AT&T Eternity live and in the flesh

Sure, the timing might be a little delayed according to the internal AT&T email we showed you last month, but sure enough the Samsung A867 aka Eternity is alive and well. Thanks to one of our trusty ninjas, we’ve got a bunch of live photos for you to soak in along with all the info you need to decide whether or not this puppy will make it to your holiday shopping list. First off, we already know the price is set at $99 after a $50 mail-in rebate thanks to the email linked above. We also know that the target release date was November 4th, which of course has passed. Our ninja gave word that AT&T stores have the green light to start selling the Eternity as soon as shipments come in, which should be very soon. As far as spec highlights are concerned, you’re looking at 3G, MediaFLO for some full screen TV love, GPS nav via AT&T Navigator, and a 3 megapixel camera as opposed to the rumored 5 megapixel shooter. The Eternity also comes packing the TouchWiz UI we know and love, and the display is nice and crisp. There’s even a great little auto-rotation feature for messaging that presents you with a nice big full screen QWERTY. You listening, Cupertino? If you’re in the market for a multimedia-crunching touchscreen handset on the cheap, look no further. Hit the jump for more shots including the retails packaging and a nice little side-by-side with the iPhone.

Your Ninja forgot to block out the IMEI. I think someone is in trouble, seeing that they are probably going to get the blame for all the leaked info from ATT.
Another cheap iPhone knockoff!!! Huh… Korea get a clue and INNOVATE!!! Not emulate!!!!
I’m confused… is this the Omnia or is it something different? Does this have WM 6.1?
This is not an iPhone knock-off. There’s only so many ways you can design a touch-screen phone, and Apple just happened to be the first to create a mass-market entry in the US. (I’m not saying they were the first overall, because they weren’t. I’m just saying that they were the first to really prove that being touchscreen only was not a disadvantage for everyday users, and that they could be easy to use)
Hell, it doesn’t even compete with the iPhone. (that would be the Omnia) This is a plain-ole’ dumb-phone. It competes with the likes of the LG Dare, Instinct, , Vu, Delve, and whatever that Tmobile version is.
this has nothing to do with samsung but at&t, I am sick and tired of them trying a make to much money off customers. This phone is just like the pixon which has 8mpx camera, and how the heck did the winmo vers. get to go to verizon, just because they want to keep selling the useless iphone, which as to stereo bluetooth, no copy and paste, no flash for flash websites, and alot more that make it suck bad. Please can someone or samsung give me the features of this phone and combine it with the features of the epix and with my eyes closed it would be bought in a jiffy.
in fact there is a winmo lg touchscreen coming out i heard and also the xperia 1, so why would at&t test a good phone and decide not to do so, or do they have something up their sleeves that would blow us away next year
Even though this phone is technically “released” the imei should be blacked out. att corporate has been coming down pretty hard internal info being linked and while this isn’t really a leak it does give those that are watching a better idea of who might be doing the linking.
Do us a favor BGR and protect those that provide you with info (even if they don’t seem to care);)
All these manufactures have great devices, but at the end it all comes down to Software, there’s tons of phones out there with way better integrated hardware than the iPhone, but when it comes to software iPhone is King, sure it still lacks copy and paste and a bunch of simple features stuff but still it is a great device. Instead of relaying on microsoft & releasing a new device every 2 to 3 weeks these companies should focus more and software i think, just think about it, how cool would it be if you could run the iphone OS X on a HTC Touch HD. Even Microsoft is writting Apps for the iPhone which will make it even a better device
Hahaha you fanboys are clowns. Every single phone that’s all touch screen is an iPhone knockoff now, eh? I guess the HTC Touch was an iPhone knockoff as well, even though they released around the same time. HTC surely scrambled to throw together something that resembled the iPhone and did everything in a month or so. Omnia, Touch HD, Vu? All imitating iPhones, why don’t you get your own style instead of stealing Apples patented all touch screen design. Oh that’s right… Apple isn’t god, and they didn’t invent the touch screen, sorry.

