Verizon BlackBerry Storm Return Rate

Here’s the skinny on this situation… We had heard various return rates on the Verizon BlackBerry Storm from three (actually four, but we’ll discount the last one) extremely credible sources of ours. These ranged from 35-50% in some markets/regions. That is an absurdly high figure, folks. While we trust our sources, we wanted to continue to dig until we wrote up a post on it here. We let a publication quote us on that, because that is what we had heard. No harm, no foul.  But we weren’t going to post on it here until we had 100% confirmed it.

Verizon Wireless hit us up and here’s what a Verizon Wireless official had to say: “The Storm has the lowest return rate of any of our PDAs and at this point in its life cycle, it has the lowest return rate of any PDA we currently sell.”

We’ll let you guys do all the talking. Own a Storm? Happy with it? Returned it? Know friends that are happy/returned theirs? Hit us up so we can get some good feedback and your thoughts on this.

The suited up Toyota Supra smoked the Ferrari’s ass. just like how the Blackberry Storm can run circles around the iPhone. Twice.

    The iPhone is Pretty….useless

returning my Storm after 3 weeks of fruitless attempts to tolerate the lag time, random screen flipping, mistypes, and generally stinky responsievness.
Wish Verizon would get it together and offer international options on all their phones instead of two Blackberrys – 8830 and Storm that are sub-standard. No camera or navi on 8830, and, well, the slow and tempremental storm.

    @ tinytubs

i found out that some of the lag time is due to the multitude of opened programs running at the same time. a simple shut off and turn on is a quick way to speed things up again. the next firmware update should resolve this issue permanently.

Brother in law and I did a side by side.

    NO CONTEST!! IPHONE HANDS DOWN!!!

Hopfully for the storm users, an update or 10 will get it in the same ballpark as the IPhone.

I have had one for close to a month. I’m returning it because it is really slowing my productivity down. I thought the Facebook and Flickr apps would be much more robust. By the time I log in to my apps I could have opened my laptop and been working frustration free.

Im nearing my 30 day return policy and Im at odds wether to keep it or switch to another phone. I’m sticking around for the updates and hopefully it will clear up some of the cliches. the phone has potential but with some of the problems am having with it can make it disappointing. I’ve had problems with recording videos…it freezes on me at any given moment. I’ve have problems with my visual voice mail, I had problems with txt messages…received them 4 to 12 hours later. I do enjoy the web browser and the aim application. I guess its true…its not the perfect storm.

yay! so glad I got rid of my useless iPhone 3G :D

I love my storm, love texting with the clickable keyboard and my friends actually get my messages right away. no more waiting for 5-6 hours later to receive them messages. and i also love the copy and paste feature, makes it so easy to text all of my friends at once. e-mail and text messaging on the storm is top notch and customizable. web browsing on it is also a breeze. Love it!

maybe some of you got the older batch of storms. my version is 0.75 is very stable. I’ve never had a problem with it.

I’m not gonna sell this storm until the next Storm or a much better smartphone comes out.
but definately not the crippled iPhone. the next update for the storm will add more features to it. can’t wait. :P

Ok guys, do people not understand that everything has quirks that need to be fixed with EVERYTHING. Ok, everyone look back, the Iphone was also a pos when it first came out, laggy, accelorometer not up to par and what-not. Now look at it, its like OMFG I NEEDS ME AN IPHONE RIGHT NAO BECAUSE IT’S SO HARDCORE. Also, if you guys are any type of gamers, look at all of the systems in the past, except Nintendo, because their stuff is allways finished and finished right when they release it. Ok xbox original, CATCHES FIRE on earlier systems. PS2 Slim, Overheats like a B****. X-Box 360, Hey guys lets put an adhesive that’s melts when the system is on too long becuase the adhesive has a low melting point, then it’ll ef up everyone’s system causing the Red Ring of Death YEAH THAT’S A GREAT IDEA. PS3……….yeah. Everything pretty much blows when it first comes out because they were rushed to get it out on a due date that was too early. Updates fix basically everything there is that needs to be fixed. Like I said, the Iphone wasn’t as “awesome” as it is now when it first came out, and Neither is the Storm.

For all the phonies on here that claim to be throwing away, what they claim is a useless iPhone. Please contact me I will pay you some money for the iPhones. Why throw them away, I will take them off your hands?

My guess there will be not one person who actually wants to sell their iPhone to me. BUT if you are game I got the green!

Oh, I don’t have any desire to buy BB Storms, the return line is the longer one on the left!

    what are you talking about?

the ESSENTIAL features that make up a smartphone are still not there. the iphone is STILL half baked. marketing iphone hype. the Storm is flawless. has everything I need in a smartphone. if you actually OWNED the storm you would know. The storm has so much features packed in that the iphone hasn’t even come close to offering anything within the past 2 iterations. The iPhone is an iPhoney fone. it can’t even do well as a real phone. thats why i finally jumped ship! to all you idiots out there that are still holding on to the iPhone: The iPhone is a piece of crap!

Returning mine for the same reasons! I had the chance to use both the iphone for a month and the storm for about a week…iPhone is more user friendly…they both have the pros and cons, whether you use it for business or personal use etc… but lets just say it was more frustrating using the storm than the iphone. although bb instant messaging rocks!
Returning the storm today, will try the HTC Touch pro.
p.s. oh yeah, people sometimes had difficulties hearing me, although signal strength was full but reception sometimes sucked. (this is with Telus Mobility in canada, calgary)

I owned an Apple iPhone and terminated my contract with AT&T to switch to the BlackBerry Storm. At first, I was ‘ok’ with the Storm. As I have continued to use it, I become more and more disappointed and I am reverting back to my original proclamation that a ‘touchscreen’ BlackBerry is a horrible idea. I am an avid BlackBerry user for business – the Storm was being used for my ‘personal’ e-mails. I can’t stand it.

I will find out in the next four hours whether I will stick with Verizon and switch to a Palm Treo 700wx or if I am going to revert back to the crappy AT&T network just to have my precious iPhone back.

I guess the iPhone is MORE useful to some power users. So much for the Storm being flawless, seems to many users it is the useless device with all these returns. I tried the Storm, it was far from flawless, with NO WiFi, decent apps, a crappy media player and no voice and data use at the same time I thought it was hardly a smartphone.

    Jerry Collins says:

I have two major problems with the Storm. 1. The reception is terrible. Put side by side with the Blackberry 8830 or the Motorola RAZR … Storm has no bars, other two have minimum of three. 2. Extremely difficult to use contacts list in portrait mode. Keyboard is impossible in that mode.

I bought this as a blackberry first, a phone second. The typing is slow and difficult. I love the gadgets. But realized that when I waited to return a message until I could get back to the office to type it on my computer—-it was time to return the Storm!

TP, I have really tried to like this phone. First phone for me with true push email. Coming from a Treo 700w with lags galore this phone is quick. What is killing me though is this press screen. Typos are horrible and correcting them is worse. The screen seems fragile and you know if it malfunctions, VZW will claim water damage and not replace it for you. No wifi is unacceptable in this day. I’ve looked at Omnia but having had less than stellar experience with WinMo makes me nervous. So how is the Omnia?
