Actual T-Mobile G2 information… maybe

We just got a tip about the next Google Android-powered handset for T-Mobile, yes, the G2. We’re running this as a rumor as it’s definitely not confirmed, but we’d bet on this turning out to be true as opposed to, well, you know… Here’s what our tipster had to say:
- The product specs on the T-Mobile G2 that CellPhoneSignal ran weren’t actually all that far off, just the date was completely wrong.
- The device is a full touch device and there is no physical QWERTY keyboard.
- There is still a trackball at the bottom.
- The launch was delayed from late February to April due to software issues.
- We’ve been informed this device will actually launch on another global carrier besides T-Mobile as well, though they didn’t say who, and they said that the G1, G2, G3, etc., names are trademarks of T-Mobile and the other carrier would have a different product name for the device other than G2.
- There is supposedly (oh, god) a G3 coming not that far after the G2 but our tipster didn’t see the G3.
Ah! Maybe that’s why HTC isn’t bringing a Touch HD to America… Makes sense now doesn’t it? Again, full on rumor status at the moment, but we figured we’d warm your souls with this bit of info on this cold ass night.

come on guys you just mess the best part of the phone which was the keyboard
i dont know what the G2 will look like, but i’ve been trying to figure this out myself to see if it’s worth the wait. im hoping the g2 will have a keyboard and a good camera. the keyboard was one of the main reasons i chose the g1 over the iphone and it’s the reason everyone with an iphone tells me they want one, that, and the forwarding, photo messaging, and the fact that you can charge it like a wireless ps3 controller
to be honest, i’d just be happy if it had the same technology as long as it didnt look like a cheap cricket phone made with recycled plastic :/ <<<sorry but im sure most people feel the same.
Well, on schedule T-Mobile and Google is having a launch party in about two weeks, April 2009. Those in the know say it will be to announce the G2.
Also, it is apparently the HTC phone that is in Europe, or similar to it will be a phone without a keyboard.
Not surprising, as I said before, the G2 is not a replacement for the G1, it’s an alternative for those who prefer a keyboardless phone, or iPhone fans.
In regards to the iPhone, a few of the reasons I chose the G1 is 1) has a keyboard; and 2) has a removeable battery.
I prefer a keyboard and I can’t imagine being held hostage to an internal battery, built in. Already on my G1 I bought two extended batteries for it. Love having that extra battery power, e.g., if the power ever goes out I have batteries on hand.
When the iPhone came out those were the two things that were big deal breakers for me.
I love my G1 and won’t go to any phone that does not have a physical keyboard.
I currently own the G1, and I enjoy it very much. With that being said there are a few things I myself would have done differently with this phone. We could all hope that the G2 will be generally similar/ more a less an upgrade. Also, I would like to add that, even though I am very fond of my G1 and android technology… I find it rather un-fulfilling, that a phone of such magnitude does not have a video recorder; and as well no flash for the camera(what good is a 3.2mp camera with no flash- do explain the idea behind that!). So can someone answer me this, will the G2 have these things that an average phone that isn’t an ass load of money have? As far as the issue of not having the full qwerty keyboard; this I believe is a liking people have just gotten very comfortable with and it won’t be hard for people to advance with the touch screen technology. Lastly, I would also like to include and agree with some of the statements above; the design of the G1 is a tad on the generic looking side of things. For the price you pay for a phone of this magnitude it should look more sophisticated and classy. But on that note I’ve probably rambled on about my own opinion just a little more than I originally wanted to–furthermore the G2 will be a nice addition to the T-mobile family and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
I’m waiting on this phone I am already tired of my G1.
There won’t be a G2 all the updates that were surpose to be on the G2 have been updated to the G1 it took alomost 3 hrs for the update to complete I can now use full key board touch screen + more it’s cool
toch compleas
Probably will have a keyboard, most HTC design phones have a slide out keyboard.
if its a HTC phone. most HTC phones are thick, heavy, and powerful phones; packed with everything to make any tech hungry person satisfied.
