Rumored release date for the T-Mobile Shadow II

The Shadow II / Shadow 2 / Shadow 2009 / whatever else you want to call it, is quite the polarizing device. People are either sitting on the edges of their seats in anticipation of its release, or they think it’s hideous. Either way, we now have a rumored release date, giving T-Mobile customers a good idea of when their next Windows Mobile smartphone option might become available. That date: January 28th – a Wednesday. Sources weren’t cited but TmoNews seems pretty confident so we’ll just hope for the best. For a quick history lesson, we first scooped the Shadow II waaaaaay back in October of 2007 and then the first live image surfaced in April of this year. Since then nearly all of the gaps have been filled in but there are still a few mysteries – namely, will the device have a 3G radio? If the 28th of next month does indeed turn out to be an accurate release date, expect answers to come in the form of an official announcement that will likely coincide with CES next month.

Is it touchscreen? If yes, the does it have TouchFlo 3d? If not, does it have the software similar to the original HTC Shadow?

    And specs?

    Thanks much.

As long as it’s got UMA, it’s a contender. Either this or the Curve 8900, hmm…

T-Mobile needs to quit releasing these mediocre handsets and really put out a powerhouse like the Touch Pro or BB Bold, or at least something decent like the E71 or E63. I really doubt handsets like these are going to win over any new subscribers.

They just put out the G1 which will get a lot of the feature-phone set. I agree that they could use a modern WinMo or BB device for those who need the Exchange or other corporate email support.

The Shadow II doesn’t have HSPA (”3G”), but precisely for that reason it has UMA now, as opposed to July 2009 when HSPA becomes compatible with UMA.

    @ J-son,

T-Mobile should be getting the Touch Pro as the Wing 2 or something (it will be identible to T-Mobile UK’s MDA Vario 4).

They should be getting the Pixon as the Memoir.

They should be getting the BlackBerry 8900.

    Should…should…should…

They BETTER be getting those phones.

Not for nothing, this phone quite aesthetically unappealing, in other words it’s “fugly.”
