Metal Gear Solid coming to the Xbox 360 soon?

Konami sure knows how to cause a stir. An update to the official Konami’s Kojima Productions website seems to suggest that Metal Gear Solid may finally make its way to the Xbox 360. We will admit that this might be a bit of stretch but the black and green coloring of the symbol-filled website is reminiscent of the colors used to advertise the Xbox 360. The Universal symbol for Power, which is prominently displayed on the front of the Xbox 360, is now front and center on Konami’s website. Rumors that the Playstation exclusive title will jump ship to the Xbox platform have been floating around for a while now, so such an announcement is not completely unexpected. Wild speculation continues to run rampant though, with Kotaku interpreting the “i” to mean iPhone, DSi, or Wii. The upside down “i” is used in PSP-based Metal Gear Acid so the new announcement may be related to that game and not the console version, Metal Gear Solid. Kotaku also points out that the URL contains the phrase “mgst” which could mean Metal Gear Solid Touch? Konami has been silent on the matter saying that it does not comment on speculation and apologized for providing only the “standard line” as a response. All we can deduce with some degree of certainty is that Konami has something new on the horizon for the Metal Gear franchise and it wants everyone to start talking about it. We will happily oblige them. Any gamers out there? Feel free to chat this up in the comments – additional rampant speculation is not only welcome, it is expected.

I mean come on, why are the fanboys crying. Exclusives serve no purpose, and very few exclusives make people buy a console. The only exclusive that would make me buy a PS3 is Kingdom Hearts. And once that gets released next yr I’ll be buying it. The end to exclusives is better for everyone.

you really think they are going to take a step back to the 360 after a Blu ray wasn’t big enough for the graphics they wanted? You 360 fools, don’t pin your hopes on it. Besides you gotta get rid of that RROD first.

    Portable platform is more likely.

I love how insecure the PlayStation fagboys are! They have seen their precious Sony go from being the best all time (both in console sales and game titles) to last! it is the greatest thing I have ever seen! I can almost see the tears in their post! This is awesome

i like how everyone knocks PS3, yet it has so much potential. Where else are you going to get a blue-ray player and game console combination? Remember what consonle from the mid 90’s actually prospered from all the others and eventually evolved into what’s now the ps3? MGS had originally been a nintendo game and eventually went up to the ps1. There should be some exclusitivity (i.e halo, gears, etc). I guess its a good move for Konami, but there will be a lot of pissed off fans out there. Would you xbox fanboys like to see halo on ps3?

ohh yea and another thing, i can’t remember the last time my ps3 actually froze, thus creating a solid red ring around the power option, and pretty much #&@# up my console..hmmm

not trying to knock xbox, just shut little fanboys up..i can respect the xbox and what it’s worth, but the ps3 serves my needs and then some.. smile :)

personlly i would not care if halo or gears went to the ps3, cause in the end i payed my 60 bucks for the game and im still playing it on the console that i choose to buy, im not gonna whine and cry just but the kid next door who has a different system gets to play the same game i can play, in the end im still playing it, fanboys are nothing but a joke, bunch of little fucking nerdy babys that need to get a life, maybe even go outside and meet some new people

Im a fan of the series and I dont really mind if it goes to 360. Thats cool if more people get to play it, but the game will be around 5-6 discs uncompressed or 2 heavily compressed. I have a PS3 myself and am aware of the lack of game titles, but I still prefer it over the 360. I work at a game store and cant go a day without hearing someone say they had a red ring, scratched discs, or freezing. Our delivery man has around 4 replacement boxs for 360 owners to ship out daily. There are games out there that I would like to play on a 360 but for the fact that 68 out 100 systems that come off the line break isnt worth it to me. I dont know anyone that has had their original system. You have to pay $50 a year for online and if you want wireless its $69-100. The controllers have to take batteries or you have to spend $20 for a charge kit. Also HD lost to the Blu Ray. So for those facts I prefer the PS3.

im not system bashing here, but no matter were the game goes people are gonna buy it, it doesnt matter if the game comes in a 10 disc pack people are still gonna pick it up for 60 bucks and enjoy it, as for the wireless yes the 100 dollars is a little too much but you can substitute and a get a linksys wireless g gaming router for like 20 bucks and it works. you dont have to buy the Microsoft one, the online fee does not bother 50 bucks a year is nothing, as far as batteries go just pay 10 bucks and get rechargeable batteries and there problem solved

I’m just curious as to why no one has taken the time to point out one obvious fact… The game isn’t even that good. Yahtzee at Zero Punctuation did a great job of summing up what is nothing more than an overhyped digital soap opera.

Err, Im a big advocate for the 360, but Metal Gear was the shit. It made me purchase it from my Game fly account instead of sending it back it was so good. Tons of Replay value. That being said , its still the only PS3 game i own lmao aside from downloading SF2 hd remix.

    Andrewvio says:

What we all need to realize is the fact that exclusivity is bad. In a perfect world, there wouldn’t be any exclusive console games, and everyone would be able to run everything. The only thing that I can think of that did this right was DVD’s, and movies in general. VCR’s and DVD players come in all shapes, sizes and brands, but they all do the same damn thing: they play movies for you. Wouldn’t it suck if you popped a DVD into your toshiba DVD player, and all of a sudden it says “Oh, we’re sorry, you need to get a samsung DVD player.” I have a friend who has MGS4 and a PS3 as well as a 360. MGS4 was awesome, and I would love for it to be ported to the 360. I spent all of my money on a 360 and can’t afford a PS3 at the moment. We need universal games for universal game systems. We just need for everyone to do this crap all over again, and make it similar to PC games.

Also, as a quick side note, though you may have assumed this from what I said, someone asked what anyone would think if halo was ported to the PS3. I, for one, don’t care. Halo 3 sucked, and was a grand dissapointment. Exclusivity, as I will say again, is, and should always be – in the future at least – a thing of the past.

    Lymphaticness says:

Okay folks. Here’s how it couldn’t be a 360 game. The power button thing simply has an exclamation point applied to it, and we have all seen that it is simply similar to the power symbol, both in color and in shape, on a 360’s power button. However, people are clamoring to identify the i and the ! part, which if you think about it, would break the uniformity of the equation if they happened to represent something similar, as opposed to direct things i.e. the i in iPhone and the ! in Ac!d. The power symbol thing might mean several things. Though I am pretty sure that the i and ! have something to do with what I mentioned. The circle might represent movement, or something like that, of the i, or it might mean something completely different, as in iPhone + Ac!d =… and then they have a new title, and the symbol is simply a clever way of drawing an O, while the game itself is similar to (or maybe a sequel/spinoff) Ac!d in elements such as gameplay, and other crap. The turning thing, which may be suggested, might mean they’re just makinng a revamped version of Ac!d all together, simply for the iPhone, or iPod touch.

Or, on a side note, Konami might just be fuckin with you all, which I find easier to believe. The symbols might just all look “similar” to other symbols because it might be meant to throw you off.

A further note, for anyone who was wondering:
If anybody already wrote this, I’m sorry if I re-wrote your idea, I didn’t read through all of the posts.
