Did you get your Verizon BlackBerry Storm?

We’ve done a quick check at around 10 Verizon corporate stores in the NY/NJ area with most of them reporting lines longer than they have stock for. That means there’s going to be 1.) A ton of pissed off people, and 2.) More pissed off people who won’t get their unit until tomorrow mid-day or possibly Tuesday. We want to know your experience, and if you did manage to snag a Storm (you lucky dog, you), we want to hear your first impressions! We also have reports that some stores are only selling to brand new Verizon customers and not doing any upgrades, which if true, is pretty disgusting. Hit us up in the comments and help out your fellow BlackBerry addicts, ok? If you just got one but there’s no line at your local store and they have some stock left, share the weath! Plus, if you’ve got a major issue you want to report, you can always hit me on the hip!

“Pissed”, I wonder if I saw you this morning, lol. I intended to go to Verizon on 57th this morning, but when I got there it was about 8:30 and there was a line. Rather than come to work late, I passed. Might go during lunch just to play with it. From what I’ve been reading all morning on CNet, you ain’t missin’ a thing. The reviews were great BEFORE this phone came out. Anywho, thanks to your review, I know that the 57th street store is sold out. Many thanks for the heads up. Maybe it’s a good thing for you (and anyone else who waited or was turned away). Hopefully the next batch of storms will be better.

Scottsdale, Arizona. GoDaddy put a guy in the front of the line. The Verizon store let the one guy buy 1/3 of the phones 57 phones. He loaded a box of them into the back of his car while the line watched.

Gotta love Verizon. They value your business… just not as much as they value GoDaddy’s business.

Looks like there are two companies I won’t be using anymore.

I was about 20th on line this morning (got there at 7:15) and walked ut with mine at about 9:45. There was well over 100 poeple on line at 8:00 when they opened. They didn’t tell anyone to leave that I saw so they must have had at least 100 units (unless they told some to leave once I was inside getting the phone). I’ve been playing with it for about 2 hours now after charging it and I’m warming up to it. At first, I was having a lot of difficulty navigating around and typing seemed impossible, but then I got the hang of it and it’s pretty cool. I think a lot of people will feel the same way at first because it’s so different that what they had been using. The visual voicemail is awesome and the screen is just the clearest brightest I have ever seen on any device. I just want to warn others who get it to not get to frustrated at first. Play with it for an hour or so and you’ll love it.

RESTON VA – Went over there at lunch, about 12:15. Sold out, about 20 people in line inside the store. VZW staffer said they got about 80 for sale today; computer systems were down, so they were having customers fill out manual order forms, and said they’d ship them out so the customers would receive their units, pre-programmed for their accounts, by Monday or Tuesday.

They had 2 display units out – one had a locked screen. Got to play with the other one for about 5 minutes. It did seem a little “laggy.” I’ll probably wait a couple weeks before I make the decision to switch.

@ everyone who is complaining about waiting in the cold or for over an hour:
    1. That is your own dumb ass choice.
    2. Did you really not expect lines?
    3. You realize that you could order it or go into a store in the next few days and still get one right? Is your shallow need to be “first” among your friends and show it off that strong? That’s something kids do, not adults.

The only legitimate complaint is about VZW only selling them to new customers. I always get a good chuckle when I see retards standing in line for launches like this or the iPhone. The only thing funnier is all the people who waited and will be returning theirs in a couple days because they realize a real keyboard beats a touch one and its not even close.

Earlier this morning I was able to get on the VZW website. When I clicked on the picture of the Stor, it took me to an estore page that showed the Storm with a price of $99 for new customers. Anyone else see that? Now I can’t even navigate the site. Seems to be major issues. I’m up for NE2 but my contract doesn’t expire until March. I’ve been mulling over to either wait to switch to ATT or buy the Storm. So far the early review don’t seem all that great (although it sounds like the phones might be getting flashed before they go out for OS upgrade).

When I first switched to VZW from Sprint 5 years ago, I thought VZW has the best (Sprint was & is still horrible). However, over the last year or so I’ve seen VZW customer service slip. All this garbage about existing customers being turned away when intending to buy a Storm irks me. I’ll wait to play with the most current OS before making the decision. So far this launch doesn’t look good for VZW.

16th in line at 6:30 in Mt Vernon Wa, they had 20 and were notified no more at the warehouse… Manager wasn’t sure if they would get their shipment tomorrow morning either… We were pissed about waiting outside when there was a whole part of the store not being used. they would only let 10 of 19 people in and had 2 girls just watching.. we were told because of theft they would only allow 10 people in at a time… b.s. we at least had coffee but no bathrooms close… I almost went to AT&T and bought an iphone…. was late to work so haven’t had a chance to play with my storm yet…. . Plan better VERIZoN

Update – I went back to the Verizon Corp store in Woodbridge, NJ and they did get another shipment (or were withholding phones until they realized no one was coming to buy them). All systems needed a reboot and they were ready and working again. I got my storm.

Downtown Seattle Corp Store – 30 units available. Letting 5 customers in at a time. 100-150 people. All units gone before opening as the handed out 30 vouchers to first 30 in line. Weird though…operating system is .65- I thought there was newer version out there.

I went to get my Blackberry Storm this morning and they told us we will have to get it tomorrow because they shipped them back to be flashed!!!!!!! How can they do that!!!!!!!??????? Today was the freaking RELEASE DATE! I’m soooo mad because I missed soooooo much today to get the phone and they don’t even have it. I’M FED UP WITH VERIZON RIGHT NOW!!!!!! I just want the phone! I went everywhere and no one had it. Not a single store within 30 miles of where I live had one…. I live in SC by the way.

I just can’t wait to get my phone in the morning. They assured me that I would get mine because of everything I had to go through. They are holding it for me. I guess that’s the least they could do!

Waited on line @ the 41st & 6th Avenue Store in NYC, and came up short. I actually expected this was OK with ordering it… especially since they said they were going to apply the rebate immediately for those who waited. But even that fell through! The system went down… and down hard. So my day consisted of waiting for a Storm I didn’t get, and waiting for an order I couldn’t complete. I’m a huge Verizon fan and like I said, I expected this, but come on… I actually saw customers leaving with more than one unit. How can that be, with a line around the corner?

This was bad… but its not enough for me to go to wack ass AT&T. Never that.

So now, I have no Storm whatsoever and some fool has one and doesn’t know what to do with it

    Sheesh!

It took alot for me not to hit someone over the head ans run with it.. LMAO

You are all puppets… How can waiting in line for a cell phone make your life better? Next time you get impatient with someone think back to the time you waited three hours in cold weather to buy a cell phone.

I’d waiting to switch from ATT and had been dealing with our Northern Californian rep to get everything set for this morning. They’d actually put everything in place so it was ready to go yesterday. This is the email I got from him this morning, “I got your order in this morning but it didn’t ship before we ran out of Storms, I’m really sorry but your phone will ship no later then 11/25/2008″
