I had the white g 1 and I had to return it because it couldn’t stop shutting down. I miss it! I have the Black 1 temporarily but I like how the keyboard lights up better then the white 1….

i have the white G1 and seeing the keys in the dark is no issues becuz the gray background turns white where the leters are. but in the light like as in sunlight whn u are outside or in a well lite area it is hard to see the keys becuz the gray and white blends. it can be quite frustrating if u dont know ur keys. i came from a sidelick lx so i am pretty familiar with a qwerty key pad. but if ur not this should be somthing u think about b4 u make the purchase of the white g1.

I had a black g1 but because i heard squeeky sounds i returned it to get a white one and what a difference.. I’m glad i made the change!! and because i ordered my phone through phone i only had 14 days to return it not 30 days.(in my case that is)

Sergio – yes, you can exchange the black G1 for the white G1 within 30 days of purchase. I live in San Francisco, and I just exchanged my black one 24 days after purchase(and a good thing I did)! I’m much happier with it. If you slide your black G1 screen open and gently shake it, you’ll notice that it’s loose and makes a worrisome sound. The white one doesn’t do this and for some reason, seems to be built better than the black and brown one. In addition to this, it is noticeably lighter than the other colors! Go and get it!

You can get the white G1 now, just call the retail TMO stores and ask before you go. But beware of the wack lighting on the keyboard!! I can’t wait for someone to develop an iPhone style virtual keyboard.

you cannot exchange the black for white one, unless it’s within 14 days of purchase. I like the white but i dislike the gray keyboard and backing.

i got the white g1 today in brooklyn on 4th ave. tmobile store in bklyn. i called the store where i got my black 1, the said they wouldn’t sell me the phone until the 24th, which is dumb. white is so much better to look at plus no one really has it yet. i always get the newest gadgets. tmobile has no good phones except the sidekick lx and g1. onl complaints is where is the flash app. and market needs better apps.

just got a white G1 here in NYC. I CAN’T SEE THE KEYBOARD KEYS IN THE DARK!! major design flaw, my sister has the black one, no issues, but mine WAYYY too dim in low light. Anyone else notice this issue?

Color is no longer an issue with the G1.

If you have a black/brown one and insist on white, have no fear…

I got a black G1 on Oct 23 and I don’t regret it. The Bronze and White keyboard are I just couldn’t deal with the RED secondary symbols. Hard to see in the light. Now if I can find a white UK version keyboard with the glossy keys to swap on my black G1… Imagine… Contrast is a good thing.

Also I called T-Mo CS last night and convinced them to send me a new battery. Had to listen to the initial rep read from a script first then I asked to speak to a supervisor and she caved.

Dude if you think web browsing on the g1 is weaker than the g1s, you are a moron. The g1 is in the same boat with the iphone right now with people getting it just to look cool and have it. Sure its more open platform but the hardware for it is equal to the sidekick its a kiddie platform right now until some major players start to push it further

snap.. i preordered the black one soon as the official announcement ended and got it a few days early, i love the white but like someone else said, i wish it was all white but still it makes me wanna buy one ay full retail and sell my black one.

i love my g1 and i did a comparision with the blackberry storm at the mall and my g1 beats the storm in my opinion… i mean scrolling on the storm is retarded, if your at a really long page you cant flick to the bottom fast, u have to manually move it all the way down, with my g1 one quick flick and its at the botom of the page and my g1 has never not rendered a page fully, if you scroll down on the iphone for a few seconds you get blank boxes and same for the storm… the browser on the storm is like nothing compared to the iphone or the G1 and my g1 renders pages better for reading than both of those devices as i dont have to pan over to read a long article but rather the g1 formats the text to be read all with out moiving the screen side to side…

typing on the storm is tedius and very hellish, i made many errors and it literally wouldnt let me type fast, id glad race any storm or iphone user in a words per minute race..

iphone- is for the cool hip TOOL types
Storm- i actually dunno who its for, not business enough for corp. and not user fruendly enough to eat into the iphone
G1- for nerds and geeks to start the community and the most versatile and custimizable..

g2 will be pretty and have the best OS on the market.

I work at a TMO store. We got 15 in on Thursday. Our store is slow and low volume. This leads me to believe that all stores will have the white G1. The other stores in my market have them as well. Gotta say, it is a good looking phone. Wasn’t sure if a dude should be sportin’ a white phone, but, I think this one is pretty damned sexy. We were told we can’t sell them until….Black Friday.

I think white can make anything come alive… However, if they were going to make it white, they should have made the back of it white as well – personal opinion.

I can confirm that in los angeles the white g1 will be available to the piblic starting on monday. I got this info from someone that works at tmo that they indeed have them already but can’t sell them until monday.
