MGM and YouTube team up to deliver full-length programming
YouTube has announced a partnership with MGM today that will bring new full-length content to YouTube. Previously, YouTube has inked deals for full length content with Time Warner’s HBO, CBS’s Showtime and CBS’s archived television shows that include “Star Trek,” “Young and the Restless” and “Beverly Hills 90210.” This new partnership will initially bring two new channels to YouTube. One channel will show full length episodes of “American Gladiator” while the other channel will feature full-length action films like “Bulletproof Monk” and “The Magnificent Seven”. Both channels will be ad supported with advertisements running alongside the videos. Though we doubt programming content like “American Gladiators” will have Hulu shaking in its boots, it is another step forward in the online video streaming arena which is definitely a good thing.

that’s graet
Will it be viewable on iPod touch and iPhone?
Great news…hopefully their lift on the length-cap can be implemented for everyone sooner rather than later.
I wonder how much are these channels going to cost? Ad’s running along side?? Sounds like a new wave of ($$$TV$$$). HD?
As long as YouTube stays free and they support HD files (not High Quality… there is a big difference between HD videos and High Quality YouTube videos.) with little increase in buffering time, then I would say that Hulu has a contender on their hands for their niche market. I currently love Hulu and will continue to use it as my premier video streaming site for television episodes and full-length movies. Hopefully, YouTube will best them and create more competition in this market.
