BlackBerry Curve 8900 sashays into the UK via T-Mobile
British friends, rejoice! T-Mobile, sneaky as it is, has just launched a country-wide sneak attack – bombarding store locations across the island. Here in the US we’re still in the dark as far as when the 8900 might find its way to AT&T or T-Mobile, but every time we see it launched abroad we get a slight glimmer of hope. Maybe. As far as T-Mobile UK pricing goes, here’s how it breaks down with an 18-month contract term:
- Combi 15: £15.00 ($22.77) / month – £166.37 ($252.57)
- Combi 20: £20.00 ($30.36) / month – £127.22 ($193.14)
- Combi 25: £25.00 ($37.95) / month – £97.87 ($148.58)
- Combi 30: £30.00 ($45.54) / month – £58.72 ($89.15)
- Combi 35: £31.50 ($47.82) / month – FREE
- Combi 40: £36.00 ($54.65) / month – FREE
Not bad T-Mobile, not bad at all. Of course if you head on over to our BlackBerry Curve 8900 giveaway you can take home a free 8900 for £0.00 / month, but these deals are still pretty good. So, if your current handset is moving cellular data way too fast for you, head on over to your local T-Mobile shop and get your EDGE on. Woo!
Thanks, Everett!

Got one for one of my colleagues after getting a Bold myself… It’s a very sleek, stylish unit, lightweight and well-built. However I wouldn’t trade it in for my Bold, which just feels better. And also I need the 3G for my travels.
T-Mobile is really pushing down the prices of these handsets. How do “dumb” phones compete against this? They don’t. The 8900 for free? That’ll move some serious units.
Why do we have to be tortured like this??
Come on AT&T let get things rolling!!
Man, I am not only going to switch carriers, but I thinking about switching countries too!!
if att doesn’t get this before tmo i will switch carriers in a heartbeat.
I’m still hopeful about Monday (Dec 21) release on ATT. BB214 – we’re counting on your prediction!
If they are going to release this unit on Monday, then the stores should be getting there stock in today….hmmm….I just may have to swing by the local store and buddy up to a clerk! Will post back if useful info is found.
I wish as a T-Mobile USA customer we could easily order one of these online through MyTMobile and utilize our subsidy discount options….
The UK keyboard should be the same as the US version unlike the German one.
Does T-Mobile UK also support UMA service on the handsets they subsidize?
Regarding a Monday release, why would AT&T release the new version of the Curve less than a week after releasing an “new” old version of the Curve (8320)?
They wouldn’t. I am thinking most likly they will not get them in until after the holidays and hope that people looking for a new bb for the holidays will pick up the new old 8320 instead.
I think the 8320 was announced to get rid of the inventory prior to 8900 launch. They’ve already sold out of all of their 8320 units and BB is not manufacturing any more for ATT at this point (per BB214’s post).
I see your point about it not making sense to release 8900 within a week of the 8320, but I remain optimistic!
Plus nothing is stopping ATT to keep the 8320 on the market alongside 8900 at a reduced price. T-Mobile has kept 8100 alongside the 8120.
But for some odd reason, the 8900 hasn’t sashayed into the US
If they’re clearing inventory, they would probably not release them so close together. Otherwise, you could see a bevy of 8320 returns from people who really would rather have the 8900, and you’re stuck with even more inventory before, inventory which you’d have to sell at a reduced price (presumably) than what you originally sold it at, unless the Curve 8900 is going to be significantly more expensive than the 8320 (which let’s hope not given the other pricing for it out there).
I just talked to the local ATT store manager and he said that the stores are not going to get any of the 8320 until mid January, it’s online only and they DO have stock. As far as the 8900 releasing on Monday “that’s a pipe dream”. He is anxiously waiting on one, just as we are, and he said NOTHING as for as emails, promotional material, inventory, or even a delivery date has come across his desk.
For some reason I actually believe him.
I think AT&T is going to hold onto these for a while. I don’t doubt at all that it’s coming, but I do believe AT&T may hold these until February if they’re going to push the 8320s into stores in January. But I could be wrong. BB214 did say that the latest ETA he saw was the 22nd but he also said that the date could change and T-Mobile could push their date up since things are moving so fast. Only time will tell! One things for sure, it probably won’t be until after Christmas at this point considering its the 19th.
if my memory serves me correctly, which it doesn’t very often, I seem to remember the last two valentine’s days being big for bb/att. I know the pearl and the red lg shine were both heavily marketed this last v-day. maybe att is waiting on this date for the 8900. it would allow pre-christmas sales of the 8320 to go beyond the 30 day period for returns and would give about two months to sell those 8320’s.
Here’s hoping that T-Mobile USA will have comparable plans. Free 8900 for $48/month is cheaper than my iPhone plan.
I can’t believe u guys just used the word “sashayed”. Last time i heard that word was….what was that?….’91….Billy Crystal…City Slickers!!…LOL
wow….i need some new friends or something…lol…:’-(
Hmm, well this is random and surely has nothing to do with a release date (i dont think), but for anyone that doesn’t know, and may want to see more pictures of the Jav, the FCC is releasing Internal and External photos of the Jav on 12/27. Here’s the link:
https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Sum&calledFromFrame=N&RequestTimeout=500&application_id=155002&fcc_id=‘L6ARBZ40GW’
T-mobile USA has the demos in house and the 8900’s should be released within 3-4 weeks.
