Love the iphone but get really frustrated that I cannot do a simple think as forwarding an SMS, WHY ???? WHY ??? does Apple care at all about their customers ( except as a money machine of course …)

Hi, I have fat fingers and I find typing in potrait mode is very fast. I can achieve speeds typing that I never dreamed possible with the physical keyboards on my HTC or Blackberry. Yes I press the odd wrong key now and then but the auto correct (which is obviously some kind of sorcery or witchcraft to be that good) sorts that out.

I have heard many people complain that they find the auto correct feature a problem. Are these people the same ones who complained about predicitive text, I’m sorry but you have to be able to spell properly to use these features.

Copy and Paste is a must as is the ability to forward SMS. I don’t have much use for MMS but what the hell others do and it won’t eat nor drink on my phone so let those who want it have it I say.

I used the Blackberry storm the other day and it’s UI is no where near as good as the iphones, I can’t explain it but it’s not anywhere near as user friendly. An example, you touch something to select it and then you have to hold your finger on it to execute the function if you get me (prob not, have a go you’ll see what I mean).

The touch keyboard was nice but nowhere near the experience of using a real keyboard like I’ve been reading it’s supposed to be on some sites.

At the end of the day, I bought my iphone when the software version was 1.1, I loved it then and I love it now. I’m no apple fanboy, I dont care who makes it, I’d love it just as much if it were made by fisher price. It’s a great phone, it may have its faults and glitches but they are being rectified slowly. Every other phone I have owned has had horrendous faults and missing features, not one of those ever had software updates and if they did they weren’t a usb cable and a couple of clicks of the mouse away.

Uhh its actually a lot faster typing in portrait mode. I know ppl with fat fingers will strongly disagree, but i’ve become rly good at txting in portrait and my speed rivals my friends with qwerty physical keyboards.

copy and paste would be useful; in the last 2 months there may have been 4 or 5 times i needed that ability. it sucks when its not there.

one of these times was in an attempt to copy/paste a link into the address bar, in an attempt to trick a megavideo flash video into playing through the integrated youtube player.

it would seem to me like copy/pasting would allow for exploiting in certain cases; something apple/at&t does not want to let happen. At&t wants to limit bandwidth usage obviously, and Apple wants to keep in control of its product.

copy/pasting may also ‘complicate’ the user interface. steve jobs hates complicated stuff it seems. ie: 2 button mice.

somethings i want to see in the new update:

-a ‘keyboard’ lag fix would be nice
-a less crashy browser also
-a less crashy iphone
-video capture would be nice.
-an improved camera app
-improved battery life is always welcomed
-the ability to tether to my laptop = a must
(question, why is apple at&t’s bi**h?)

So… interesting iPhone 3G problem… The past 3 days, my battery had read near full. So I haven’t charged it. It died today and I’ve had it sitting on the charger for the past 2 hours and the battery logo on the screen still shows red and no green yet. Could this be a bad sign?

Agreed, I just think it is amazing that the VZW BB zelaots here think it is a deal breaker, when no WiFi isn’t. Cut-copy-paste will be added sooner rather than later with a simple software update, WiFi isn’t.

Also ignoring the over 8,000 plus apps already available that add some of these missing features. It is ridiculous that some people are trying to degrade I device they never touched.

Landscape keyboard is available in Safari and is also available for sending and replying to mail with quite a few free apps in the App Store. I am pretty sure that it will be native soon.

Lets remember the iPhone is only 16 months old and the App Store is only 4 months old. RIM has had years as has MS and Apple has created quite a compelling product that beat them both in sales this quarter. So lets give them the credit they deserve.

understood but seriously, what the he’ll are they waiting for. Cut/paste is such a simple feature and saying it’s not a high priority is only being said by iphone users who have just excepted the fact that it doesn’t have it but you all have been in a situation where you wished had it. I have an itouch and only use it when I have wifi at home and there have been many times when I wished I had copy/paste. You know apple is just waiting to release it when they update the phone and can give existing users, especially 2g users, multiple reasons to get the new one. Reasons would be copy/paste, forwarding texts, mms, video capture, and landscape keyboard in any app and don’t make rant about the lack of landscape, geez!

To all the iPhone bashes out there.

Now 8,165 iPhone Apps in only 4 months and still adding over 100 apps a week. RIM has less than 700 apps in all those years, none for the Storm! WiFi and the best UI on any mobile device.

Cut-Copy-Paste for most iPhone owners is not a big propriety and it actually already exists in several apps available in the App Store. It will likely be added however in a free software update.

Since 2.2 is not out yet we have no idea except for guessing on what is in it.

Should be obvious of course, but perhaps the person working on the App Store is ready for 2.2, while the person working on copy and paste needs to put a bit more work into it? It isn’t like throwing more people on a project magically makes it go faster. In fact, it makes the project go slower.

Of course Apple will NOT release copy and paste, or a keyboard fix at this time. Those “advanced” features will only be on the iPhone 4 .. or maybe iPhone Pro, or iPhone business.

It’s a ipod, and app distribution system for Apple to collect MORE money, but it’s not a business phone. I wonder if some of the fanboys have ever been to an Airport, it’s a SEA of Blackberry phones and one or two iPhones… mostly bitching that they can’t get a signal.

for those wanting to forward sms:

jailbreak & install bitesms. apple leave u no choice. 2.2 is not going to have it if the previews are accurate

it has sms forwarding, contact details sending, gps location sending and even individual sms deletion.
all while retaining the apple look & feel.
apple’s excuse that too much feature is going to clutter the interface is a load of bull.

it appears that I’m not left alone in the lone world of not being able to forward an SMS message. Hey BG, is there anyway for us iPhone owners to voice our opinions to apple? Maybe in away that they might acually be heard? Honestly, first street view for google maps and now the app store gets updated (for 2.2). Those, they way they are, work fine. But a over a year and no copy/paste, MMS or even SMS forwarding (also, nice point jp about the contact information) is getting to be rediculous!

Thanks, Scott, I forgot to mention that. At least if we can’t get copy/paste how about forwarding sms??? Or the crazy ingenious idea of being able to sms contact info to someone else. (how maddening is it when you get an mms and it shows you the web address and msg id and password as a work abound and you can’t even cut and paste that into the web!? I have to write it on a piece of paper first then go there. rant rant)
