Samsung T459 Gravity now available at T-Mobile

Hey folks, we know a few of you readers out there have been wondering about this slick new phone from Samsung and T-Mobile, and there’s some good news. Last month, we mentioned that the Samsung Gravity for T-Mobile was coming out November 17, and some commenters were chiming in today asking if this slide-out QWERTY is available (it’s not on the website yet). Our confirmations say the Gravity is now in stores, but not on display, so you can go in and purchase one today! Here’s a little recap for those of you who missed out on details last month:

  • Pull out QWERTY keyboard
  • Aqua with white or Lime with Gray finish
  • Web-enabled
  • Multiple messaging options (text messaging, picture messaging, video messaging)
  • Built-in email clients including AOL, AIM and Yahoo! as well as easy access to popular POP3 email such as Gmail
  • AOL®, ICQ, Windows Live®, and Yahoo!® Instant Messenger
  • Bluetooth® wireless technology
  • microSD™ (up to 4 GB) expansion memory
  • Advanced speech recognition
  • Music and video player
  • Speakerphone
  • Personal organizer (calendar, calculator, currency converter, notepad, to-do list)
  • Dimensions: 4.53” x 2.07” x 0.70”; 4.3 ounces
  • Display: 176 x 220 Pixels, 262K TFT
  • Internal memory: 60MB
  • Standard Lithium Ion Battery: up to 6 hours usage time; or up to 300 hours standby time

That is some killer battery life, eh? You can text and email for days without a worry. The phone comes in two color options: Lime with gray (pictured) and Aqua with white (we don’t know why they chose the color of the selector to precede the actual color of the whole phone). Grab yours today for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a two year contract!

We just bought four Gravity phones for our family and we are all getting TERRIBLE battery life. Less than one day on a full charge and thats not even using it. I had 3 bars one hour ago and now it is dead already. Phones are less than two weeks old!

I bought this phone 4 days ago, and i have had to charge it twice, and i only have one bar now. I’m thinking about returning it. Otherwise, it’s fine, but I don’t want to have to charge it all the time. That’s a pain.

sooo? What has everyone done, returned it to the store, requested a new battery. I’m having the same trouble and have less than a week to return it if I don’t like it. If there is a battery issue here, it’s going back. Please advise, thanks in advance. I mean I’m not keeping it if it’t has a defect, screw that, my razr, lasted 4-5 days without having to charge it

The battery life on this phone really sucks! T-mobile told me that they haven’t had any problems but my phone battery never lasts more than a few hours and most of the time it isn’t even being used. I returned mine for a refund.

My family has three of them and I am having the same problem. I gave up my modest nokia 6310 which lasted forever and right away spotted the battery leakage. I think that the “unlock mode” is because they knew it was a battery hog…

All of mine are going back.

I’ve got two of them and have had them for 2 weeks. The battery issue is the same for both phones. It goes from full to 2 bars quickly, but it keeps a single bar for 2 days. Can’t figure it out. I’ve waited a long time for a full qwerty side slider so I’m happy with my purchase. $50! Can’t beat that. Call TMobile to get a complaint on the books. Maybe they’ll offer a new battery or a credit on your bill. It’s worth a try.

Battery problems too!! Tmobile sent me a new battery and it still did it….After the new battery they have since sent me two replacement phones and they do the same thing….I charge it and the battery still does the same thing. So, I guess I get to go through the technical phone call to tmobile all over again and see what they will do next…..

oh well, I brought mine back before the two week period was up, glad I did, if the battery life is this crappy when you first buy it, imagine 6 months to a year from now. Not totally unexpected, I see T-Mobiles is giving them out for free now with a new two year contract agreement. Heh, some how I saw this coming… Good luck all.

Just ordered two for my wife and daughter last night. Wish they hadn’t seen then now and will take back if they do the same thing battery wise. I agreed to buy Samsung because they have a really good reputation for a quality product now I am not so sure.

Dave, don’t worry about the battery so much. I’ve had two now for over a month and I love them. I use mine often and the battery will last most of a week. I don’t know about you but I’ve never had a charge last more than that, no matter what phone I’ve had.

I’m also having battery issues. Charged it all day and it lost 2 bars after taking a few photos and a text :( I hear if you let it go completey dead and charge it without interrupting it within 5 hours, that should do the trick. So far I haven’t let mine die but if the bars start getting lower I’ll just have to test that theory out.

I had this phone twice (in both colors). The aqua battery was killing me (died quickly) but it was strange because the black one was fine. I have to return a different phone and was thinking about getting this again because I loved it so much but I’m skeptical because of the battery life

I called t-mobile the day before my “buyer’s remorse” 2 week period was up. They told me they are aware there is a battery problem, but are looking at it. I really like this phone and kept it anyway. I just carry the charger with me and plug it in when I am at work during the day. Hopefully they will be able to fix this soon.