The entirely great thing about the Touch HD is that it’s a phone with a screen nicer and bigger than the iPhone but without the restriction of OSX. I’ve seen iPhones running WinMo, but never OSX on an HTC device. Funny how that works, huh? The ONE THING iPhone has over all other phones except the G1 is a capacitive touch screen. Nothing else about it is state of the art or revolutionary.
I completely agree with Black. Following the logic that every full touchscreen phone is a knockoff of the iPhone, one could also make the argument that every slider is a knockoff of the Kyocera Slider, or that every flip phone is a knockoff of the first mainstream flip phone. No one would ever make either of those claims because they are both clearly ridiculous. People NEED to realize that at this point, full touchscreen is just another form factor, along with candybar, flip, slider, etc. It kills me that every single touchscreen phone released (and even some non-touch) these days is compared to the iPhone, regardless of what it is or what audience it’s aimed at. If it doesn’t have multitouch for two pinch zooming like the iPhone, it’s not good enough, if the browser isn’t on par with mobile Safari, it’s unacceptable, if the OS is not as easy to use (to point of blandness IMHO) as OSX, it’s absolutely unusable. Now does that even sound right? No. Obviously I’m exaggerating but my point still stands. At some point we need to realize that while the iPhone is without a doubt a great device (and arguably revolutionary, depending on who you talk to), it is not the be all, end all of the mobile industry and it should not be viewed as such.

Uh this is a smart phone peeps….and from what i have seen it can do a lot the iphone can not, like oh i dunno get picture messages, and take videos?
I know everyone seems to like the iphone but it really isn’t all that impressive compared to other phones in the market. I doesn’t send mms, doesn’t support flash, only has a 2.0meg camera without flash or video recorder, no copy paste and no physical keyboard no removable battery and no external memory. It’s all in the marketing, and Apple knows how to sell it. Apples invention of the ipod changed the music and radio industries forever, pod casting is now a word in the english dictionary. I am sorry but the iphone is no ipod.
Oh Dam, wait a minute it is an ipod but thats not my point. Lol My point is that the iphone is not nearly as revolutionary as the ipod was and it is riding on the ipods success. Google is also is a world changing company they changed the internet and online marketing world forever. Only time will tell if android will beat out apple when it comes to mobile phones. They are still very new and have already have a strong following and have made several improvements over the Apples current iphone release.
so this is basically the tmobile behold but with a 3mp camera instead of 5?
Its a Sprint Instinct in a diffrent form and diffrent netowrk. They really worked hard to create this phone NOT.. Just a Cheap way to reuse with out thinking.
iPhone OSX on the HTC Touch HD??
(disclosure, I own an iPod Touch)
No man, IMHO Android would be the
OS of choice for the Touch HD.
I know the iPhone is the top of the heap
but competition is getting up to speed
quickly, which in the long run benefits
all of us who are interested in these things
and the evolution of handheld computing.

Agreed!!
That AT&T employee is a dumb@ss for sacrificing his job just so he could show pictures of a released phone on your site. At least the job market is good these days…
We got our shipments in Monday on these puppies, and weren’t stupid enough to leak them. We can still read the BARCODE you know.
Any way great great little phone. I know i tore the FUZE apart but this feels real nice. very nice feel and finish to this one. Touch screen is very very responsive and the haptic feedback is the best yet on any phone i’ve used, literally the response is right under your finger(very cool). But the BEST thing is the keyboard. For me at least (and I have a 3G) iphone…when you hold this in your hand you can do some fast ass typing on the virtual keyboard…it’s perfect…i love my iphone but there is something about typing on this virtual keyboard that feels so much better. The TV reception was as good as the VU and the reception was top notch. Also the phone has a lot of nice little tweaks and the UI is much much cleaner then the VUs. I’m really really thinking of picking this up as one of my disposable phones. Im not going to say this is an iphone killer, because ATT won’t let that happen… the iphone is the lord their god and they are happy as a virgin boys first time but if you are a savvy shopper with only 150 bucks in your pocket i would not hesitate to pick this up.
Not sure what all this dumb ass talk is about. The phone is sellable and in at&t’s inventory. How would anyone get in trouble for taking pictures of it?
does this version have winmo or not?
It does NOT run winomo.
So the bold training not so well. Most or the reps worked with windows mobile so for most of the day we did basic blackberry training. But info for bold it will do video messaging. 128mb of on board memory for phone. But what is interesting is that the bold and storm are same except one touch and the bold full keyboard. The messager app is nice. It has a lot of up grades and animations for people that like that. But still I don’t think these to new blackberrys being realesed meet usual tough standards. Even the reps bolds back was already broken. So I will stick with my curve til something a little more sturdy is released or the fix problems. Itunes is copatible with mediasynce that is built in or for earlier models is downloadable. Does not support video yet though. Being able to receive a call while in browser is very nice. And viewing emails are upgraded to were they are shown as is on a desktop. A new accesory has been released for the bold. Its a bluetooth transmitter the if ur home stereo has bluetooth it syncs with ur phone media. It works well demoed it in head mans office yesterday. Sorry but the bold training was not to benifitial.
