Just a quick update, I got the Storm on Tuesday.. It’s a little different to get used to. A little buggy as well. The one thing that pissed me off, since I’ve used Crackberry phones for quite a while now..I’ve got several transfer cords, power supplies and car chargers…that are all now usless. Blackberry has changed to a mini connector…

Media manager will not work..therefore I’m not able to transfer stuff from Itunes. Verizon is usless for help in this area.

The phone is worth waiting for..

Portland OR update: Verizon stores are saying Verizon is sold out; (once you get past the 35 minute wait for a sales rep); and that if you order one, you can have it on 20-Dec.

Next door, at BestBuy? I got a Storm, a free USB hands free set and the necessary updates to my account in ~40 minutes and there were still a few left from today’s shipment.

I was inline 11/21 at about 6.30a to get mine. I was at the Jordan Landing Store in West Valley, UT and they got the most in the state @ 80 phones. I was about 30th in line, about 20th out the door with mine and they sold out around 10a from what my buddy said who manages the store.

I love the phone and I love being the center of attention as I wander around with it…especially from all the suckers who aren’t going to get theirs shipped until 12/15…enjoy that.

I got mine…I was #32 of about 80-100 people in line the day of the launch. The phone has a couple of minor bugs, but nothing that prevents you from using the phone, coming from a 8703e that has a fix Keyboard, typing on the Storm requires a little getting used to. The battery is not not that great, but that could be the area of coverage that I’m in. If you use the browser a lot you will kill the battery in no time. The chargers AC or car charger charges the Storm quickly (in less than one Hour)

My biggest disappointment is the screen material, plastic vs. glass. I wish it was glass. I have a screen protector and I have had the phone for less that in week and the screen saver is shot already. There is no wiping that one can do to clean or remove the scratches your fingers put on the screen. If it was glass, there would be no need for a screen protector and you could just wipe the glass clean with a micro cloth….just like the iPhone!

I ordered my phone at a corporate store on Fri. I was told that it would ship out and be received “no later than 11/25″. Fed Ex came and went where I had it delivered. I e-mailed Verizon for a tracking number. They replied the next day saying something about it shipping by Dec. 5th. I called the rep who sold me the phone and he was like “oh you should see it before 12/5.” Due to conflicting stories, I call Verizon. They say that it will supposedly ship before 12/5. I ordered before the cut-off and yet people who have ordered hours after I have at a corp store already have their phones. I am so frustrated that I can’t even get them to commit to a ship date. They should never have told people one thing and done another. If they had told me that it could possibly take a couple of weeks for me to receive the phone, then there would be no issues. I just feel we’ve all been a little tricked. I think they certainly could have handled this all much more efficiently, and furthermore, if they can’t take care of all of the people purchasing the phone, how the heck are they planning on providing customer service to their now expanded group of customers? …NOT HAPPY..

I live in the Westchester, NY area and went to the store in Hartsdale on 21st around 4 pm, but they were out…. obviously.

The next morning, I went to the Verizon store in the Westchester Mall, but was told that they were expecting a guy to come in around 10 to pick up the phone, but if he didn’t show up, would let me have it. Called the store in Rye Brook and was told that they had 2 remaining and I could have one. While I was in the store, 3 current Verizon customers came in to get the Storm, but were told that there were none left. Another person, who was switching over from T-Mobile as was I got the other phone.

There are a few issues with the phone, but that is expected with any new device. Hopefully they should have them fixed in the next firmware update.

ok so i order the storm on 11-21. at 7 am. and i was such in a hurry for work i told them 2 ship it 2 me. so i already paid for the phone and the rep told me that it would be here today monday 11-24.and in my reciept it says 2 day fedex. so my question is will it be here today or on dec 5?

Seems the experiences are quite mixed. My experience (thus far) was a good one. Being a NE2 ready Verizon customer, I tried to order the phone online Friday at about 10:00 AM. Of course the systems were all down. After trying over and over for about a half hour or so, I gave up and called Verizon.

In all honesty, they were really quite helpful and courteous, no doubt. The rep really went out of her way to try and order this phone for me through their system, to no avail as it was down. She promptly put me in a conference call with another rep (higher up maybe) who explained the system problems and told us that at that time, they were taking orders manually. He further stated that once the system was back up that evening, these manual orders would be entered and shipped out by 11/25. He took my info, data plan options, etc…and said once the order is entered I’ll receive a text confirmation with the location and order number’s. I was skeptical to say the least.

