Samsung Eternity now up on AT&T’s site

For all you guys and gals who have been excited about this phone, for one reason or another, it’s all yours through AT&T’s website. The Samsung SGH-A867, dubbed “Eternity,”  has just hit corporate stores but if you don’t live near one of those then this is the way to go. Whip out your credit card and see $149.99 disappear (after mail-in rebate, of course) for this little cousin of the Behold. What more could you ask for for such a reasonable price? You’re getting 3G / HSDPA, a 3 megapixel camera, AT&T Navigator and MediaFLO on that pretty little touch-screen. If you’ve been looking for an alternative to the Vu, this could be your ticket.

Thanks Praneet!

I’m a bit confused. They dropped winmo and the wifi? So this only looks like the Omnia? It’s actually a featurephone?

Just played with it and the touch screen is one of the best I’ve played with. Not a bad phone!

After 2 years of the Samsung Blackjack which had the WiFi yanked at the last moment by demand of Cingular/AT&T I just do not have much interest in this phone given the STILL very inconsistent 3G results I experience in Southern California both voice and data. Yes the WiFi sucks power too, so they put in a small battery which they will say won’t handle both 3G and WiFi, so they take away WiFi which I feel helps out a lot given the still problematic 3G here, use an unknown O/S and use a smaller screen to save space for the AT&T and Samsung Logos. If it had WiFi and a say 3.8 inch screen (instead of 3.2 inch) I would be way more interested given the OK price.

I was able to preview this phone for the last few weeks, and while it’s no iPhone, the mediaFlo app makes it a worthwhile consideration. Also, Navigator works great on this device too. UI takes a little getting used to, but that’s probably since I was already using an iPhone.

Is this just like the Sprint Instict. My brother in law had that one for less than two weeks, did not like it.
I like everything about the Samsung Eternity, but do not want a copy of the Sprint Instict.

Ive had my Eternity for about 1 week now, while I can say I live in a pretty decent 3g area, my issue is one the tv is very stetchy and my battery drains very quicky with out me even using my phone at all. I can charge it fully, and 6 hours later and sending 6 text messages I’ll have half a battery. Any thoughts?

I have an Eternity and I’m taking it back today. Anthony is right…for some reason the battery drains in one day. Also, there is only 1 easily depressed button to unlock the keypad. Today my phone dialed 911 while it was in my pocket – locked I assumed. No two-button unlock = bad! The TV is okay, spotty sometimes, but not worth the monthly fee. It is a novelty. The touch screen is not user friendly when browsing web pages and there is no other way to scroll. By using your thumb, you will inadvertently follow a link you didn’t want to follow. No back up to your PS like my Blackberry Pearl. Just not an easy phone to you. Lots of WOW…but not a good phone.

Can you get Internet on the Eternity without buying a data plan? I was playing with it, and I did, even though I have no data plan. Everyone is saying it is not Wi-Fi enabled so I am not sure how this can be. Anyone know? I am not a tech savvy person, so please excuse me if any questions seem dumb.

sort of, you have to get a bluetooth router and download some software onto your pc to make it compatible, i think you might be able to to get internet access within the range but you should consult someone of higher knowledge

Note: Good features, but does NOT sync to iSync, and there is currently no patch to make it work with the MacBook’s address book or calendar. HUGE problem: if you’re a Mac user, this is not your phone.
