Upcoming 2009 handsets from Motorola pose for BGR on their way to Verizon

Well lookie here. Motorola apparently has a few tricks up its sleeve that might just surprise us in the coming year. Well they would have any way, if our trusty ninja didn’t come through with the goods! Moto fans, feast your eyes on four sexy handsets coming your way in what is shaping up to be Motorola’s final shot at survival. For the time being details are slim; in fact pretty much all we have are images, the knowledge that they’re all hitting Verizon Wireless, code names and a 2009 time frame (though we do know the RUSH 2 will be out during Q1, likely early in the quarter). We’re seeing some big changes here in terms of common styling cues from Moto – just look at the FLASH, pictured above. Sharp angles and raised, blended buttons – it actually looks pretty hot! There’s plenty more where that came from of course, so hit the jump for shots of the other three handsets.

Fernando: Probably because there is a huge gap in the CDMA iphone-killer market.

I just hope that one of these runs Android/Linux.

in response to “fernando” i have to point out that Motorola just got a HUGE contract with China Mobile to expand their CDMA network, and that a lot of their phones have been heading toward the CDMA carriers lately. Looks like they may have found what might save the company.

Why Verizon? Because Verizon has NOTHING in their current stable except for the addled Storm. TMobile has the G1, AT&T has Bold & iPhone!

Windows logo on the Flash might mean a proper WinMo device or (dare I dream) a Tegra WinMo device?! Now if only their data plans weren’t so hideous….

The Flash is a larger HTC touch diamond. HTC does phones right, and unless they have a super sensitive touch screen that works nicely, thats going to be to little to late, so the story of motorola. Rush 2 looks like a solid POS. the Calgary is a dumbphone, so much for that, maybe some android love to that could make it a buyable device, and last and least the inferno. A new version of a failing verizon dumbphone. Horay moto, if this is your last stand, i think your only business will be walkie talkies for police.

WOW! They have the WOW that you see only from unique device destined to make it.

Why CDMA? No the question is why not a universal phone for any provider and any technology?

Wasn’t that what happened with the Razr?

Hello!! Palm… Hello!! RIM… Are you going to keep the same form factor for another 15 years?

I don’t know if I like the red keyboard on the RUSH 2, though, it’s rather strong for my tastes.
