Sprint’s BlackBerry 8350i in the woods
For those of you clinging to your iDEN network with dear life, you probably never thought this day would come. Well, it has, and we’ve got some live pictures of Sprint’s BlackBerry 8350i. One of our ninjas took some time out to photograph one for us and gave us a quick rundown. Here we go:
- The 8350i has a 2.5mm headset jack, not a 3.5mm one, and it comes with a 2.5mm headset in the box.
- Ships with the much beloved plastic holster, not the leather holster we’re accustomed to.
- There’s a small size difference. It’s around 2mm taller and 1mm thicker than the other Curves (8300, 8310, 8320, 8330).
- The PTT button can not be reassigned as a convenience key.
- Instead of using the same battery as the Curve, the 8350i uses the BlackBerry 8800-series batteries.
- The side keys are now black instead of being chromed
- We were told the device isn’t a real beast in terms of the signal department. “It can’t get a stable signal to save its life once it boots up”

judt got off the line with Sprint Empoyee sales, 15th is set, on time, good to go. I would suggest not going telesales, your best bet will to be first in line at your biggest sprint store.
As for the features, It is the best curve out, once it gets ot, comes with everything, camera, all of it, They do make one without a cam, for Government employees for obvious reasons.
But the best news here is that the 15th is set to go. And no, you cannot order it yet, no not even a preorder list, But the 15th they go live.
Like I said above as well, Even if you get one off ebay, they wont activate it, 15h is on baby

Unless something changed from this morning, last info that I saw was that 15th yes is a go, however, it will only be available via telesales until the 1st of the year. I will check to see what I can find tomorrow and let you all know if I can confirm it.
There are plenty of places doing pre-orders. Just google “8350i Pre-Order” and you will see a list. Sprint will never do a “pre-order”. They will just send you an email 2 days after it’s already been available, saying it’s available.
As far as ebay, if by chance one of these show up on ebay, you can get it activated. Just swap sim cards with a 7100i (cross-compatible), change your PIN/IMEI in your BIS account and you’re good to go without anyone even knowing(one of the reason sim cards are nice).

Granted, yes your good to go if you bought one off ebay, just swap the sim, I have a regular phone, so I cant swap the sim, ateleast i dont think I can. But yeah, the 15th is set, should be everywhere, telesales and all.
The thing about the preorders is that you are just ordering it through another company that will just get it, you will get it no sooner then anyone else, just my opinion, Be at the sprint store the morning of the 15th and that should be your best bet, otherwise, if you preorder somewhere, I could see that the company you ardered it through will get it, then send it, so just my opinion, Best bet will be to be at the sprint store fiorst thing in the morning on the 15th.
I got to mess with one when RIM came to the campus and showed it off, It is very nice, I just do wish it had a touch screen, I think there newest blackberry has that, so well probably get this one from RIM on the Nextel network, and wont get a newer blackberry with the touch screen for a few years, HOWEVER, The thing is super sweet.
Once you’ve been direct connected, you’ll never go back…. I got hell of friends all over the country that I just ping up instead of calling, It’s so sweet, The reason that any other carriers will never have the walkie talkie feature work, is because anyone who know anyone with the feature is already on the nextel, and those folks are loyal to it, because they have become accustom to it. So once people get on it, they automatically have 14 million other people that they can walkie talkie with. If you join Verizons oinger network, Theres about a hundred and fourty other people out there you can talk to, So it cant be beat, Nextel has that, and will not let it go, I just wish the sprint folks here at work would realize what they got and focus on that in advertising, We could see a huge boost in revenue and growth if we just slanged that all day.

