I like it this way. I like to have the option of buying and holding onto a slightly more exclusive device. Yeah, the E71 is easily obtainable and is not particularly expensive but it is still not something that everyone and their 10 year old will be walking around with, tearing up, and bad mouthing because they don’t know how to use the device (i.e. BlackBerry Curve…nothing wrong with the phone but so many people who should barely be allowed to feed themselves are using it and wondering why they can’t figure it out…pssssst, you have to charge it buddy! )

It is too bad that devices like this are not being picked up by T-Mobile yet…

Seriously though, i’m really not sure what’s the deal with this e63 phone. From what i know, the e71 is a wildly popular phone both in the US and in europe. And word around the camp fire is, there is an Australian model and it’s popular there too.

But, there is already a US version. I have the US version and it’s fantastic. Aside from the really crappy camera (only in low light conditions), the phone is fantastic.

So, i’m not 100% sure why the e63 is coming out aside from the fact that the e71 may be too expensive for the general public that get their phones through providers. So for those who always wanted the e71 but didn’t want to pay 400+ dollars, they’re going to bring the e63. Basically an affordable e71. Also i think nokia is trying to milk the cash cow with this phone cause the sale numbers have been fairly good on a phone that has no major US distributor. On top of that, the word of mouth has been very positive so i think it’s inevitable for an e71 type phone to come to the USofA. I always thought is WAS going to be the e71. Wierd for a discount version to come out. Do people really have no money for phones anymore? Is it really that bad out there?…lol

@Zephxiii Seems it does have 3G, confirmed by one trialist. 3.5mm jack is the only note of positive. Plastic casing and downgraded 2MP camera.

i will state the obvious as the BG doesn’t seem to know that the E63 is the equivalent of what the E62 was to the E71. An american, dumbed down cheaper version.

Sounds like my kinda phone! Just enough for texting, making calls and surfing the web on EDGE if need be.
I love the Symbian OS and would go back to a Nokia in an instant (I went from a N95 to the new BB Bold). My only wish is that this bad boy have a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The internal XML apparently lists 3G in the E63, but regardless of final specs, th2 E63 is a low-end downgrade of the E71.

So does it really not have 3g????
