Blackberry Storm to hit Best Buy November 23rd

We just want to warn all you Sunday newspaper readers out there: Don’t be alarmed when you flip to the Best Buy ad and see the Storm front and center on the Best Buy Mobile page for this Sunday. Yup, there it is in all its glory, supposedly available for sale today. It is even listed with a free Plantronics 360 bluetooth headset. Don’t go running down to Best Buy just yet though. It wont be there as these fliers were printed before the latest delay that pushed the Storm launch to November 23rd for Best Buy. A small disclaimer on its website confirms the new release date. So anyone who doesn’t want to brave the crowds at Verizon stores on release day can head on down to your local Best Buy one week from today and score yourself a Storm. Start robbing those piggy banks though, as the Storm without a contract as purchased from Best Buy will set you back a cool $599. Hit the jump to see the full Best Buy advertisement in this Sunday’s flier and the pricing page.

[Thanks, Brian!]

@Paul: Don’t get me wrong, I love my iPhone 3G. The touch interface, the GUI & the browser are far more advanced than any other phone on the market. The App Store is also the most convenient of any other phone.

I watched the Speed Racer video that comes on the BB Bold, and that looked stunning. But it’s my work phone, so I do not use it for entertainment. I use it for E-mails and documents.

On the iPhone, I don’t watch many videos either. I use it mostly as an iPod and a Phone. The only time I really watch videos or movies is at home on my home theater setup, or on a plane on my 17″ MacBook Pro. I also like to view pictures on my iPhone – but I don’t take many with it. I have a 10.3MP Sony that I take most of my pictures with and just load them onto my Mac and then they sync onto my iPhone.

If I watch a video on the iPhone it’s mostly for YouTube.

You need some pussy my friend!!!

    @ bigdreamer11:

Don’t worry my very vulgar and idiot friend, I have a nice life and I could care less what YOU think. I also do not care how many Storms are sold as I make no money if it sells or not.

All I said in my original comment was that without WiFi or apps it was a deal killer for ME!

It was all the kool-aide drinking asses on here that made it there business to attack me to somehow prove the Storm did have WiFi and apps or it didn’t matter, I can not remember which! HAHA

All you have to do on this stupid Fanboy blog is state ONE fact that their beloved phone is missing an important feature and the monkeys do all sorts of tricks to prove that it doesn’t. Just mention choice and the crazies come from all over! They do not NEED CHOICE! HAHAHA

They are so happy paying way too much for less and CHOICE, MISSING FEATURES or CRIPPLED devices stating how it NEVER matters. Unless of course it is on a phone or device they don’t own, then it is VERY important to them! HAHAHA

The Storm is a nice phone, but lacks important features to ME and that will be important to others.

The iPhone outsold ALL the RIM devices recently. I doubt the Storm will sell anywhere near as many iPhone already sold. In six months YOU too will realize I was right!

Maybe if you had a grasp of the English language and was not so upset that I pointed out the Storm was not so fantastic, you could write a paragraph without a personal attack filled with street language.

I am sure you have no idea, but it clearly weakens your argument (not that you made one) and makes you sound as stupid as you may actually be. See facts matter, not insults from morons using words that his mommy should have put soap in their mouths.

Attack my facts, not the messenger or shut up!

    @ MadMike:

Your point is made and you surely sound like a quite reasonable and nice guy. Sorry I slapped you together with some of the rabble that hangs out all day on this site that is mostly filled with unknowledgeable Fanboys that show their fangs as soon as anyone points out a missing feature.

As I explained above they ONLY seem to care about missing features or shortcomings on devices they never owned or touched.

Fantastic price for a crippled device with NO WiFi, NO multi-touch, NO games, NO apps, I am driving right over to wait of the line!!! Let’s rejoice!”

