Verizon BlackBerry Storm Return Rate

Here’s the skinny on this situation… We had heard various return rates on the Verizon BlackBerry Storm from three (actually four, but we’ll discount the last one) extremely credible sources of ours. These ranged from 35-50% in some markets/regions. That is an absurdly high figure, folks. While we trust our sources, we wanted to continue to dig until we wrote up a post on it here. We let a publication quote us on that, because that is what we had heard. No harm, no foul. But we weren’t going to post on it here until we had 100% confirmed it.
Verizon Wireless hit us up and here’s what a Verizon Wireless official had to say: “The Storm has the lowest return rate of any of our PDAs and at this point in its life cycle, it has the lowest return rate of any PDA we currently sell.”
We’ll let you guys do all the talking. Own a Storm? Happy with it? Returned it? Know friends that are happy/returned theirs? Hit us up so we can get some good feedback and your thoughts on this.

I have a BB Storm and I want to return it but for what there isn’t any other good phone on verizon. If i wasn’t on a family plan i would switch my service and reutrn my phone for the ATT Bold

Terrible defence…BGR is never wrong (usually) they’re just trying to cover their ass because they finally got something good exclusive and its not panning out as well as they thought it would.

I have a Storm and I like it. I’ve had Treo’s for 5 years and think this is a real step forward. I also have an Apple Touch but an iPhone won’t meet my corporate needs. I’m happy.

Own one, love it, not returning it. Took a couple of days to get used to, but it’s great. Obviously it’s not perfect, but what device is?

I have it and I love it. I only wish I could use the internet while I was making a phone call. Other than that, it is solid.

I absolutely love it. The only problem I have with it is the lag time, but it’s not so bad that I want to toss it. Plus I’m sure with a couple more updates, the lag time will be practically negligible.

I own a storm and enjoy it. So does my sister and another friend. But we are not “power users” The 4th person I know who has owned it is a power user, and he sold his on ebay the day after he got it.
I have had minimal problems with the OS, Screen, and the phone in general. There are some things I would change, but I am keeping the phone.

OF COURSE VZW says there’s nothing happening. If word got out that the Storm was a piece of junk people would stop buying it.
I’m just glad I got to try it for myself without having to buy it or I’d be pissed & returning it too.

I tried the Storm the day it came out and didn’t care for it. Work bought me one anyway and now I love it. I agree, it isn’t perfect, but it is getting better with each new software release.

I won my storm in Times Square and was very skeptical about a touchscreen blackberry. in fact since i got the phone for free i was planning on selling it if it wasnt that great as i was more than happy with my pearl.
my initial reaction to the phone was that the learning curve is steeper than other pda’s however as far as touch screens go it is a great phone. the typing is a little slower than my pearl and can be frustrating at times but the user interface and other new features make up for it.
There was some lag in the phone but once i deleted out the extranous programs (visual voice mail, vz navigator, etc.) it has been really responsive.

Own two of them (one corporate and one personal), no problems whatsoever. I know three other people that have them as well. They are all completely satisfied. Not sure why so many people are against this device. True, it’s not an iPhone but is that always a bad thing?! Couple more updates and this thing will be smoking!!

Love the Storm. Long time blackberry user and while the menus and interface are much different, it is another blackberry powerhouse. Almost every complaint I have seen is due to user error not actual phone issues. And people complaining about the speed of doing certain things should really try other touchscreens on the market; they are just as slow or slower.
Hardware is solid. Software has a few issues, which, like all blackberrys, will be addressed through OS updates.

My business partner, My mom(go figure), and I all got it on its release date. We all were coming from Treo’s after roughly about 4-5 years using Palm. With that said, We LOVE this phone. Not even thinking about taking it back. Palm had its issues too and there is no such thing as the perfect PDA. Verizon is working out the kinks very swiftly(hence the swift update).
My girlfriend has the I-Phone 3G and yea, its very cool.It just isn’t for me.

I just got mine in the mail today actually. I havent activated it yet, but I’m excited to start using it. The demos I’ve used at the VZW stores have shown lag but until I use it for myself on a day to day basis I cant make a final decision.

I think it’s obvious that most people that hated it, used for maybe a day or two, and made a snap decision. I have had mine since the day it launched, and after an initial learning curve, I absolutely love it. Best phone I have ever had. As someone else said, it’s definitely not perfect, but there is NO phone that is. That’s right, even the iPhone.
I’m also typing almost as fast as I ever did with my 8830. Once you get a rhythm down, it’s actually a very good keyboard.

Oh and I would consider us POWER users as well.

Bought the Storm online the day it came out and it was DOA. It took about 10 calls to customer service and 1 trip to a corporate store to get it straightened out. I was 1 more unhelpful phone call away from switching to ATT. Finally, I just returned it and went back to my curve.

I returned mine last week. Great internet device but if you are a heavy blackberry user this device is worthless. I’m back to my ATT curve. the best blackberry!

i own and love the phone. the reality is that people are loking for a phone to defeat the iphone. this wont happen because the iphone is more concerned with things other then the PHONE part. it is an amazing device but the storm is solid. bb email reliebility with a good touch screen. there will not be another iphone. pick what is important to u and go from there.

I have a storm that my office gave me. I dont love it only bc i had a bold for a week and i miss it. I did not return it although, after reading various forums, people returned their storms for reasons that were mostly software related hoping they would get a better phone. Also, readers on these forums would read posts about different prod numbers and made in canada is better than made in mexico and were returning phones 2,3 sometimes even 4 times to get what they THINK is better hardware.
i think what BG heard is IMO more likely than what verizon is saying. People are exchanging storms at a high rate.

Ive owned my storm for over 2 weeks and have had no problems. I havent even updated the software version yet, still running .65 Figured with no problems didnt need to. Ive had the iphone hated it and could even make or stay connected on a phone call. With the storm the real feature, a phone, works great and i love this BB. Typing took a couple days to get into but now i fly. Just like anything some people hate it some love it…i got a great model maybe i was lucky…either way im happy

I’ve had it since launch and hated it the first couple of days. Once I got over the learning curve, especially with full typing, I couldn’t imagine not having it. It’s about as perfect a blend of corporate needs with personal needs. I can understand how some would come to a snap decision and return it, but with latest release and more to come, I couldn’t be happier.

Tried it, hated it. The click touchscreen is the worst idea I’ve ever seen.
