Live pics of the AT&T Quickfire

Well what do we have here? Live shots of AT&T’s upcoming answer to the T-Mobile Sidekick just came in courtesy of one of our ninjas and we thought we might as well share ‘em with you. We’ve all known the Quickfire has been in the pipeline for a while and last month we dropped the very reasonable official price point of $100 after MIR. For a 3G messaging machine with a sliding touchscreen, full QWERTY keyboard, a music player and GPS – $100 really isn’t bad at all. Of course that’s the 2-year contract price; a contract free version will run you $300 (still not terrible). The tentative release date according to the AT&T lineup document we showed you last month is next Tuesday, November 11, and it looks like we might be right on schedule. Hit the jump for plenty more poses, including a shot of the retail packaging.

It has its market but the phone looks retartedly big…I hate the sidekick and I’d still pick it over this, design wise. Good specs though.
@Abhishek
As I hear it this phone is manufactured by UTStarcom. Not an entirely unknown player in wireless devices.
And to agree with the other replies here, you make some valid points but not every phone has to live up to the standards of a smartphone. That is not the consumer segment they are shooting for with this device. There is a reason for so many devices to choose from on the market. Not everyone wants the same thing nor do they all want to pay top dollar to get what works for them. There are many consumers who do not want to have to shell out for a high-end smartphone device and the required data plan to along with it just to get a decent QWERTY keyboard and entertainment device.
So while your points are good, they hardly speak for anywhere near the majority of consumers to which this device is geared.
i like your opinion
now can you help me
So which one should I get? IM SO CONFUSED!!!!
Quickfire (Sidekick like with a touchscreen)
But I cant sync my work email
HTC Touch Pro (Fuze)
The phone I want but it seems too big and bad reviews on the qwerty. But OMG on the touchflo on the touchscreen!!! =)
BB Bold
*No touch screen
So insights? Opinions? HELP!
i just got done spending about 20 min with it and it is a bit thick, but it’s a good size. any smaller and it would have felt funny holding it. typical at&t stuff and typical at&t restricitions. can remove any default app like yellow pages, and stupid signed cert crap for downloading gmail. the email app doesn’t support gmail or custom pop3 or imap settings. just the usual aim, aol, live, yahoo, ect that’s on all the regular phones. touch is about as responsive as the vu. browser is html. basic but html. i didn’t get to the camera or the music player. gps loaded quickly.
@my last post…
should be ‘can’T remove any default app’
We have had a few people interested today but no one has bought one. The CV is the best I have seen.
This is the phone i’ve been waiting for, its perfect, except Im a little hesitant about the camera and its quality, hope its good. I do have one question though, is the touchscreen have a vibrate-feedback when you touch?
thanks
@ =)
it all depends on what you want your phone to do for you. Fuze and Bold are in a whole other ballpark when it comes to capabilites vs. the quickfire. If it were between the two of the PDA’s (fuze/bold) then it comes to preference. I’d take the bold if you can’t stand WinMo. If you can put up with WinMo, then the Fuze is a great phone.
Eww… This thing is butt ugly. AT&T needs to step up their game and release better phones than this if they wanna take away T-Mobile’s Sidekick faithful.
This phone is obnoxiously large!!!
Where the hell is the LG Xenon? It blows this phone out of the water!
i thought dey G1! dis shit look like a fake ass sidekick slide
Eh… Granted its feature set is awesome, why does it have to look so clunky? No thank you AT&T. Maybe next time? ^_^
That’d be sexcii with android and maybe a hint o wifi still sidekick slide ish but hopefully without the bugs and discontinued(ness)
I’ve heard that the official release date is NOV. 10 and if a store gets the phone before then, they can sell it. Looks like a sweet phone
Quckfire sucks bought one Wednesday Afternoon and returned it the next day. The touchscreen on it is terrible and it was to thick for my liking. It’s really is just a pretty version of the old HTC that I hat 2 years ago.
Good grief people. WHY does the world find it necessary to compare every single phone to the iPhone. If I wanted an iPhone, I would get one! Yeah, this phone looks big, but I bet it lasts longer than a paper thin phone.
Lachee…I find it hard to believe that you bought one Wednesday afternoon when it has not been released! I had the HTC and I LOVED it, but hated the pda plan and hated WINBLOW so I hope it’s like that!
I will be getting this in the Green flavor.
I am 36, a girl and will be a happy owner of this phone!
I’ve got to say, the back of the quickfire isn’t all too flattering.
Well this phone will be huge for teens and text happy people. I own a few at&t stores so I know how u feel about use. Don’t really care either but funny thing is we received a shipment of these phones the other day. Still a week early. Maybe other stores are seeing these come in but anyway. Gave my kid sis the phone for early christmas. She loves it plus the touchscreen is a lot user freindly than say the vue. But for the money u can NOT beat. For all the tech gurus that know it all go buy a bold or a storm or iphone. Leave this one to the teen crowd.
This is not what I expected at all. I just need to know if the touchscreen is good and is it a vibrant touchscreen. It is way to bulky and just from the pictures it seems so limited. That’s just me
So we got the Orange one to sell…its ridiculously clunky, but the TS is responsive, and I can’t help but compare the keypad to the SK and it just doesn’t feel the same. I’m not sure how this will pair with the Matrix. I wish the design was a bit sexier to attract customers. We’ll see…its rather heavy and just like I said above…just clunky. I’ll try pushing the green one the most. I wish ATT would have stepped it up.
There is no need to design something this UGLY… I don’t get it with the wad of cash being thrown at devices like this how can they get it so wrong?!
Or does it look crap because there was a limit of cash? – unlucky AT&T
Just went to the at&t store to take a look at the quickfire that was on display there. I have to say, it’s not bulky at all. It’s actually so small compared to my previous expectations of it. When the sales rep pointed it out to me, I was like “Is that the actualy size, or did you guys get a minuature sized one?”
Really, I’m looking forward to this phone when it hits the stores on November 11(at least for where I live). Hopefully I can order this online on the 10th (:
Kind of strange that this is made by UTstarcom who manufacturers Microsofts “Danger” Sidekicks for T-MO and that the code name was KNICK one letter short of Kick and that the new name is QUICKfire rymes with KICK.
up. wow, that was a strech. quick rymes with kick so they must be connected. Be for real!
There’s a video of it on youtube!
Apparently, it’s out in california.
