Verizon rumored to be prepping Storm OS update for today

In case you’re one of the squares who hasn’t yet grabbed a leaked copy of OS 4.7.0.75 for the Verizon Storm, you’re going to love this. Rumor has it that Verizon is getting its servers all set to officially unleash an OS update to fix the problems that have become the bane of some users existence (before you flame, no, we’re not hating on the Storm). Rumor has it that the OTA updates will be available in the afternoon followed by computer-based upgrade downloads in the evening. We’ll be sure to update this post if and when the update is ready, but we can tell you that if you prefer to upgrade your OS via Desktop Manager then the update will be available here. Note that OTA upgrades will only work for BIS users as this feature is not supported on BES.

UPDATE: It looks as if the update is now available via OTA and Desktop Manger. Enjoy!

AFTER 2 REBOOTS WITH THE NEW UPGRADE TO MY STORM, IT’S NOW WORKING PERFECTLY :) IF THE .76 UPGRADE IS GOING TO BE BETTER I’LL BE REALLY EXCITED.

THE CAMERA, HOWEVER, IS STILL SLOW AND PICS ARE DARK, MY G/F’S PEARL TOOK BETTER AND BRIGHTER PICS WITH DEFAULT SETTINGS. ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS TO GET BETTER PICS OUT OF THE STORM?

    @ Mattnshilp:

I had ATT and tried both the original iPhone and iPhone 3G. And they both were awful. Whether they sucked because they were “Apple on ATT” remains to be seen. But from errors to battery life to lagging to you name it, I practically flung both across the counter for refunds. Funny thing is the 3G model seemed even worse.

In the meantime, rotsa ruck on crappy external sound, a subpar cam, not spending a fortune for apps, batteries, DRM music pains in the arse, tech support and semi-interesting ringers (ESPECIALLY ringers) and for a final iPhone that can overall really be bragged about. I bet RIM and Verizon beat them to the firmware-flash-punch with the Storm for a better device at the finish line. It’s been less than a month since the Storm release and they’re already taking care of bugs faster than Apple EVER did with the iPhone.

As for wasting server space, soapbox speeches like yours do the same thing, so :-P because it’s inevitable that iPhone and Storm users will argue over where they chose to spend their $$$.

I’ve just started hearing a rumor of a Storm 9530 (Verizon) .80 update. Anyone else hearing this as well?