I put a bid on it, waiting to hear back, The problem is, I called sprint and they said they wont activate it until its released, HOWEVER, if you have the 7100i, you might be able to swap the sime and have it work, But I do not have an old one.

as long as you have a sim card have them activate that sim card that comes with the blackberry to another regular iden and or BB and put it in the new BB.
the pics on that ebay phone are from 2005… did anyone see that?
My rep called and left a message this afternoon and said it might be the 12th or the 15th, that she was hearing both. By the time I called her back 1/2 hour later it had changed to 1/11!!! She is as frustrated with the bouncing date as we are!!!!!
I wish that nextel was sold 2 Verizon and neves 2 sprint they messed up a great company. There are no words 2 descrive what they did 2 Nextel. Just found out that they increased the prices 4 Nextel by 10 bucks they really want no more new customers at all man great thinking Srint make it expensive 4 people 2 join Nextel. Then the store rep says but just get a line with Srint and u save 10 bucks WTF! Guess my mother will be going with AT&T and thats how you loose new customers. . ….anymore STUPID IDEAS NEXTEL 4 A BAD ECONOMY PERIOD.
It is very sad if what you are saying is true, I only work in the pits at sprint, one time Nextel, we were always a great company, very proud of what we did an who we were. I never thought that Sprint would do things like this…. not that they are…:0, ssshhhhhh…. I would never say anything bad about my company,
so, yeah, Like I said, I work for sprint/NEXTEL, and am legacy Nextel, and I never would have imagined that sprint would pay 34 billion for a company and a network, to simply demolish it. I just wish that someone upsatirs would realize that the iDEN network is very sexy to many people, and if they would just step up and treat it like there blood related brother….cdma, then they could do huge great things with it. The bottom line is that there are a certain percentage of people out there, within us Americans, that luv that phone/Network, Granted, It’s not 3G, But it does all we need as humans. Honestly, Me, as a worker for sprint, on all legacy Nextel Platforms, “AM SICK OF BEING THE RED HEADED STEP KID….. So I dunno what to tell you all, I just hope that all stays well, and that what they say is true, that they …. I mean we, are keeping the NEXTEL network and expanding it. I will test what you said tomorrw, I will go into the sprint store and pretend that I am not a worker, and try to buy a new plan and see just how different the prices and plans are. I’ll post again tomorrow and let you all know specifics on that. But honestly, Nextel is the best…. and I cant wait for this phone, so I actually believe that the 8350i will not come out until the new year, based on that last post I saw, I BELIEVE IT, Not for any other reason then the fact that it aint ready. I know they wouldnt hold it back for anything other then it aint right yet, and something don’t work. So Ill give em that, But they sure have pushed all the subject matter experts out….. all i know is that they better come out w/ this phone by the time my contract is up (soon after the ball drops for 2009) or i’m done, giving up the DC – which will be hard to do but it will get the point across… again, any other cell carrier’s interested in IDEN because SPRINT just doesn’t get it!! (wonder if any uppidity ups look at these blogs… hmm… Mr. Hesse you have many upset people here…)
notthat many people are watching this, But the newest and latest info is that the 15th is a total “GO” That is all I can say on that, they already have a few heads around campus using them. COOLEST thing ever happened now, Like I have hinted before, I AM LEGACY NEXTEL, been with the company since 2000, so that being said, I am an engineer for all of the voice part of the network, I do translations in the Nortel DMS-100. I am reprogramming all of them across the country, so I asked the lead for the new device if I could obtain one for testing. WOOOOO HOOOOOO, Im picking it up at 3, when I pick it up I’ll ask again, But it looks like the 15th is a for sure go, not much longer folks…
Bad part is I have to put a report together on all my testing, BUT TOTALLY WORTH IT, Ill send out some pics, maybe a you tube later…
My Sprint/Nextel rep just called and is ordering my phone today. It is now in their system and they can order it, but inventory is showing zero stock. She says that every indication that she has is that they will ship on Monday. She wanted to know if I wanted free 3-5 day shipping or pay $12 for overnight. Of course I went w/ the overnight! So if all goes well I should be picking up this BB on Tuesday!!
NICE, I got one from the folks inside testing them, I am waiting on FEDEX right now, i will post a utube when I get it. But from what I read on some email chains, they are still having some issues on firmware upgrading, and one of the ladies said that the 15th, will be “SOME” Best Buy locations, and Hige accounts, forgot what they called those huge accounts. But my FEDEX tracking number says it’ll be here shortly!
OH, This too, I just got an email to me from corporate that said if I have any friends that are gonna buy a phone, that they can get 25 more bucks off of a new phone that is over 25 bucks at any sprint owned store.
