Verizon’s Touch Diamond pushed back to January?
The CDMA world is still waiting on a firm release date for Verizon’s iteration of the sleek HTC Touch Diamond and a new rumor might not exactly be the news we were hoping for. Initially it was thought that HTC’s sexy touchscreen handset would be headed to Big Red in October, then back in September we learned that internal training might not even take place until December. The latest rumor now puts the release date at some point in January of next year. Let’s hope we’re still looking at a December release which would make the Touch Diamond a holiday option, though its omission from the latest rebate sheet covering now through January 31st isn’t a promising sign. Well, at least we know the Touch Pro will be released in time for the holidays.
[Thanks, Brandon!]

That sucks… Hope this isn’t true for the Verizon Wireless faithful’s sake.
LOL These gadget sites are all of the same pattern the last few years. Supposedly “exciting” product is previewed, product is talked about and analyzed to death, hype is created amongst the dorks who read these sites, product is ultimately delayed 100 times if it indeed ever comes out. Anybody else getting bored of these sites? Nothing is really exciting anymore. And most things that are hyped up in pictures and words are ultimately lame in person and/ or come out a year later.
Does anyone know how Verizons Touch Pro is supposed to look like? The original diamond back or some ugly castrate like Sprint has produced. Just try to figure if the wait is worth wile after all …..
Does anyone know if verizon is going to keep the original back, or have the same back as the CDMA sprint diamond? im probably leaning towards sprints design, which is too bad, i think it takes away from the phone
@Chris Meyers
um, i personally love tech websites still. The Boy Genius’s former site, Engadget, this, and many other still offer great technology news
Not a huge loss. The CDMA Touch Diamond doesn’t run very good at all. Plus unless HTC has solved the issues of the battery being bigger the VZW model won’t have the sexy diamond cut back like its gsm counterpart…
@ Chris Meyers…don’t bother with them then…let alone caring enough to comment…I was looking forward to this but it never materialized…and then the Storm hit!
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
do you think vericon will be getting the white diamond, they do have the original touch in white.
VeriZon
@Scott: I wonder if the push-back is to try to fix issues that the CDMA Diamond has had on Sprint?
Oh, who am I kidding, it’s obviously so they can find new and interesting ways to cripple it, out of sheer hatred for the consumer.
Now that Alltel is Verizon they have the Diamond and Pro
Verizon sucks
Is it easy to change the ATT background on the HTC Touch Pro to its original black background such as sported on the Sprint version?
Come on Verizon I desperately need a new phone. Looks like its down to a race between the Storm(11/21) and the Omnia(?)…
they need time to cripple the phone further…

@Chris Meyers: Or the dorks that post to them?
What a stupid comment to make on a site dedicated so such discussion. In case you can’t figure this out for yourself, the day you get tired of reading this site, just stop typing it in your browser window.
well i just talked to verizon rep about getting a unlocked nokia on there service they said no, so i then i asked about getting a unlocked touch pro and he told me “you can get the touch pro we offer” i asked “when will it be released?” he said ” december 1st” so hopefully it will be released dec 1st and he also told me that it will be $539 retail price

But it -is- on that list. It’s the very last item.