Ok let’s look at what you said when you first opened that toilet of a mouth. According to that trash the Storm is a piece of expensive sh*t. 200 with a two year plan is an incredible price.
Now let’s look at what you just frikin said

The Storm is a nice phone, but lacks important features to ME and that will be important to others.

Gee make up your damn mind bunghole. Does it suck or is it a nice phone? Or is it because everyone thinks that you a bunghole and disagrees with you. Man you really are a bunghole.

Half you spoked with corporate, or someone with some say? Because I for one will revoke my preorder and go two blocks down the street, the entire ordeal is unacceptable, and the answer I’ve gotten was the 21st, on both ends…. They (888 Best Buy) didn’t even know about the issue on the website, and once informed told me it was still the 21st…. Any insight…?

    Phil says:

I guess it all comes down to: How often do you make VoIP calls on your mobile device, or connect to a WiFi network at all, for that matter? Some people (not me) all the time, I guess. I’m leaning toward the Storm as a replacement for my Dash (Edge). I’m hoping 3G more than satisfies all my data requirements. Do you use your smartphone for high-end multi-user gaming or file sharing? How often, really? Seems to me I’d rather have a computer for that. I really like the potential one-handed text entry of the Storm in the portrait (vertical) mode, like the Dash/Curve forms. I’m frequently traversing airport concourses, dragging a suitcase with the other hand. I venture that I would use that feature WAY more than pinching and spreading photos, as cool as that (arguably) is on the iPhone. It’s all a trade-off and how much you REALLY would use each feature. My editorial.

    Mike says:

I think Phil said it best… It depends on what you are doing with the phone. My company did an extensive evaluation of the iPhone and for business purposes it just wasn’t up to snuff. Yes, it has wifi, yes it has multi-touch, yes it has all the “cool” media programs as well. But a couple of things it was lacking that turned us away from the iPhone. One big thing is the exchange integration. We couldn’t schedule meetings with it. We can respond to meeting requests, but we were not able to create new ones. Also, and I stress in OUR area, the actual phone part of the phone was just horrible. It dropped calls that a circa early 2000 cellphone. It was just not a good business phone.

That is why we are looking to RIM. RIM’s business is to cater to the business professional. Apple is catering to the everyday person, so comparing both of these phones is a little invalid. It all depends on what you want to do with it. If you want to do VOIP, or file sharing, or wifi gaming then get the iPhone. But if you want to use your phone as an extension of your office, which is what RIM is looking to do, then check out RIM’s phones.

Also as a response to people stating that RIM will never sell more phones then the iPhone, I agree totally with that statement. Of course they aren’t going to sell more, and I bet if you talked any of the RIM execs, they have never even thought of that as a possiblility. All they are trying to do is make sure that the iPhone stays in the consumer market and not brooch into their business market. And I believe they did that hands down…

    Again, just MY opinion.

    Mike

There will definately be lines at the Verizon stores. Not like the lines for the iphone, not even close, but there will be lines for sure. Just ask any VZW store employee how many calls they are getting about availability.

    Paul says:

    @ Mike:

Completely reasonable and fair assessment. The point I made it was that VZW is trying to say it is an iPhone killer, which is not.

There were some drop call issues that were solved with the 2.1 software update. I almost never drop a call in my area and my iPhone for voice calls is just as good as my VZW BB.

    Stormy says:

I agree. There are a lot of people waiting for this device, whether or not it lives up to expectations there are going to sell a shit load of them on Friday. After Friday when people get their hands on them, continued sales will depend on how well the unit works. There has been so much said on blogs like this one about the touch screen not performing well that for Verizon & RIM’s sake they better have ironed out the issues the older builds had. I don’t think the WiFi is going to make that big a deal though. I know there is a small market segment that will not purchase it without WiFI, but it’s a small number overall. It’s definately a mistake not to have it, but no device has everything, certainly the iphone doesn’t. The iphone while far from perfect, forced everyone else to get more competitive and we are really starting to see that now with the new phones coming out. Hopefully someone will pack just about everything anybody wants into a device and raise the bar even higher.