Well…..Sure enough at 7:15 PM that evening, I receive a text with the confirmation and all pertinent order numbers. At that point, I’m thinking…Ok it’s in the system, but I’m not seeing this thing for at least a month. To my surprise, I received an email from Verizon today stating the unit had shipped today via FedEx and gave me a tracking link to FedEx as well. Pretty good service IMHO, but I don’t have the phone in hand yet, so we’ll see.

It sounds like Verizon didn’t have a plan as to how they were going to serve the customer. There were many of us in line that day that were there to upgrade our phones and we were given no problems at all but that doesn’t seem to be the case with other stores. I know it’s difficult, but try to have some patience. The phone is definitely worth the wait. Also, if you are one of those people that don’t like change and don’t want to take the time to get used to typing on the virtual keyboard, this phone may not be for you.

I went into the Verizon store located in Aurora Colorado Friday 11/21 before noon. I’m an existing Verizon customer with some sort of preferred Verizon status. I was allowed to purchase the phone overall cost $149.00. The store was out of phones however they indicated that I would receive my phone by noon on Saturday. Great I ordered the phone. Saturday noon came and went no phone. I called Verizon I was told that the phone didn’t ship on Friday and that I should have it early this week. I still can’t get any kind of conformation from Verizon on when my new phone will ship. Is anyone else getting this story?

(NYC) Walked in to an authorized retailer and they had 1 Storm left. I said I would take it and the process started up to the point where I said I was a current Verizon customer. Sorry, I was told, they are strictly limited to new customers only. Try back on Friday. Great! So much for customer loyalty!

Ordered the Storm by phone on 11/17 with “guaranteed” ship on 11/21. Now scheduled to ship after 11/25. Verizon hyped this phone for months and should have been prepared. As usual great sales but no followup.

NJ is tapped dry, no Verizon store has the storm!! I stayed up until 3am on 12/20 the east coast (12midnigh – west coast) and ordered mine online. Now Verizon is telling me, it wont ship until or by 12/15/08.

went in thursday evening and one manager told me the store would open at 8am. Got there at 7:15am and they were already sold out. I asked the same manager what the deal was if they werent supposed to open for another 45 mins and he just said that at the last min they got a call to open the store at 7am instead of 8am and that they did call people that were on the waiting list (of which i was on..but when asked why i didn’t recieve a call, I was told that they only called around 50 people. so why have a waiting list??) then the first phones were sold by appointment.. who is verizon really wanting to sell these phones to??

I didn’t need to burn any cd’s to get the mp3’s to work on my Storm. Songs that I downloaded directly from itunes, I dropped them into a folder on my Storm and they worked perfectly.

I went to the local Verizon store on Rt. 4 in Paramus, NJ. It was 6:45am and I was 17th in line. They put our names on a list and let us leave. I came back at 8am when the doors opened and they started calling our names from the list, taking 8 people at a time. They had 40 units, I was able to upgrade very easily. I love the phone and it’s features. It took me about a day to get used to typing on it but I am getting faster and think it’s great.

I went to one store in Connecticut on Thursday evening asking what time they would open and if I would have any problems getting the phone on Friday. This store had the nerve to tell me that they took orders from customers and those customers would be getting the phone first and that there would be very few left after that so I had a slim chance of getting one. Needless to say I wasn’t too thrilled about that after having called around asking about this phone and having been told that nobody was taking orders. I then went home and call the store in the mall (across the street from the one I went into) and found out there that it was first come first serve with the store opening an hour early at 9:00a.m. After asking if I should come early he stated that the mall opens at 7 for mall walkers if I wanted to get there early. I got there about 7 and found only 1 person waiting. Eventually there about 4 of us waiting really early and the salespeople that got there before the store opened gave us numbered passes (I got pass #1) and told us we could leave and come back when the store opens. I think this was the best way to do it. I came back when the store opened and after 5 hours of waiting for my order to process because of systems crashes I walked out with my phone. I really like the phone but I’m not in love with it — yet. My only gripes about the situation are the fact that the Verizon should have upgraded their ordering system so it would crash at high volumes and have people standing in line for hours. Also, the fact that each store was doing it’s own thing as far as how they sold what little inventory they had. Had I accepted what the first store told me I would still been waiting to get my hands on a phone.
