Verizon Wireless Blackberry Storm to retail for $219 with a 2 year contract
The Blackberry Storm hit the Verizon Wireless staging testman website with pricing and details! It’s coming in about where we expected – $219 with a 2 year contract, $289 with a 1 year contract and whopping $519 for full retail. Remember, this is just the staging site so it’s entirely possible that things will change. In fact, the price does not include any rebates or New Every Two discounts so the final price out the door on the launch date will surely be lower. Sweet! Unfortunately, the page does not contain a release date but we expect a formal announcement from Verizon very soon now that it’s up on the test site. Check out the read link to see for yourself (enter 85001 as your zip) and hit the jump for some more screen shots showing the 1-year and full retail pricing.
Thanks, Matrix 2004!

People have been posting on forums about how the specs and price are from the 8830 and they may still be updating the specs and price. We’ll have to wait and see.
As much as I would like to, I am not going to pay $219 (odd price) and then the monthly increase to my bill. I just feel like I am getting screwed.
Ugh…I was really hoping for $99.00
Wonderful. I woke up in a really good mood, now I find that this is selling for $219 off the bat, and the Bold is going for $399 (before rebate). It’s like warm ice cream…
219 is not bad at all. $99, are you kidding? got get a pearl or curve then
This is just nitpicking, but why didn’t Verizon just forgo the extra $20 and market a $199 price point instead?
It’s primary competitor, the iPhone, is sold at $199. Still, $219 is still a ton cheaper than that rediculous price AT&T is charging for the Bold.
A touchscreen Storm is way more desirable than a traditional keyboard Bold to me, and I prefer QWERTY phones.
I can’t wait to see this quarter’s sales figures in a few months to see how well both handsets performed. I’m putting my money (not literraly) on the Storm.
still have a few days of the scavenger hunt and the windbox to play in to try and win a free one.
Everyone think about this… If you’re going in as an upgrade (new every two) you get a hundred dollars off which requires you to extend your contract. The storm would only be 119. I think that is fantastic pricing!
Please note that the description on the web site mention the 8830 not the 9530 and the price is EXACTLY the price of the 8830. So I am not sure that this is the final pricing !
ATTENTION ALL:
The price is clearly still just a placeholder and not the price that the phone will actually be. Here’s why:
Specs specs and, specs.
Most of the specs are still leftover from the 8830 World Edition. For example: “64MB Flash Memory/32MB RAM” and the most obvious, and first on the right hand column: The BlackBerry 8830 works with the BlackBerry Enterprise Solution to provide functionality such as single mailbox integration, remote address book look–up and more.
In one further example: “The BlackBerry 8830 can integrate up to 10 business and/or personal email accounts with the BlackBerry Internet Solution. Set–up is simple, and can be done right from the device”
This is all taken directly from the website.