    Mark says:

No WIFI is not a concern. However in comparing to the IPhone, there are many things the Storm does that the IPhone does not.

True GPS, with voice turn-by-turn directions (this may never happen with the IPhone).

Sending a photo through a text message. Cut and Paste. Removable memory and battery. Camera that can capture video. Landscape qwerty keyboard for text messaging. All of these are things that the IPhone cannot do.

Having a lot of applications that mimic drinking a beer with your IPhone, or ones that allow you to shake the phone to get a recommendation on dinner are not worthy applications, and MANY of the ones in the App store are just that.. Fluff.

As a product, the Storm is MUCH more complete than the IPhone, let’s see how it is executed. I am getting mine on Friday, so I guess we will see.

    Paul says:

    @ Mark:

Most of these features WILL come by way of a free software update or a third party app or both!

iPhone has the same GPS chips most cell phones have. What you mention here is a $10 a month service offered by VZW. The Google map application is quite good on the iPhone now and Apple and third parties are working on a turn by turn app. It has even been demoed by TomTom on an iPhone!

Landscape for text and email is already available via some free and inexpensive apps in the App Store.

Qik, is coming to the iPhone and has been demoed all over the place. It should be in the App Store within weeks if not sooner. This provides video streaming and capture.

There are over 8,700 apps for the iPhone to ZERO for the Storm right now. BB only has about 700 apps. Apple has only been in the market for 15 months and opened their app store only 4 months ago. RIM has had many years and STILL got smoked. Your argument is weak when it comes to apps. There is no way from your statement that you actually tried a lot of the apps for iPhone.

Here are some things the iPhone can do right now that the Storm WILL NEVER do:

Join a local network for active file sharing, play multi=player games over the local network, use the print dialog on your computer to send files directly to your phone, remote control iTunes or your home theatre, use VoIP, and run 3D advanced apps that run native in the phone OS as opposed to a 2D Java app running in a virtual machine.

Not to mention better browsing and much better UI with multi-touch.

How about FTP, WebDAV? iPhone yes, Storm NO.

If this is the best you can do, think again. Most of what you mention can and will be added easily via a software updates that Apple has already provided.

I disagree that the Storm is more complete than the iPhone it lacks WiFi and the 8,700 apps the iPhone has. It has an inferior UI, and inferior browser. No WiFi will seriously hurt some apps that will be available for the Storm, when ever you get around to seeing any.

Ten minutes using some of the advanced apps on the iPhone and then take a look at the crappy BB apps and tell us again they are fluff.

I have some of the same apps from the same developers on both my iPhone and BB and the iPhone version blows away the BB version as well as being cheaper.

By the time the Storm sees any significant apps the iPhone software will be two more revs or more (the 2.2 iPhone software will be out this month) and possibly Apple will have already introduced the next gen iPhone.

Hey filthy mouth, you already showed you had nothing to say or a decent point to make. I already exposed you for being the jerk you are. I guess there is no end to your stupidity. You are the one with the foul toilet mouth. I guess you mommy and daddy has yet to teach you manners.

I already wiped the floor with you.

Repeating my own words to me, that I already repeated only shows you are trying your best to make this a personal attack. NO point ONLY a personal attack. All because I did not say all nice things against “a phone” YOU liked.

SO I do not agree with you, your foul uneducated mouth will not change my mind. I already told you I did NOT care what you thought. So why bother? You sure do not look intelligent doing it!

You say everyone says or thinks. Did you go out and poll them all? Moron, if you read, several readers actually agreed with me!

Maybe it is time to find something else to do with all your free time as I already ripped you a new one and I bet many readers probably laughed their butt off. If I do it again it will only look like I am picking on a retard.

Since you have no facts and have not even tried to challenge my facts in a relevant way, just go take some language, reading, and writing classes and go away.

Being a moron is not a crime so you are safe!
