for T-Mobile, yes, the G2. We’re running this as a rumor as it’s definitely not confirmed, but we’d bet on this turning out to be true as opposed to, well, you know… Here’s what our tipster had to say:
- The product specs on the T-Mobile G2 that CellPhoneSignal ran weren’t actually all that far off, just the date was completely wrong.
- The device is a full touch device and there is no physical QWERTY keyboard.
- There is still a trackball at the bottom.
- The launch was delayed from late February to April due to software issues.
- We’ve been informed this device will actually launch on another global carrier besides T-Mobile as well, though they didn’t say who, and they said that the G1, G2, G3, etc., names are trademarks of T-Mobile and the other carrier would have a different product name for the device other than G2.
- There is supposedly (oh, god) a G3 coming not that far after the G2 but our tipster didn’t see the G3.
Ah! Maybe that’s why HTC isn’t bringing a Touch HD to America… Makes sense now doesn’t it? Again, full on rumor status at the moment, but we figured we’d warm your souls with this bit of info on this cold ass night.

This whole post is such old news. Howardforums Phonedog TmoNews and my grannys hair stylist have been running this rumor for months. Except that they all know the phone is codenamed Sapphire. That annoying phonedog guy even said it on his podcast like two months ago. BGR is SLIPPInG aWAY on Old Crusty Rumors. Stick to reviews and stupid but fun podcasts with Melo and get out of the lame “tipster” game, bgr. Your tipsters don’t know jack aparently
“G”od
so this is not the G2, if its from another carrier then its just another android phone.
All of you who complain about no physical keyboards are either old or ignorant. You gotta learn how to use them, just like you had to learn how to finger your blackberry
HOtt and SExy to say the LEast!
If the G3 is the G2+keyboard then I’m waiting.
If the G2 is not a high resolution phone (800X480) then it’s a NO BUY for me.
A touch only G1 was reported a few weeks back as a gap filler product prior to a G2. It’s all rumor no mater what the source. http://www.iphonesavior.com/2008/12/tmobile-planning-a-touchonly-g1-handset.html
I know the phone companies and makers have a good laugh when they read these web sites. Its probaly the first thing they do when they get to the office and have a meeting and talk about these so called rumors. They also must say how stupid some of these people are to get so excited over just a rumor and nothing else.
whats more funny is how kids on the website get excited over an OS which is quite bereft of features compared to most run-of-the-mill samsung, motorola, nokia phones … no a2dp, no video playback/capture, etc.
You’re forgetting to add that the g2 will have UMA (voice over Wi-Fi) capabilities…
I want to hope the other carrier is AT&T but if they’re no a member of the OHA…I guess not.
Touch HD with Android OS
Ok so yea reading all these comments, I think there is a lot of ppl worried. Well I have a CONFIRMED report that T-Mobile will be release a G2 for T-Mobile. It will have a “HD” display with a full keyboard and the screen tilts (Kinda like the AT&T’s Tilt). It’s unofficial release date/time is August of 2009
Now roll that up and smoke it BoyGenius!
This is a photoshop, i have the Touch HD and the G1 and for one i dont think i can deal with just a onscreen keyboard and just to let you all know as said before it will not launch so fast it will be in the late summer or the fall. and for those that have a G1 you think they would let you buy a g1 and think you will be freaking pissed if you bought the g1 and not give you a special price just as they did with the Iphone 2g and 3g think ppl. yes the Touch HD is not in the USA yet and are thinking about it as the CSO of HTC as told me in email lol im not that important. (I Work for T-mobile on the HTC Tech help)as said in eariler post HTC and t-mobile has a 3 yr contact that any htc phone with android will only be sold to t-mobile. There will be other android phones from other phone providers. So hell no the touch HD will not be with another carrier are you stupid what sense will that make this isnt the Touch pro with WinMo for sprint at att this is a Andriod phone. it sounds to me like you all didnt do your homework with the G1 was being lunched they Specifically stated that htc will exclusively will be making andriod phones for t-mobile. thats why that droped so much money with them in the first place. if it was like that it would be like the Wing and other weak ass HTC devices. well thats all i got to say
Just to let you know guys that rjmor mongering is against tge law. your worst than an old women.
the keyboard is on the screen…full touchscreen….like the iphone.
A few things:
The next HTC Android phone is not G2 – but still a HTC Android phone. However:
- Does not have a physical Qwerty but does have a virtual QWERTY that works well with improvements over iPhone
- Has 5 mechanical buttons and a trackball – same trackball as G1
As for a G3…
If all improvments are software bassed I would stay with G1, the software is what make the G1 so powerfull. btw theirs a new app called “mms save” that will allow you to save pics sent to you to the media card check it out.
Fujitsu Siemens Pocket PC 4.20
Why would a physical keyboard be helpful? with a touch screen like this one an onscreen touch keyboard works far better!
you have a BS folder?
The idea is for Tmo to get people on board with a good and decent android phone to pick up new customers and keep those who felt tmo was slacking in the 3G and advanced phones market.
Now, they can and will release this phone for more than likely a $100 premium over the G1. Start your vacuums.
What is interesting about this photo is, the time of day in the upper-right corner.
The second “10″ seems larger, and may even be a slight variant of the font used in the first “10″
Although this may be a photoshop, dosnt mean the phone is not a real idea of what a G2 could be, either. April will come slowly, I am sure.
No KEYBOARD???? That kills it for me… The keyboard is integral!!! Why every other mobile manufacturer wants to be so badly an iphone??? Pathetic!!! Suck ups!!!
Money money money is why everyone wants to be a IPhone wannabe. They are making a killing off that phone and eveyrone is trying to be the next big money maker.