I dont think $220 is that bad but they should’ve just gotten rid of the $20. I really want to see what BG has to say when the phone goes on sale this month instead of the late December/early ‘09 he mentioned last time. They’re having the private sale from the 17th-21st so the actual release date should be right behind.
@ Dave I’m in the same boat…what locales have to visited so we can just exchange codes because this who hunt it becoming tedius since it’s cold now lol.
why are you guys complaining? all this talk about how its an iphone competitor, and its right there in the same ballpark price-wise, and all you do is complain. 219 is MORE than worth it for a brand new, state of the art blackberry. Stop complaining. Hefa and drbyers, nobody really cares that you arent gonna get one now, bc most of us will. Its a great price. Where else can you go and get a brand new smartphone for around 200 bucks? stop being so cheap.
^^^17th-21st of this month.
You guys are all assclowns. Verizon usually has a $70 or $100 rebate with their smartphones. So instead of paying $219.99, you would be paying $149.99 or maybe even $119.99 ( which I highly doubt )…
I felt like driving up to NYC to play the game. It’s only a little over a hour, but uggggh I work weekdays. Why can’t they have it when I’m in the city for Paul van dyk? Either way cant wait to get the storm when it comes out =)
This is madness, I got excited when I saw the pricing, but now I am just confused now that there is placeholder info for the 8830.
RAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGEEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
(do want)
I’ll say it again, No WiFi No deal, it’s a really nice phone to bad verizon had to F*ck it up. You go outside the US with this phone and you better pray you don’t accidently turn it on and it’s start pulling emails on a international Roaming carrier, so i’ll say that the blackberry Bold & the iPhone is a better deal, why i say that? Well about 2 month ago i when on vacation to cancun, data roaming charges are crazy down there, well as soon as i got of the plane the iPhone turn data roaming off by itself and everytime i was near or close to my Hotel it pull all my emails and it didn’t cost me a single penny. Verizon Please Stop F*cking your customers
too bad Verizon is not outside the US Keymaker…yes Wifi would be nice but how many of the 80 million costumers they have go outside the US?? OK then.
Even though the price will probably change before the website is official. I have noticed Verizon has had a lot of $70 mail in rebates in my area (DC). so that would make it $150 after the rebate. Not a sermon just a thought…
The most expensive carrier does it again while users rejoice for the holiday season! Vodafone will be giving these away, but VZW wants more than an iPhone. You thought Apple was expensive!
Storm $220 with NO WiFi, no games, no apps! iPhone should continue to trounce VZW and RIM this holiday season. Perhaps next year! HAHA
@ keymaker:
Ignore the ranting of likeabite. He attacks anyone that points out ANY of VZW and RIMs flaws!
If at least you had WiFi you could have used a hotspot to make VoIP calls and use data. Probably for free! But he defends the most expensive carrier all over this website. All he does is hang out on here and attack all that point out how VZW screws its customers with high prices and neutered devices.
Many of us on here agree with you!
@likeabite:
You never stop with your nonsense. Keymaker points out an obvious shortcoming and you attack like a guard dog. Plenty of VZW customers go outside the country, we all do not stay in our mom’s basement all day!
WiFi is NOT just for traveling! Why do you feel compelled to attack every person that says anything that points out a flaw with your precious VZW and RIM? Drinking the kool-aide?
Is it your position that VZW don’t travel? Well then all that travel, should go to another carrier then!
Now that we see just how expensive the Storm will be on VZW the iPhone will easily outsell it as it is cheaper and has more features!
@likeabite:
What the hell are you the great defender of overpricing or something? Why don’t you lend us the money so when we get ripped off we do not feel so bad? How long have you worked for Verizon? Apparently, they do not let you travel or use free hotspots!
@Likeabite
The last time I said a release date prediction, I said very late November, first week of December. I never said ‘09, and if I did, that might have been like a year ago when I broke the news on the Storm/Thunder/Storm.

Paul just doesn’t learn…the comment had nothing to do with you and yet you had to jump in like a retarted schoolboy who never left the short bus. I didn’t attack Keymaker…he said if you go outside the US and out of the VZW costumers only about 1% travel outside the US on the regular…which you wouldn’t know since you’re not a VWZ costumer stupid. And again, i said Wifi would be nice…not that it’s not needed like some people have been saying. And AGAIN what the hell does this post have to do with the iphone that you come here with your stupidity? Go back into hiding like you did on the last post moron.
Yes, it does suck that there is no wifi, but wifi is relatively new. we were fine without it before and now with even faster browsing speeds, we will be fine with it now.
As for the price, as someone pointed out, it’s an odd price and they should just market it at 199. I believe they will give the $70 discount they do with the other blackberrys making it $149.99 which is a more common price.
And someone said that the storm doesn’t have games or apps? Not preloaded… but neither does the iphone. And brickbreaker IS on the phone. There are thousands of apps and games for all blackberrys
I am a VZW customer. I have never had a problem using my phone outside of the country. And if you recall when the iphone first came out people were being hit with high bills, and still are. All carriers have a downside, not one has the ultimate package. At&t has sucky service. And spare me with pricing b/c to have a iphone you pay the extra for the service. I am not attacking any carrier or any customer I am just saying don’t make it one-sided like verizon is screwing the customer b/c you can/do get screwed at the other carriers as well. So if you don’t want the Storm hell don’t get it or if you don’t like verizon don’t use the service but don’t sit on the high horse like what you have is where its at. It works for you keep it but don’t talk about things you have no knowledge about.
Still over priced! Psh Vodafone has it free and their contracts are still cheaper than Verizons ;_;
{unless you get international roaming from the beaches in Eastbourne}
