I want the Black version unlocked! not with AT&T. Even though I have ATT as my carrier, I would rather enjoy the freedom of unlocked E71 around the world, and the sexy appeal of black color.

First AT&T destroyed the marketing for IPhone, now they want E71.. wtf!

Ok, I am looking to replace my 3G iPhone with E71 but before I do that and pay $420 I have a question about the E-Mail on E71.

Will I be able to add my .Mac, Yahoo and Gmail accounts on the E71, and also will my messages automatically show up on my E71 as i receive them (like the case with iPhone) or I will need to constantly check my E71 to see if I have received new emails.

i think we are getting closer to a release of the nokia e71x since they have know made an official all black e71 which resembles at&t’s nokia e71x. and i am hearing a feruary 09 release.

e71-1 (HSDPA 900 / 2100 (EU variant))
e71-2 (HSDPA 850 / 1900 (US variant))
e71-3 (HSDPA 850 / 2100 (SA variant))

The E71-3 was launched in Brazil due to the available dualband network in the country. Australia has its own version as well though i don’t know the variant number.

What’s the difference between the -1, -2, and -3 models of each phone?

I’m guessing, according to most other Nokia models, the -1 has the two European 3G bands at the -3 has either one or both of the US 3G bands.

Help me out.

of course I posted that last little bit after reading the random postings, and before I hit the jump to the e71x. Wow. Either my nokia rep is completely out of the loop or she’s a very devious trickster.

So I talked to our local area Nokia rep who was in my store touting the benefits of the 6650. yeah it’s a pretty cool phone at the price point it’s at. However I saw her own E71 peeking out of her purse pouch straining for attention. i asked when the E71 will be offered by att, and she made a quick covert glance at the phone (swear to god i read “GODDAMMIT” in her eyes) and began to tell me that nokia and att don’t really play well together in the “labs”. And that with the E71 being what it is, and with the E61/E62 fiasco with att (?) it’s probably not gonna happen. If it does it’ll be all att’d out with telenav, and yellowpages, and att music etc. etc. etc. Apparently Nokia doesn’t appreciate that kind of treatment to their phones. Sooooo yeah, gimme an N96 with a qwerty and I’m happy.

You don’t. Nokia doesn’t really dig CDMA. Last I checked, VZW only had 2 Nokia handsets, neither of which are smartphones. Nokia isn’t exactly enamored of the NA market for some reason, and definitely the very UN-european CDMA network that VZW and Sprint use. If you want an E-71, you are going to have to jump ship to AT&T or T-Mobile. Of course, as of right now, you will have to get an unlocked handset, which will set you back $442, according to http://www.nokiausa.com. And is it really worth it?

Does this mean they’ll finally release the newest NAM firmware for all to consume? It still says I can’t update to the firmware that came out at the end of November.
