Microsoft prepares to launch its own clothing line; no, seriously

We’re not exactly sure if this is one of the worst marketing ploys ever, or one of the best. All we know for sure however, is that you can bet the bank that you will definitely find an MS DOS shirt added to our wardrobe once this new line kicks off. You hear that Microsoft? Hook it up! Microsoft is reportedly turning to seasoned ad vet Crispin, Porter & Bogusky to help it launch a line of graphic tees brilliantly dubbed “Softwear by Microsoft”. Cute. Crispin isn’t the only help Microsoft enlisted for Softwear however – and no, it wasn’t Jerry again – several of the shirt designs were handled by long-time respected artist, short-time Serena Williams-dater Common. Microsoft says of the campaign: “[Softwear is] a clothing line that taps the nostalgia of when PCs were just starting to change our lives.” This latest addition to the “I’m a PC” campaign will find its way to select stores (Urban Outfitters we’re guessing?) on December 15. Hit the jump for one more shirt design.

The only thought more repulsive than nerdy neckbeards with thick framed glasses strutting around in Apple / Linux clothing is the thought of nerdy neckbeards with thick framed glasses strutting around in Microsoft clothing.

no, Microsoft didn’t steal DOS, he did develop PC-DOS for IBM for the year he was there but MS-DOS is a complete rewrite with his own freedom applied to it.

Ok that is just hot. Can I be first in line for the QBasic t-shirt? Or maybe the DosShell Tee? Seriously, for all Microsoft’s faults you can’t deny the good memories had by all in the 80s and early 90s. If the first thing you learned in dos was cd /games and go.bat you know what I mean. :)

You’d think MS would invest time and money into fixing up windows than creating a clothing line. Again, Microsoft’s logic never ceases to amaze me.

@ Gorf that was pretty funny
@ Daniel you sound like Justin Long…Whoever told you Windows needs fixing? It works just fine for me and billions of other people. I guess you millions of mac users are too buy worshipping Steve Jobs to realize anything else.

It is cool only if microsoft is not the one launching this product.
    And I don’t think it’s a good marketing campaign.
