Samsung T459 Gravity now available at T-Mobile
Hey folks, we know a few of you readers out there have been wondering about this slick new phone from Samsung and T-Mobile, and there’s some good news. Last month, we mentioned that the Samsung Gravity for T-Mobile was coming out November 17, and some commenters were chiming in today asking if this slide-out QWERTY is available (it’s not on the website yet). Our confirmations say the Gravity is now in stores, but not on display, so you can go in and purchase one today! Here’s a little recap for those of you who missed out on details last month:

Grab yours today for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a two year contract!

I bought this phone yesterday it died almost immediately so I charged it when I got home and played a game for maybe half an hour and is down to 1 bar this morning and im obviously not doing anything during the night…
I bought two and they said at the store they are aware of the problem. I specifically bought the phone for the battery life and keyboard. The battery indicator does read wrong. the battery will easily last a day but the indicator will be one bar for most of the time. Hopefully they can fix this issue… I always let the battery completely die before recharging…
We switched from sprint to tmobile last week and that was when i got the gravity. my dad had told me that you are suppose to fully charge the phone without using it, right after you get it from the store. because the phone then recognizes how much it can hold battery power. By charging it fully for the first time, it has Chemical checking the capacity. Might this be the reason why most have had issues with the battery life? Because we didnt charge it fully the first time? Hmmmmmm, please respond Tmobilers ..thanks!
I’m very disapointed with this Gravity, I have dropped calls (which never happened with any of my other tmobile phones) Battery life sucks, I think overall tmobile is an ok service. I called them today and there sending a replacment phone. I had asked if there were alot of cmplaints about this phone and they said ”Not at all,There are #1 selling phone” I knew that was a lie after readin all these reviews. I’m thinking about buying out of my contract and going with another provider.
I think this phone is great but they need to create a better one The Gravity 2-it will have a 2 megapixel camera, all the features now, flash and a nicer interface.
It’s 2 days old and I noticed the discharge after it sat (not using it) after only a couple hours lost two bars. My son in law told me about the problem but only after I received it (He has one, same deal).I will try completely draining it if that doesn’t work it’s going back! WORD!!!
I just got this phone last week and noticed the battery drops a couple bars only a few hours after I unplug it. Like a previous commenter, I unplug it at 7:30 and by 11:30 it’s down to 2 out of 5 bars. I’m going to try letting it run all the way down and see if that helps. Otherwise I like the phone. The keyboard is easy to use, fast, helpful and fun.
BATTERY SOLUTION:
I had this phone. Had the same problem with the battery. Went to the store, their solution, buy a charger to keep it charged. MY solution, replace the phone. I also had issues with the screen flipping between landscape and portrait when i wasn’t even opening or closing the slider. I switched to the sidekick slide and have had no (ZERO) problems with the phone. Great battery. I don’t have video, now. But that was a small sacrifice to actually be able to use my phone for longer than a half a day.
I’m happy to report that I let my battery run totally and completely dead overnight. This morning I charged it for about 3 hours until it said Charge Complete. Almost 10 hours later and I still have all 5 bars in the battery icon! MUCH better than before.

well the battery dies quickly if i use the keyboard i love this phone and it is indestructable i threw iit on a telephone pole by accitdent it only got scratched i dropped it so many times it doesnt break
i am getting the gravity today and i am going to try to charge it fully right when i get it, and then use it. and THEN let the battery run all the way out, and then charge it for a couple hours. hopefully this will work.
but it just sounds inconvenient, because i had a razr and it lasted 5 days without charging. and i even used it while it charged. only thing was i really wanted a keyboard. thats why im getting the gravity !
According to my sources the battery is the problem. The built in battery management chip in it is just bad. What I did to fix the problem was I took my battery out of my old Samsung T619 and it is the same voltage, same contact pins but just a hair shorter. I cut a small bit of pencil eraser to wedge between it and the body to keep it up against the contact pins. Works just fine and the bars decrease at an even rate – as it should. A charge lasts me 2-3 days. Don’t know if anyone else has tried something similiar but it has worked for me.
Okay the reason you all are having trouble with the battery life is because the blacklight is on full. you need to lower the lighting and duration time in order to have more battery life. it is not the battery. if you need more help on how to lower the black light watch this video —-> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dogxiId5G94
Here is a great way to get hosed.
Buy a new Gravity phone made by Samsung and sold by your friendly service provider T-Mobile. Sign up for a 1 year contract. After about 4 months notice the battery is having problems. All the users see it, Samsung is not that ignorant, they must be aware of it, and T-Mobile has a policy that tells you this”We recognize the phone & battery have a problem. The problem is that the phone battery indicator does not read the battery charge correctly. When the phone says you only have 1 bar of charge left, you actually have more.” Hey…when the battery is dead, it’s dead. When the car runs out of gas and you are standing alongside the rode, do you car what the fuel gauge says? I do not think so.
So we ask t-mobile for another battery. Sorry, outside the 90 day window. Buy one for $39.00. The new ones have the same problem. December our 5 contracts are up with T-mobile….yeah…come on Santa. And I work in the chip industry selling to Samsung! No wonder their market share is dropping. Hello Motorola!

this battery sucks.
i charge it all night and wake up with it dead. im lucky this is summer and i dont really need it- because when i go to school my phone will be dead.
and i will be phone less.
im even considering going back to my old phone. it may have been malfunctioning, but it was better than having a practically non-existant phone!
i just bought the aqua and white phone, had no problems with the battery, but then i lost it and they sent me a new one, and this new one, the battery sucks. i don’t think i have used it so much that it only goes to three or two bars within two or three hours after maybe only four or five texts?! well im going to try letting it die first and then charging it to see if that helps, im glad i came to this website now i know its not just me
i really like this phone it is a very good phone especially for txtin i would advice anyone with t-mobile to get this phone.
thanks~
