Did you get your Verizon BlackBerry Storm?

We’ve done a quick check at around 10 Verizon corporate stores in the NY/NJ area with most of them reporting lines longer than they have stock for. That means there’s going to be 1.) A ton of pissed off people, and 2.) More pissed off people who won’t get their unit until tomorrow mid-day or possibly Tuesday. We want to know your experience, and if you did manage to snag a Storm (you lucky dog, you), we want to hear your first impressions! We also have reports that some stores are only selling to brand new Verizon customers and not doing any upgrades, which if true, is pretty disgusting. Hit us up in the comments and help out your fellow BlackBerry addicts, ok? If you just got one but there’s no line at your local store and they have some stock left, share the weath! Plus, if you’ve got a major issue you want to report, you can always hit me on the hip!

I am a current VZW customer and have an unlimited data/text and voice plan paying around $160 per month. In other words, I pay almost $2000 per year. I went to the VZW store by my home and they told me that I would have to pay the full price of $499 to buy the phone or add a line since I upgraded from a Treo (Horrible) to the curve in June. Is this how you treat a good customer? I inquired with ATT about their plans and I can get the Iphone 3G 16Gig for $299 with unlimited everything else for $149. I like the Verizon network but I want to know that they value my business. This is not the way! I’m going to try another store and then say Hasta La Vista Verizon.
Bold gets full 3G constantly
BGR: This one’s for you.
I ordered my storm online via NE2 upgrade. For some reason it said they will ship by 12/5. But, when I just go through the motions of buying the phone on a non-upgrade (both new user and current user w/o upgrade) there is no notice of later shipment.
Is Verizon purposely holding shipment on current users?
I went to the Matteson, il store at about 10, couldn’t get one, tried to order online, system must have been getting smashed…finally called and got one…only got charged 149….annual upgrade and gave me an extra 50 off
A friend of mine had to literally bribe people with money to get it. She let me play around with the phone a bit.
Its amazing! :]
I would just like to know why some stores are being selective about selling this phone. Obviously someone’s marketing ploy to save the phones for new customers or people they would potentially lose…I think its bad business
Told me straight up they only had some for new customers and not existing.
got one today at 5am in brandon florida i work in the mall at vonage and signed up for one at the local vonage kiosk 1st in line they only had 5 to give though
by the way they gave me a instant rebate and a free case for no reason
i mean verizon sorry
I went to verizon, they had none in stock and had to order me one that won’t ship until dec. 5
@ webbone…
Welcome to the wireless industry. Go ahead and switch to ATT but they would give you the exact same answer if you had just upgraded. The only company that would give you any discount at that point is T-Mobile who will give you a partial discount at any time. Like it or not that’s the way it is and switching carriers is not the answer. You are bound to run into the same situation on your next carrier. I get what you are saying about how much you pay though. I’d recommend calling CS and pleading your case or “threatening” to cancel and are what you can get. That’s how the game is played.
Reno, NV- I got to my local store at 7:10 a.m., waited for about an hour (but that’s because I was waiting for a specific rep) and finally got my Storm. I was incredibly happy with it, until it started turning off (w/ 3/4 charge) by itself. This has happened 3 times! I hope that its the battery and that they’ll replace free of charge. Overall, service was great (how can you say no to free starbucks and donuts). Sorry to everyone who weren’t able to get one!
I had no problem upgrading un the middle. Of my contract. I paid 319 with a new one year contract and I can still get the rebate making my final price 269. My store was very accomadayinh maybe that’s an advantage to living in small town Michigan!
Hey was anyone able to get them in chicago? do u know if stores will have them over the weekend?
Went to a corp. store in Brooklyn at about 1:30pm to play with the storm, they had less than 12 at that time and a list of people waiting, 14 to be exact but i did not see 14 people in the store go figure. After playing with it for about 20 min. I decided against it, cant get used to virtual qwerty’s not a bad phone but not a great one either. Sending back my Touch Pro and going back to the G1 still love that phone don’t know why.
does anyone know if there available in southern cali
Mine local store is totally sold out by lunch and they said they had 120!!!! WTF
I am really not judging anyone at all… To the contrary as a matter of fact… I am just asking you to remember the time you spent in line for a cell phone. Remember next time you are in a hurry or in a argument with someone. Remember it when your patience wears thin. I find it amazing how we as a society find the shiny things so attractive. I did not mean to call anyone a puppet, poor choice of words on my part. I apologize for that. But in the grand scheme of things really think about it. In all the important things in life, is it really worth waiting in line for a cell phone? When is the last time anyone spent three hours listening to their companion, or spent 3 consecutive hours reviewing their finances, or three hours reviewing their health, or three hours reviewing their relationship with their family. How about three hours on where their career is going? Even worse if you can’t get one, how do you make up that lost time. It is not this specific event that I am referencing, but look at the iPhone same thing. Thanks for thinking about it.
p.s. not trying to start a fight, just trying to ask people to think about what gives life meaning… And it is not a cell phone.
my local store sacramento,ca btw, has also said there next shipment isnt till 12/5.
has anyone else heard this?
Arrived at corp Virginia Beach store at 8:55am… Got in the door at maybe 9:10. Verizon system went down in the middle of the big sale. The store I went to have 80 units and about 50 people there. I was #9… Got stuck at 7 for about 2 and a half hours. Walked out at 1pm with my new device. Its very hard to use as a woman with long finger nails. I do like the phone but I noticed a major lag when I turn the device. Loving it so far though. Worth the $.
I walked into a store here in CO and no problem upgrading. They weren’t picky about who they sold to or even pushing data products (other then the $30 plan. Visual voicemail, VZnav, Rhapsody or anything.) They were out around 8:30 (only had 30)but I walked in waited about 15 minutes and was out of there. I was told though that the next shippment will be tuesday.
at totowa store on 46. got there at 830. fed ex was delivering a second shipment at 930. they had more than enough! over 200 people easily. im sure more. system went down. but big red fixed that pretty quick left at 2! lots of phone bopok transfers. but otherwise phone is amazing.. sorry apple!
the best buy mobile store in woodfield mall still had some as of 6 pm. Woodfield is in schaumburg illinois.
@ Chris, I think it’s a mixture of hobby/interest’s and unhealthy love of gadgets. I guess there’s not really a whole lot of thought about this and I don’t think communications related companies would want it either. It’s just the nature of the society that we have bred. As far as I understand the States leads the world in this style of disposal and consumption.
I just love gadgets and technology – probably a bit much.
