Bell has yet to decide on 3-year price of the Storm but sets non-contract price of $699.95
Today the $249.99 Christmas promotional pricing of the Telus Storm was sent into every major tech blog on the net from the same source — that’s why we didn’t bother to post it, in case you’re wondering– which left a lot of people wondering what Bell was up to in terms of pricing. Well, our favorite Bell ninja wrote in and told us the scoop. It turns out that Bell isn’t going to compete with Telus on the non-contract price as their Storm will sell for $50 more at $699.95. In terms of 3-year pricing, that’s where this whole thing gets a little weird. You see, Bell desperately wants to be competitive with Telus to the point where there is a bit of in-fighting about what the final price will be. It’s led Bell to order Point of Purchase cards (P.O.P.) printed up for $199.99, $249.99, and $299.99. We’d love to see Bell opt for $199 and really stick it to Telus, but that’d be an awful lot to ask of a company that is struggling to find new ownership. But then again, Bell has recently been quite agressive in targeting Telus even selling the HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro for $99.95 and $239.95 while Telus the new Rogers asks for $249.99 and $299.99 respectively. Yeah, we just went there.

Love your site…. Curious why the sudden hate for Telus. I have been with them as a customer for a few years and I find them to be the anti-Rogers/Bell…Am I missing something?
Bell is the Canadian Sprint.
Ya, i WENT there too !

+1
Telus has not been competitive as of late with their pricing on smartphones. Telus used to be the first to get every smartphone (often beating the US too) and sell them at a great price. Now they have a loyal customer base and they decide to screw them over. Last year at this time they released the UNLIMITED data for $15 bucks plan. It was amazing. Now they decide to raise the price of data and not give decent discounts on phones. They have been going downhill.
Common telus, i know you have it in you.
Bell on the ohterhand is just playing catch-up with telus and trying desperately to beat them in every way. Here’s a hint Bell, LOWER THE SAF.
Ok then d.dan, I have been with Telus for almost 5 years, I am a heavy BB user…whom would you switch to? I am not being a shit disturber, I left rogers due to lousy support and never cosidered Bell due to lousy network coverage.. It didn’t leave much choice…
@torontosportsmedia.com
lousy coverage compared to telus right? LOL okie dokie you lost all credibility. I guess the telus/bell roaming agreement doesnt actually work
” I guess the telus/bell roaming agreement doesnt actually work

No it doesn’t actually work unfortuantely.
With bell I get one bar of reception at my place of residence (a 15 minute drive from downtown core of Ottawa), when a couple of hundred metres in any direction, signal strength is much better (4-5 bars).
Telus lent me a Curve for a day and I got 5 bar reception in my basement.
I’ve contemplated waiting for the Storm to come out thru Bell and see if my coverage issues would improve somehow (I don’t believe it would) – but their customer service is so horrid and frustrating I don’t think I’d be able to deal with them.
Telus is looking less and less apealing.
I’ve got all my other services with Rogers, including another wireless device and have been quite happy with their customer service, so will most likely just port over to them..
I don’t think the $249 for the storm is bad it’s better than I expected. Considering that Verizon with over 65million customers is selling it for $199US(around $240 canadian) and Telus with 4.5million customers is $249(around $205 US), so I fail to see why you think Bell “should stick it to Telus” with the $199 price. With the exchange rate that would be lower than what Verizon cutomers are paying.
@ dirtychoncho: Verizon prices are for two year contracts while Bell/Telus/Rogers are all for three years. 8330 is still C$400 for a two year contract at Bell, while it is US$99 at Verizon for the same phone on a two year contract. Phones are way too expensive in Canada.
Let’s face it the 3 Canadian Carriers suck, I switched from Telus to bell a year and a half ago because of plan pricing.
Now with Bell the customer service is the worst of any product I own.
And I have heard that Rogers is no better especially considering they’re device prices…..I just sucks to not have any real competition.
Funny in a country where it is illegal to have a monopoly (see sirius/xm radio) we have three large wireless carriers and they don’t compete with each other!
I don’t care what the price is just give me a date and my new storm asap!

Hey genius if you anything about Canadian markets and businesses you would know about this little government institution called the competitions bureau and to a lesser extent CRTC.
The companies aren’t allowed to compete with each other because of the strict regulations imposed by these crown controlled regulators. if any one company was to severely undercut the other on a national level they would be slapped with fines for violations against fairness legislation.
