AT&T Quickfire emerges a few days early
“Big city life” has its ups and downs. Among the upside elements are convenience, diversity, variety and plenty to do after the sun goes down. On the downside, AT&T stores generally listen to HQ. November 11th release date be damned, at least one AT&T store in rural America has reportedly decided to stick it to the man and begin selling the Quickfire a bit early. The tipster hasn’t revealed the location of the rouge shop so we can’t tell you where it’s being sold, but we can at least confirm that the pricing we first reported last month is accurate. $100 after MIR with a 2-year contract and you’re out the door with this bad boy. So what do you think – should T-Mobile’s Sidekick start getting nervous?

if there is anyone in orange county that really wants it, there is a store in the mainplace mall in santa ana that is selling in, i saw it myself, the acutal phone in the box and everything, i thought it was already out… if you want to google it, its mobile magic in santa ana…
oh and i only saw the silver and orange color, not sure if they have the silver and black one…

I doubt you speak for all 74 million of their customers. May not appeal to you but in actuality only a few millimeters difference in size compared to the RAZR and near identical to the latest Sidekick in weight and size.
Glad that my choices in phones are not dictated by some of the folks who leave comments around here.
I played around with a demo at the AT&T store in Georgetown Texas, yesterday. I don’t remember how much it costs, because I wasn’t really interested in buying it. I assume they have them in stock and ready to sell, since they had a working demo unit.
dissapointed there is no on-screen keyboard…i’m not always able to open up the keyboard depending on where i am.
I’m heard from more stores that they are in stock and ready to order. But the rebate forms are not in as of yet. Thanks for listening. I’m headed to corp.on tuesday for bold training and info. Putting the size aside I think its way more “grownup” looking than the Sidekick. I would buy that over the Sidekick.
size wize… this thing isn/t that much bigger than the touch pro. few mm’s wider and thicker. so if you can justify the size of the fuze, but don’t need all the extra crap (read WinMo) then this could be a suitable replacement.
It’s actually alot smaller than i expected it to be.
It’s hard to really get the idea of the size of this phone in pics. In person is MUCH smaller than the sidekick & it does have a very nice keyboard. It’s not an “iphone killer” or anything special but it’s a great option for those looking for a good texting phone w/ a touch screen. It’s pretty responsive, much easer than the Vu

The home screen seems pretty ugly to me.
Our store has been selling them for the last 2 days. We sold out and started with a dozen of them. They are medium sized but feel great in your hand thanks to the curved back. Battery life is great. Sidekick should definitely be worried.
I bought the AT&T Quickfire today so its definitely being sold in some places. And I’ve got my rebate form too. The store I go to had everything there and ready for sale. I got the last one, I think our store got 4 or 5 of them in.
I actually went there to buy the matrix (I’ve had the LG Shine since July of this year and have hated it since day 1)…so when I was playing around with the matrix, it just didn’t seem like what I wanted and that’s when our rep brought out the Quickfire. I was sold almost instantly. I’m liking it so far. If you wanna know anything specific about it, I’ve got it right here. Just ask…
It’s a not bad looking phone. However (and I may get flamed for this comment) the big mistake is putting a totally proprietary OS. This could’ve been at&t’s answer to T-Mob’s G1…Android. Otherwise it doesn’t look like this phone will get much software support besides what’s on it already.
I had a question GotMine. How does the screen behave when you get a call? Is there a proximity sensor that locks the screen up when you bring the phone near your ear..or is the screen still active and there might be the possibility of selecting s’thing on the screen unknowingly.
2ndly, does it have a microSD card slot and does it come with a 3.5mm headphone jack?

Back on topic: I think the Sidekick sells itself on its name more than anything. It has a niche following.
I don’t care for the Sidekick and have no plans on picking up the Quickfire, but like any other phone someone somewhere will buy it.
It does take the microDS. I haven’t had any problems while on a call so the screen must lock up in some way. I never really paid much attention but had no problems with accidently starting something else while on a call. The charger slot doubles as the headphone jack.
I also want to add that the sound while on a call is awesome. I’m very pleased with that. The alarms and music are loud as well. Good volume, all around.
the whole web is saying that the at&t quickfire is out in one small town. It is actually out in the mall of americas at&t store in minnesota.i would just like to say that and say that it is an amazing phone.
I love this phone. Thanks BGR. I heard that the att stores could sell them as soon as they got em so i called 2day (saturday) and they had em in stock. the phone is great, touchscreen with slide out keyboard. Great if u want a touch screen but not a “touch” keyboard. Exactly the phone i wuz lookin 4
got this today. its pretty mega-awesome; the only thing i don’t like about it is that there is no headphone jack
and its definitely not a super huge phone.
