Hey guys, i read this and i called rogers and they seem to not have this phone or know its available.. :S um thats odd but they said there isnt a new blackberry until it is advertised or shown up o nthe website! unless its just a lie! lol

Anyone know where I can get the 8900 Rogers model unbranded? Or do they brand the software? Also I’m going to dislike the rogers logo on the bottom, hopefully they don’t have room to put it there and stick it on the back.

I agree with…hell someone up there on the post. I’m with ATT and I’m not rich by any means, (got bills to pay) but the 2 year contract shit sucks. I love my blackberry, and will prolly never own another “brand” but the price they want for a new or not so new BB is B.S. I got screwed out of an upgrade and I’ve went through numerous pearls, and I’m on my 7th curve since the original 2yr date. I’m tired of this phone and went to talk with a sales rep and she wouldn’t do the “upgrade reversal” which the ATT Customer Service Rep put in the comments about everything that had happened and that they got it okayed to do the reversal. Making it okay to UPGRADE. So I went to go get the Bold for something newer and the price was $75 to cancel the contract and get an upgrade…well the 2yr plan’s “299.XX” with no extras. Then the roughly $80+ per month bill which equals roughly $1,920 for the 2yrs. With the phone its at least $2219 spent on a phone and 2 years of service?!? WTF? That’s a nice bit of cash for a damn phone. That doesn’t include the insurance plan either. And if you do have to use the insurance its another $70ish I believe. (Not 100% positive how much it cost plus the bill…they tack it on the bill.) But for most phones, its a scaled down,watered down laptop that you can talk on…and have dropped calls/call fails. Damn throught this rant, I realized we’re all getting the shaft when it comes to phones and the prices. Yes the phone for its size can do some pretty cool shit, but for over 2 g’s it better do something F’n awesome. Especially if you’re stuck with it for two years. We all know how fast technology changes and to be stuck with an out dated phone for that long and to pay that much. BB’s are awesome, but the whole locked into the phone unless you give up more cash ($175 to cancel everything). We’re getting raped by them. The phone’s don’t cost anywhere near what they’re asking for them. Its BS.

I went to a rogers store in Montreal and the sales rep told me that T-Mobile already launch the phone??? I didn’t say anything tho loll

But just to tell you that there is alot of confusion wow!! I can’t wait those confusion become reality and to find the right answer!!

According to a little birdie… don’t expect this on Ma Bell for at least 3 months

and no 3G? what’s up with that? I’d rather have 3G than wi-fi any day. but guess that’s always been RIMs strategy, leave ‘em wanting more, then they can sell them the next model (8910?)

Up here in Canada, 3 year contracts aren’t as bad when you consider that we have 1 national GSM carrier so switching to another carrier usually means getting a new phone as well.

I think there’s a lot of confusion over three year terms. Yes they suck as you’re stuck with a company that might not work out for you, but you’re not OBLIGATED to have the same hardware for three years. So who cares if a BB lasts three years (the answer is usually yes, however).

On Rogers, you can upgrade your device EVERY YEAR with a subsidized cost. Do Americans actually have to have that phone for two whole years if they sign a two year contract? If so, I would die under this system, as I require an upgrade every year.

I tried getting this phone through rogers and they said I can buy it through new activation or hardware upgrade which I am not eligible for. I don’t understand why phone companies make it so hard to just outright buy a phone of their choice when they are willing to pay full price.
