BlackBerry Storm hitting Verizon on November 24th, pre-launch on 20th?

We just got our hands on this document detailing the latest release dates for the Storm on Verizon. Just be careful, we have all learned that target launch dates come and go quicker than a Sprint subscriber. With that said, this information comes directly from a good source of ours, so we’d wager on this being pretty accurate. Here’s what we’ve learned:

  • 123 corporate Verizon stores will be “pre-launching” the device on November 20th. That means that the 123 stores will have Storms in stock to demo for customers and to pre-order the device for them. This is only for high-end VZW customers, and people that got the mailing that went out. The general public, as we’re informed, can not just “mosey on down.”
  • November 24th (and November 25th?) is the general availability date which includes corporate sales, telesales, and indirect dealers.

The confirmed pricing for the BlackBerry Storm is indeed dude, we’ve been saying this foreverz around $199.99 after MIR with a two-year agreement. We were also told that corporate store inventory will be full, full, and full of Storms. Apparently, our tipster tells us that the latest build of the unit is incredibly stable, and touch input is very much improved. So, there ya go! Let’s hope this pans out… Verizon really needs to make a Thanksgiving launch. Larger size shot is after the jump.

Thanks, NotHTCKid!

    This thing is guaranteed to sell like crazy at this price point. I wonder, will any business users be gunnin’ for this or will they go with the Bold because of it’s hardware keypad.

    I am probably the third person to ask this here: does anyone know when it will be available for those who pre-ordered it on Best Buy?

    Beddaman, many VZW enployees ans even store managers have been guessing at that date for a while. Last month they were told that they would probably be getting them around the 15th-17th but this document should show you that it’s not going to be available until the 24th. A couple more day’s won’t kill us.

    @Jose

    Obviously after or same time as Verizon, buddy. Our ninja told us that Best Buy was brought and that VZW/RIM said they would be getting stock but “weren’t the biggest priority.”

    Jim,

    Buddy, I am disappointed too that it will not be out this weekend. BUT BG has been doing his thing so long, I tend to trust him. We will just have to wait another week. The withdrawal is horrible I KNOW but we WILL have to wait. ….sigh

    CanisMinor: I’m not a BGR poster, but this Blackberry is going to suck. it’s not the iPhone’s equal for consumers, and while business customers may eventually prefer this device to the iPhone, this phone was made to broaden RIM’s consumer appeal, not win over corporate clients who are already drinking the RIM Kool-Aid. I can’t wait to hear what the excuses will be when the RIM ‘tards here realize that while RIM is the preferred device for corporate clients, Apple is preferred among consumers, and moving the BB OS onto a non multi-touch clickable screen is not the answer. In fact, I’m of the beliefthat the iPhone’s nearly 7 million units sold will not be equaled by this device, not just over the first quarter, but over its first three quarters.

    On the upside, the Storm will outsell the Instinct, but outperforming that gutterball is far from impressive. On the contrary, it is actually kinda sad.

    I still think it is only for small business customers. I don’t quite get all of the “small business customer” references in the info and further don’t get why not just say the device will be available to all on such and such a date?????

    I think it is just another broad-based dog and pony show for corporate folk.

    Wow, someone really gets offended about competition for the iPhone, but he’s right on at least one bitter count: this phone was designed to expand Blackberry’s appeal across normal users, not replace the iPhone.
    Truth is, other than the fact they are both phones and operated by touch interfaces they serve completely different purposes.
    On a wishlist note, the Storm would have been a lot cooler if it did the VZW Mobile TV and WiFi… maybe next time.

    @DMZ6

    The Storm is being billed as the iPhone for business customers my RIM & VZW. Therefore it should come as no surprise to see this group as their initial target. iPhone is for Consumers, Storm is for Business ProSumers. VZW doesn’t really have a separate channel that releases things exclusively for business. They tend to release it all at once & target their branding & marketing. But everyone has a seat at the table, some customers just pay a little more to get there.

    This release date is great news although I wish it was coming out on the 20th the latest.

    @ Stormy I’d hope this post would be drama free but I see you haven’t learned anything from history. Progress sir, not recession like the state our country is in.

    @ Perspective That’s like saying the iphone should not have MobileME and push/corporate e-mail because it is for consumers. Makes no sense…companies go into a lot of uncharted territory to improve profits and maybe find a winner. That’s what happened with Apple and the ipod as well as iphone in case you forgot.

    @ Mangenius lmao that was mad funny!

    The One says:

    @ Perspective,

    You’ve clearly expressed your hatred for the Storm, but you only did it by saying “it’s gonna suck”. You didn’t say what’s gonna suck about it. You said it won’t sell as many units as the Iphone. Maybe it will, maybe it won’t. But let’s not kid ourselves here. The Iphone is a extremely popular device with a beautiful interface and wondeful touch screen, and best in class web browser, but it lacks many basic things.

    The Storm lacks wifi, and while I would prefer the option to have wifi, than to not have the option….wifi isn’t available in many areas, and when it is available, many times it’s not free, plus it drains the battery. But, besides that one feature, the Storm does everything I want. But let’s look at the Iphone…..no stereo bluetooth, no mms, no copy n paste, no removable/upgradeable memory, no gps with voice activated turn by turn directions. That’s too many features that’s missing for me to even consider this as a phone. And when will tethering be allowed? The Iphone is the biggest cell phone success of all time, but, c’mon, let’s be honest, and really put things in “perspective”.
