Did you get your Verizon BlackBerry Storm?
We’ve done a quick check at around 10 Verizon corporate stores in the NY/NJ area with most of them reporting lines longer than they have stock for. That means there’s going to be 1.) A ton of pissed off people, and 2.) More pissed off people who won’t get their unit until tomorrow mid-day or possibly Tuesday. We want to know your experience, and if you did manage to snag a Storm (you lucky dog, you), we want to hear your first impressions! We also have reports that some stores are only selling to brand new Verizon customers and not doing any upgrades, which if true, is pretty disgusting. Hit us up in the comments and help out your fellow BlackBerry addicts, ok? If you just got one but there’s no line at your local store and they have some stock left, share the weath! Plus, if you’ve got a major issue you want to report, you can always hit me on the hip!

Was told they received 30 units. There were maybe 15-20 in line tops, so there should be some remaining.

Lehigh Valley Mall , Whitehall PA. Opening at 10am, me and my friend who work at at&t were the only ones in the store… hmmm on a launch day? sad for that store i’d say. I played with a storm for 5 minutes and it crashed on me
overall an ok device, but a hardcore bb user will not enjoy it.
CHICAGO, IL: Line of 12 people before early store opening at 6am. Manager said each Chicago store got only 4 phones (except a larger downtown store got 8). If you didn’t get one of the 4 phones you had two options: wait until Tuesday for more stock or buy now plus $20 to ship and get it Saturday before noon. If you ship it you get your $50 rebate instantly. (I was 5th in line, bummer, so I’ll get one shipped.)

Store had 10 units… Store employees said to be here early… Been a VZW client for years… Thousands of $$$ spent with Verizon…
Would not upgrade my phone this morning!… It was time… They will send me one… next week…. NICE! If I could use the I-phone as a modem… I would be at AT&T right now. Nice service job Verizon!

because I didn’t make the recommended setup appointment today. Verizon said they can put my name on a list, all nearby verizon stores sold out before 10AM. Best Buy will be giving me 1 tomorrow (they hope).

Got to play with one. Hard for me to type, but not used to a touchscreen in general. I’m not sold on the Storm anymore though.
Big problem: I ended up CRASHING the thing while simply typing into the Google search bar. “Fatal error, shutting down” and the phone shut off. I asked what firmware its running, it shipped with the 4.7 but they updated it this morning to something else.
Looks like I’ll be waiting on the sidelines to see just how buggy this beast is.
Was informed by a friend, that still works in one of the Hampton Roads area stores, that management has advise to only sell stock to new or upgrading customers (they only got 20 in yesterday). So I did not waste my time in the wonderful weather. Called around 6am and will have it before noon tomorrow.
I went to the Verizon Wireless store just to see the demo they had on the floor. One model had Version 4.7.0.61 and the other model had Version 4.7.0.65. The Version .65 was much more stable than .61. I was wary on the typing of the Storm, but after typing on it for 10 mins. I feel instantly in love. I do 100+ emails a day and this would be a dream typing on.
I am wondering what Version the Storms are coming in as? .61 or .65?
I did my order over the phone so I could get the $100 discount and they would send it to me on Monday. You can’t beat a Storm for $99.00.

At corporate store now at westfarms mall in CT. System is slow as death with average 1hr per customer setup. They have 50 in stock and 20 more coming and are handing out place cards. I think you can still get one if you get here by noon. I played with the display and think they keyboard is actually much better than most reviews have said and I am a semi-power user. It is kinda slow but I think subsequent upgrades will fix this.
Got one for my wife this morning. We were 4th in line. Verizon reps handled the crowd very well. However, they only received 11 units. Several were turned away with a promise of more stock this afternoon. The lady next to me was not able to get hers because her credit card was declined. However, the store agreed to hold it for her. While that sucks for ones with cash in hand, I thought it was great customer service. My initial impressions of the device fall right in line with BG!
My neighbor and I had been told on multiple occasions over past week by our local V Store (Glen Mills, PA) that the store was opening at 7am today to take orders for the Storm and they would have plenty of stock. We arrived a little before 7am today and were 1&2 in line. Note taped to window said opening at 8am. They finally opened at 8am and had only 5 units. We were told that they were told by mgmt. that they weren’t allowed to open at 7am for Insurance reasons. We both got our phones and have been playing with them. so far very pleased. Would have been nice if they had at least let us stand inside out of the snow to keep warm!
Just got back from corp store in Woodbridge, NJ. Computers are down!! They ran out of phones!!! They are offering $50 credit if you wait for computers to come back up and sign up for a storm, which will be delivered in 5-7 business days. They also keep telling customers that they dont have any units in the store, but if the warehouse has any they will ship them over today to the store. I personally think they are just saying that to keep customers waiting around until their system comes back up.

gotta say verizon dropped the ball nationwide on this one. in las vegas all three corporate stores were sold out within 30 minutes. i waited 45 minutes before i heard the douchebag tell someone the store was out of stock. when i asked him why the fuck the rest of us were still standing there he answered with a look of stuipidity. order online save yourself the wait. tempted to go get myself an iPhone today instead..i didnt notice 100 people and a news crew outside the apple store this morning…
Verizon just rebooted their business system servers…there were 1 hour delays in processing new phones.
They had about 14 phones for 50 people at Verizon in Manhasset. No numbers were given out and there were three different lists. People last in line were getting some. They said they were getting more in PM but you had to wait and be in store when they came or start over. Waited 1 hour to order for delivery and finally left. The congress must be running Verizon.
I did look at someone who had gotten one. The lag time was very noticeable and the clicking was a chore. I could not play with senstivity settings and could not find the firmware number. Nice looking screen, but OS is buggy and needs significant work if these problems can be fixed at all. I will wait for some more firmware upgrades.
Well, was 24th in line at the Beverly Center store in LA and they were sold out when I got to the front (I think I was the first rejection). Ordered one online from my car, will have to play with the bold until tomorrow morning!
My Verizon store opened at 7am. There was a line of about 10 people when I got there at around 6:30am. I went the night before and they told me they only had 15 in stock for tomorrow morning. I was like the 11th customer. I totally lucked out. Very happy with the device currently. They mentioned there is going to be an update today/tomorrow and it can be done OTA. My current version is 4.7.0.65 Can anyone confirm if that is the reflashed version or the one prior? Thanks!
