We have owner the 700 for about 3 months now. We have probably only printed about 30 pages with it. Most pages have been black text with about 5 being color partial sheets. In so doing, we used-up the ink cartridge set that came with the printer AND 2 FULL SETS OF THE HIGH CAPACITY CARTRIDGES ($160. worth)!!!!
Some thing is terribly wrong here.

Comments anyone?

Hello everybody,

I was wondering can you scan negatives on Artisan 700? If yes then how? Because it did not work for me?

I would definitely give customer care a call Betty. Mine is connected to a WPA-protected wireless network and everything works fine so it's likely a set up issue.

I installed the 700 for my sister on a wireless network. Worked perfectly until I secured the wireless network and now I can't get it to work. I connected it back via a USB cable and now the scan part of the printer does not work. Any ideas?

christopher - Yes, you can scan indeed scan over WiFi - files can be delivered to a connected computer as an email attachment or simply placed in a destination folder, and you can also scan to a local memory card. The printer will also convert a scan to a PDF if you so desire.

Linda - Regarding Avery labels, I haven't tried it personally but a quick search suggests that the 700 cannot feed them unfortunately.

Update: Found the other dongle. It's so cheap that it doesn't even have a manufacturer name on it - just "BTM-USBA-1" printed on the chip - and it didn't work. I was able to pair with no problem but it wouldn't receive files from my Bold or my N95 8GB.

I have a feeling that many half-way decent dongles will work while cheapo no-names like my "BTM-USBA-1" probably won't.

Excellent point Eric, the hi-cap inks are a must as the cartridges are quite small.

christexaport, I spoke to Epson pre-sales service on the phone and they said the only compatible dongle is the Epson model. Just to try to confirm that, I found a veeeeeery old dongle in a box in my closet (Windigo BTD-2403), popped it in and it worked 100% with no hiccups or glitches whatsoever.

I have another dongle somewhere that came with a copy of Bluesoleil I bought about 7 years ago and as soon as I find it I'll give it a shot as well.

I bought a artisan 800 a few weeks ago with a $70 instant rebate from epson and free shipping. Great printer, I love epson printers and this was a good replacement for my RX580.

I recommend getting the hi capacity inks though, I already have gone through 2 sets of inks.

Thanks christexaport, and that's a great question I don't know the answer to. I'll come back with an answer as soon as I get it from Epson.

As much as I dog on BGR sometimes, you boys have been bringing the goods! Good post!

Question:
Is the bluetooth accessory something proprietary, or a typical USB bluetooth dongle? I kind of like having the accessory instead of two models with or without bluetooth. Less fragmentation. Plus, if the dongle can be used as a standalone unit, it has extra versatility. I don't have a bluetooth dongle right now, and getting this with the accessory solves two issues. If its not generic, then its stupid.

Keep it up, BGR. Feels good to read about something without hearing about a touchscreen with walled gardening skills. Tech reviews at its best.

That being said, can the iPhone or G1 print via USB? I know most Nokia's do PictBridge.
