Official Best Buy Blackberry Storm Pricing – not bad as previously thought

Just like the anticipation for the release of the BlackBerry Bold, many of you out there are wishing you can just wake up tomorrow and know that your local Verizon will already have the Storm. Well, you won’t have to keep dreaming much longer as we’re just a few days away from the official release. However, if you happen to be someone who can wait for a gadget to come out, even if it’s just a few days, then you will have more than just one option. Go to Verizon to pick up your new BlackBerry? Or head to Best Buy where you can grab a new Storm as well as fight the temptation to make impulsive electronics purchases? If the latter sounds more tempting, you need not be afraid of the previously mentioned pricing for the Storm. Yes, the BlackBerry Storm will still cost $599.99, but that’s only if you pick it up outside of contract. Apparently, you can also pick it up for the same price that Verizon is offering it for with a new contract or eligible upgrade. Inking a two-year deal will allow you to pick up the Storm for $199.99, and a one-year contract brings the price of the phone to $299.99. It’s nice to have options, isn’t it? Hit the jump for a quick shot of Best Buy’s Storm signage.
[Thanks, Jason!]

@Storm Analyzer
Honestly? Did you have to post this exact same thing on two separate occasions… neither of which have anything to do with your absurd “analyzing.”
@Tommy:
We are actually calling today to schedule apointments with our pre-order customers. Some stores might wait until Thursday at the latest but most should start the process immediatly. The call back process is up to each mobile manager to complete. I am scheduling appointments in the order I received preorders (1st-3rd pre-order gets the 10am appointment on the 21st, 4th-6th get the 10:45am appointment, etc). This saves you from waiting in line to purchase the phone and allows us to devote 45 minutes to the transaction to make sure all your needs are met before you leave. I am heavily staffed in the morning to accomidate the traffic and I imagine most stores are doing something similar.
@GetOverIt:
There are many reasons why, and it’s honestly somewhat complicated. Basically we cut our profit margins to close more sales and rely on the additional foot traffic we receive due to the customers shopping in the rest of the store. We also sell laptops and have a high potential for attaching aircards to laptop customers.
Take for instance lets talk (dot) com – very low prices for the same phones the corporate stores sell for much more. We work off a similar principle but offer that value savings in a brick and morter platform.
@Alan:
I’m sorry to hear that. I would recomend talking to the Mobile Manager, not just one of the sales consultants as sometimes they get things wrong, make sure you hear it from the horses mouth. If indeed the Best Buy will not honor the NE2 you are in a tough situation. You still get it for the same out the door price ($199) since you don’t have to worry about the rebate and get a free $49.99 bluetooth, but is that worth it to you? I would plead my case with the Mobile Manager and hopefully get him to change his mind, if he won’t budge you might be forced to buy from Verizon.
@Storm Analyzer:
There is such a device that does ALL these things? Otherwise STFU.
@Best Buy
Spoke with the manager, who said I could now use my NE2 credit, but he was unaware of pricing information having been released yet. Is it possible you got yours but my local best buy has yet to get theirs? It isn’t going to be different store to store, right? Best case scenario is the NE2 credit, free headset for a Storm for 150 total with headset. This is starting to get painful to figure out…
@Alan
Your store’s manager is just behind the times. You will get the phone for $149.99 and get a free $49.99 bluetooth. No worrys no need to be confused. Schedule your appointment with him and get ready for the 21st!
any chance that this will cause AT&T to drop their Bold price to $199 with 2 year contract?
You can get all the pricing information from Best Buy’s website. Without contract the phone is $529.99 or $199.99 after instant discount with a new Verizon Wireless account…just like the best buy manager said.
such bs 529.99, i get an upgrade in 4 months, does anyone know how i can get the 199.99 price i have no problem signing another 2 yr contract, if anyone has advice please let me know, really discouraged by this and thinking of just dropping verizon for 110 dollars and getting the iphone over this.
why discouraged? You signed up for the contract. I’m in a contract until 2/2009 with AT&T. This gives me time not to impulse buy and see what problems crop up. I already know from Co-workers that the Bold is a great phone if I decide to stay with AT&T
discouraged bc ive wanted to get the iphone in the worst way but i have verizon found out about the storm in july when it was referred to as the thunder now i am learning i have to pay 529 for it which is stupid, might as well drop verizon and get the iphone will cost me less than 529.
@Mike
If you agree to a new 2yr contract your price is $199. Nobody’s going to pay the full $529.99 for this, your not expected to.
i called verizon earlier and they told me i would have to pay full retail price cause im not eligible for an upgrade, maybe i was getting bad info but in was there customer service person.
if you have only 4 months left, it won’t cost much to terminate it early and sign up for a new contract and get the new contract price. but then you won’t get the NE2 benefits.
Anyone know how long the free bluetooth headset deal w/ Storm lasts for?
They were wrong. You won’t qualify for the additional $50 off for New Every 2, but your price out the door will be $199.99 if you agree to a new 2yr contract.
@Mike
I know if you go into a Corp. store and pleade your case with a manager and dont get too aggressive the manager can override the system. I have had it done in the recent past with some customers. It takes some effort but don’t walk in there and demand it. Just try to use the excuse that you need to get a global BB for work. No promises but just a suggestion.
You forget the things the storm CAN do..
1. Make a phone call and not drop it ten times.
2. 3g Data that ACTUALLY WORKS.
3. Battery that lasts a day, not 5 hours like the Iphone, oh and with the Storm you can carry multiple batteries.
4. Email that WORKS.. not email that SOMETIMES works like the Iphone.
5. A LED to let me know I missed a call or email while I was in the can.
Iphone fag boys are such a hoot..
^ I’ve shit higher lifeforms than you!
@Mike:
a) quit your crying
b) why would you PAY to get out of your VZW contract, then go buy a iPhone and sign for another contract (on an inferior network)?
If you’re dead set to get something before you are eligible per the contract you signed, buy yourself out of your contract (they will let you) and sign up for a new contract right there and then.
New every two is a Verizon thing, it does not work, at Best Buy.
I agree with what smknv8s said about getting the phone while still in contract. Just go into the store or call CS and talk to them…if they rep wont help you ask to speak with a supervisor. I wouldnt suggest crying and complaining like everyone does on here about it. Act like a human being, don’t be a jerkoff and threaten to cancel your service because let me tell you….they will tell you goodbye in many instances. If they gave in to every person that has threatened to cancel they wouldn’t be in business.
I understand it is frustrating I do this when i call into CS for a customer. If i don’t get what I want and i have a good feeling I can get it. I just call back and talk to another rep or ask for a supervisor. But the whole key is don’t act like you are a sub-human form of life.
If that signage on top is what we’re going by as proof of the price, I’m skeptical. I trust BGR for good news, but that pic up top screams photoshop to me. Look at the angles of the text “Geek Squad Email Setup” to the rest of the page. Also, note how the M and the K are a little higher than the rest of the text surrounding it.
Wow, the hate on here is amazing! HAHA
@sparky
just go into best buy. they have that same sign in all the spots where the storm will be located.
@bunit
Ok. If Best Buy has this up, no prob. I was just worried if that pricing pic up top was the only confirmation we had, we might have been had.
