Official Motorola i9 images emerge, release imminent
Well look who decided to come back and poke its head out again. The Motorola i9 we first showed you live images of back in October is making news again as official pics begin to scatter across the internet. This sweet-looking love child of a rambunctious RAZR and ROKR is apparently gearing up for a release soon and it will likely be well received among the dumbphone crowd, assuming the price is right. A 3 megapixel camera with auto focus and flash, ModeShift and integrated GPS are among the features that might draw in Sprint customers. So, iDEN people, first the 8350i is made official and now this – you guys feeling the love or are both the handsets already old news?

Is this a hybrid device?
Nope, all IDEN
Nope, all IDEN. That’s why the article references Nextel
All iDEN? Not even Sprint compatible? That seems like a step backwards.
Although I must say that I really like the look of this, even more so in official snapshots.
this is why moto is failing, they come out with sexy phones but send them to a company that has the least amount of customers! moto, come out with a regular razr/rokr but bring it to att, verizon, sprint(not iden) and it will actually make you money!!!!
u know what it is a step backwards a phone with features on slow network well the features are useless sprint come on you are making no sense
Ugh…This is kinda a dumb question but what is iDen? Is it like a network like sprint or verizon?
Alex, IDEN made a ton of money for Moto until Sprint ran destroyed the product. This device will make more money for Moto with IDEN than it would with ATT. If it was on ATT you would never hear about it. ATT has not promoted a MOTO since the release of the original RAZR.
This is a very nice device. 3mp camera, nice touch.
I not sure I understand IDEN phones. Aren’t they suposed to be cellular and radio in one?
Being spring/nextel one thing why it’s not the best carrier?
Maybe someone can help me to clear this out.
Really? Cause I’m pretty sure I saw a lot of MotoROKR Z9 commercials during the summer, and even some Moto Q9h commercials…
Oooh!!! Another slim flip phone that looks like it was designed in 2004! I must have eet!
LOL @ DCH – very nice.
iDen phones will sell better as hybrid devices.
Iden is the one and only network for ptt.It is and will always be the fastest network for ptt. Data is slower on iden , but Nextel(before sprint) had the data speed faster than any 3G network in a small launch in north carolina before the merger. Sprint put the brakes on it because they thought the could move all the subscribers over to cdma. But that did was the opposite of what happened. Now that NII has had such a sucess in other countries Sprinthas rethought the whole Iden direction. That is why you see this phone coming out and others. Besides all that this is a flip phone how much web or data are you planning on looking at on a flip anyway. Sounds like you haveto much time on your hands if you’re staring into your phone all day.People who use it are ptt users and Iden is hands down the best for that. You will see alot of upgrades in the near future for Nextel’s Iden. IDEN is MOTO’s biggest customer and system they created so of course they will give them unique devices.
