Sony Ericsson C905 with AT&T 3G support gets FCC nod

Well hello there! As we’ve come to expect from the folks over at the FCC, another handset has been leaked and this time around its a pretty interesting one. The sexy C905 from Sony Ericsson has made its way through the FCC, again, and this time it has a little something extra on board. That’s right people, the often elusive 850 / 1900 WCDMA bands we all wish for are present and accounted for. In other words, you can be pretty certain this 8 megapixel beast will be making its way to Big Blue sometime in the near future. Let’s recap the specs:

  • 8.1 megapixel CMOS (3264×2448, 7.99 effective megapixels) with autofocus
  • Xenon flash, 3-LED videolight, focus assist lamp, self portrait mirror
  • Image stabilizer and face detection autofocus (up to 3 faces)
  • Auto Rotate
  • BestPic
  • 16x digital zoom
  • Video recording: QVGA (320×240) @ 30fps
  • Dedicated camera still/record/review key
  • Dual Function D-Pad
  • Mechanical lens cover
  • PhotoAlbum

We all know Sony Ericsson can do cameras and the C905 is its most solid camera phone offering to date. In other words, the ZN5’s reign as the dumbphone camera king among US carriers will indeed be a short-lived one. No pricing or timing is available yet but rest assured, we’ll keep you posted.

As much as I hate and despise the DeathStar, they sure do get all of the bad ass phones.

And this is why at least one Sony Ericsson phone will always be in my fleet.

I doubt at&t will pick this up. SE will have to sell it unlocked and unsubsidized.

If the video recording didn’t suck and the OS wasn’t closed, I’d get one.

You doubt AT&T will pick this phone up? Shows what you know – the phone is coming and it will be in silver. For any employees that want to go ahead and verify this, you can search for C905 in Opus. Model shows up as C905A SLV.

Opus doesn’t show release dates – it’s a point of sale application.

Naive people. I worked for some major player in the unlocked phone world here in NYC (I wont mention their name because they are a horrible company, re-sell used phones as new and have a fresh roll of Nokia stickers to reseal boxes) but the original version of this phone sold like candy.

The C902a and C902i both were HUGE sellers. They both lacked this camera (they had 5MP) and they lacked US 3G, they only had 2100 if I recall and we would not be able to keep them on the shelves.

This phone will sell amazingly. Oh but that’s right, all the naysayers know everything because they were a SE Rep like I was. Im sorry, keep talking like you know what you are talking about.

The Nokia E71x does in fact exist. Our Nokia rep had it. It looks nice in all black. There are 9 other Nokias being released over the course of the year, two of which include full QWERTY keyboard. She wouldn’t tell me anymore.
