BlackBerry Curve 8900 emulator now available
RIM is just on fire lately. After a quick 8900 sneak attack from Germany and this morning’s little Storm announcement, what more could you want? Well, more info on the Curve 8900’s US release most likely, but you know what they say about patience being a virtue. In the meantime if you really can’t wait to get your hands on a Curve 8900 to play with, this might tide you over – for about 10 minutes at least. RIM has made the 4.6.1 emulator software available for download from the BlackBerry site for all you developers and serious addicts out there. It’s just like the real thing, right? Yeah, not so much. At least you can get a feel for the 4.6 OS as you anxiously await the real thing…

With the deluge of information on this device in the last two days, there is no way I see it being delayed until Q1 2009.
would this end up on verizon?
sure would like to get a release date before i go out and buy a storm
I can never figure out how to simulate network access with these damn emulators.
I can navigate just fine, but cant get a ’signal’
tmobile better get this device
tmobile will get it, after AT &T. I know for 100% sure that tmobile will not get it till Q1 of 09. AT&T is pushing for december, the units are all boxed and ready to go for AT&T But the factory has not started on Tmobile USA yet.
@BB214
So you have your own ninjas?
@BB214
Hope you are right. I heard at&t has a 60 exclusive to the device which would make for a jan/feb release on t-mobile.
how u know at&t is pushing for a dec release? I believe they are boxed up and ready to go though
@ BB214
I’m just curious, how is it that you can confirm everything on the 8900 100%? I’m not attacking you or saying you’re wrong, but every time a release date pops up for this thing you’re on it claiming that it won’t be here for T-Mobile anytime soon and AT&T has first dibs. Which is the completely opposite of what a lot of others seem to believe…
i dont have BB ninjas, I am a ninja from waterloo. Im not saying anyone has to believe me, im just stating what I see. If you want reliable info on BB products id go to crackberry over BGR
Well the problem with Crackberry is that they are madly in love with the Storm and Bold. They don’t cover the 8900 with as much passion as they do those two units.
Plenty of people on the forums have love for the 8900. All the people in the know on there suggest the same as BB124 – TMob won’t be getting it until 2009 and that At&t have finished testing on the device.
@librapaj:
Yeah, the CB main page stories are pretty worthless 90% of the time — mostly ads or weird contests.
The forums are much better.
That is really annoying that AT&T gets the Curve 8900/Javelin first again! As if the Bold wasn’t enough…
I’m not knocking BB214, I’m just not convinced. I believe that the AT&T Units are boxed and everything but I don’t know, I really feel like T-Mobile is ready for these. We can’t even confirm or deny their testing either…but like I say in each post…we’ll see.
The rumors that were pushed out about tmobile releaseing the curve 8900 before Black Friday were indeed both CORRECT and INCORRECT. Tmobile GERMANY will be receiving their 8900’s in time for Black Friday while Tmobile USA will wait till Q1, end of January at the earliest. The leaks were mistaken. the only Tmobile units that have been given the go ahead and are ready to ship out are the units for Germany, which can be distinguished by the QWERTZ keyboard vs. the QWERTY keyboard. Like I said AT&T units for the US are ready to go and they’re pushing for December.
BTW I have no stake in the US Carrier debate. im Canadian LOL. I can tell you this, most of the employees use the curve 8900 over the Bold because they have WIFI speeds at the office anyways and the curve 8900 is much smaller and more convenient
@ Straylight
Download the email and mds simulators, and run the mds simulator and you will be able to use the browser and emulate data transfer.
Was damn convinced this was coming out on Tmo US before AT&T over the summer.
There better be a real clock on them getting it 60 days later & not suffering through another “eeeek! A BB!” incident on deathstar to only delay Tmo.
Also was led to believe that AT&T was hardline 3G on (smart)devices or did they change that upon realizing how much their netwk sucks.
OK BB214. I believe you, about the debate but I want to know about Canada release. What about Rogers ???
Rogers will receive the 8900 before years end
@bb214:
do you know anything about its release on verizon? or does anyone for that matter?
