Want a TELUS Storm before Christmas? Order it by 17 December
While it goes without saying that the BlackBerry Storm is going to be one of the hottest handsets this holiday season in Canada, Telus wants everyone to know that if they’re planning on either giving or receiving a Telus Storm on Christmas Day that it must be ordered no later than December 17th. A launch date hasn’t been officially announced, but there is a lot of buzz on the interwebs pointing to a release this Friday (the 12th) or Monday (the 15th).
Update: It looks like Telus is soft-launching the Storm because we’re hearing that the full-scale launch has been delayed until January due to RIM’s failure to deliver adequate levels of stock (estimates say Telus has 2,500 units for all of Canada). As a result, those stores with stock will be able to sell the device to new clients only so that Telus will be able to brag about a Stormy Christmas. But since a hell of a lot of people are going to be left out on this one Telus is offering the following promotions:
- $0 LG Dare, $0 Blackberry Pearl, $49 Blackberry Curve
- Promotional pricing is now available on voice plans of $25 or more
- Sweet Deal 25 ($17.50) now eligible for promotional pricing of data devices
Thanks, Dani!

Looks like it may have been released…you are able to get to the purchase page now from the original promo splash!
Also received word from a retailer indicating that STORMs will be available in the stores on Monday December 15.
The bell website has finally listed a price for the storm ($249.95) and “comming soon”. Most encouraging for us holding-out for bell release.
Telus has launched – avail. for purchase on website. Bell rep told me yesterday that launch for Bell is Dec. 15.
Got an email from Telus at 11:49am. They are saying that the Storm is now available. “Limited quantities are available at select TELUS stores”.
Great… looks like it’s already sold out…
Ordered product outright after purchase page popped up and site took payment right away. Then I called to confirm that shipment was in 3-5 days as indicated in confirmation email. Telus rep said yes, so will see if it’s delivered in next few days. Originally ordered from Best Buy and they too processed my order today but I cancelled as they were still charging me $649 even though they dropped to $599 as well and no shipping charge with Telus.
Yup Vince T… from site order page
“Currently on backorder, please allow 1-2 weeks for delivery.
no contract price $599.99
1 yr contract $549.99
2 yr contract $449.99
3 yr contract ‡ $249.99
temporarily out of stock”
And the storm’s start hitting eBay already, I hate these pathetically small launches, all they do is feed the secondary market.
bell launches too

My friend, whose an existing sub got his today.
Just a little additional comment in reagrds to the storm. I along with a lot of other people today received emails from telus stating that the storm was in store, but alas after having talked to the manager of my Cell City store in Vancouver, he informed me that as of last night, after a meeting with Telus mucky mucks and teh folks from Rim, they and all other stores will be only getting TWO storms per store for initial delivery and then after Xmas the rest should start rolling in at a proper pace. Damn
Mike
this is extremely frustrating. i have had my radar locked on the storm since i first heard about it in late september. i have been on the phone countless times with telus’ loyalty, my local dealer (tridon), and the *611 telus representatives and every one of the people i have talked to gives me different information and answers. i have offered to pay in advance to ensure i recieve mine before the holidays. i wish i had it already. i am getting sick of waiting. i had my local store MAKE the waiting list for the storm and i was the first one on it but apparently it is impossible to get storms to fort mcmurray. i have heard and read that ontario and vancouver have had some and then sold them all out. i sure hope that fort mcmurrays shipment of storms are just in transit and i dont have to wait till after christmas. maybe if they werent actually planning on releasing it fully till after christmas they shouldnt have made sucha big deal of it. as far as im concerned everything that is said about the storm is just a bunch of BLAH BLAH BLAH until i actually have mine in my hand.
